Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

We first met the owner, Keith, at the Field Arts and Events Hall Wedding Expo. He was personable, helpful, and very accommodating. He had several suggestions--while open to all of our ideas--for where we could hold the ceremony and how we could arrange seating. He was also open to us returning in the evening so we could have amazing photos taken during the "golden hour" lighting. And to top it off, he even supplied the lavender for our wedding reception centerpieces! And as a side note, there was ample parking for our 100 guests. In the end, we can't imagine how our wedding could have turned out any better! If you're getting married on the Olympic Peninsula, you should definitely take a good look at Flatiron Fields. We could not be any happier with our experience. --CB and Edwina Bell

I cannot recommend them enough for your special day.

Wine can be purchased by the glass or the bottle. Water is self-serve at the counter. Food items are light, ranging from cheese starters, salads and pizzas. During our visit we shared a few different bottles of wine, each of us favoring different blends. The White Blend bottle for $24 was a favorite for the couple ladies that preferred sweeter wine. We shared the Beet Salad for $16: Arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese, pickled red onions, pistachios and balsamic vinaigrette. We shared the Baked Brie for $16: Fig & Hazelnuts served with focaccia bread & crackers. We shared the Don't Go Bacon My Heart Pizza for $20: Olive oil, mozzarella blue cheese, pear, bacon, honey drizzle and rosemary. Staff was friendly. Overall, Bertelsen Winery was a great choice for all of us ladies to catch-up over some wine and light lunch. I look forward to attending future events outdoors.

I shopped around in Seattle and Bothell--and Cherry Falls had far more ambiance at a better price than the big city offerings. We liked the large windows in the back that showed the trees and forest (our family member who passed was an avid hiker and outdoor lover). There is a kitchen that includes a 30-cup coffee maker, as well as two lovely water dispensers, and much more. There is a large screen with the electronics and speakers to show a slide show or movie. The parking lot is huge, the place is easy to find, right off the road, but it feels peaceful and secluded. The proprietor, Autumn, met us there to go through the electronics and the other details, and before I showed with all my snacks and flowers, she'd already put white tablecloths on all five (huge) tables, and pulled out additional smaller tables for pictures and memorabilia. Everything was spotlessly clean, including a large bathroom and cloakroom. Really, we couldn't have asked for more. I whole-heartedly recommend this venue!

Copia on the Boulevard - An Intimate setting for Business or Social events

    Copia on the Boulevard

*they have deleted our negative reviews from Google, which makes them look like they have good…read morereviews.* DO NOT use Copia for your wedding bartenders! They were extremely difficult to work with and had such nasty attitudes the month leading up to our wedding and the day of our wedding. It is extremely sad that people can try to ruin your day that you've been planning for 18 months. This was the happiest day for us and they were so rude to us, our guests, and our other vendors. They should NOT be in the bartending business because they are unhappy people. Bartending at someones wedding should be such a fun and exciting experience, but they looked miserable and unhappy the whole night. I'm not sure if something is going on in their personal lives, but they took it out on us and that's not okay. We provided all of the alcohol and cups. They had to show up and pour alcohol. They were unhappy with the alcohol we provided, the cup sizes, etc. We had water stations around our venue for guests to pour themselves water throughout the night. My mom asked them for some glasses to put at one of the stations and Joseph told my mom (mother of the groom) to "fuck off" when she asked. We bought the cups? We hired them from 4-10pm. Yet, when they were setting up around 1pm, they were questioning if the groomsmen were drinking hard alcohol. We had hydration sticks that we were pouring in water. Anything prior to 4pm is not your business though and should've been the concern of the venue. Throughout the night, Copia was requiring everyone to drink a cup of water before allowing them to get a new drink. This is ridiculous. By the end of the night, my wife (bride) was so fed up with them, that she went up to the bar and told them to stop requiring people to drink water. She said that people will grab a glass of water if they want one and we also had 2 other water stations around the venue. That night, we went through 10 galloons of water and 360 water bottles. People were hydrating and NO ONE was overly intoxicated. We also had a 50 person party bus for the end of the night so everyone was being safe and responsible. After she asked them to stop having people grab water, they then took away the water and when people asked for water, they said "the bride is refusing me to serve water" or "don't tell the bride I'm giving you water". How manipulative and highly inappropriate. It just felt like they were out to get us. Overall, our day was gorgeous, but it's really sad to me that these people are bartenders and tried to ruin our day. You are a bartender? What a fun job?? If you are so miserable, you need a new career.

*They have removed our negative reviews from google review…read moreI've NEVER had a more negative experience with anyone in my life. I know a lot of these reviews are in regards to their actual event center, which I cannot speak to, BUT I can speak to their wedding bartending and it was HORRIFIC! My wedding was about 3 weeks ago, and I finally feel like I am in a space to review. For awhile, I was so sad by how our day transpired, that it was hard to think of the positives of our day. I've never met such hateful people, on what was supposed to be our happiest day. This is going to be a long detailed review, but we had so many bad experiences, that I want to make sure that I am as thorough as possible to help others getting married AVOID them at all cost. Disclaimer: we got married at Stepping Stones Garden and they required us to use their preferred bartenders. We had such a bad experience with them leading up to the wedding and tried to get out of our contract with the, but Stepping Stones would not allow it. Leading up to the wedding: - we had pre-arranged to have a separate "cocktail hour" bar for an hour. When we asked to do a separate bar they said "where do you think you're getting married, Seattle?". Even though Stepping Stones said that they've had Copia do separate cocktail hour bars many times before. So this comment just felt rude and unnecessary. Then, they were very difficult and said we could only have champagne. After getting Stepping Stones involved, we finally were able to get them to budge and have 2 beverages (white claws and white wine), which still seemed silly. - They told us that the bar would be closing at 9pm even though the wedding reception did not end until 10pm. After talking with Stepping Stones, they said this was odd and that they usually did last call at 9:30pm. We finally got them to budge on the ending time once we got stepping stones involved. - Overall, leading up to the wedding they had a very nasty demeanor. Working with them was truly the only thing that I was stressed about leading up to the wedding. I was hopeful that their nastiness was just before the wedding and not during the actual day, but boy was I wrong. Day of the wedding: - We provided all of the alcohol (beer, wine, seltzer) and cups. My godfather is a beer salesman so he graciously provided us with the alcohol. When he arrived the morning of the wedding to drop off, Copia would not accept all of it. If the alcohol didn't get used, we planned on taking it back? As soon as my mom arrived with 10oz and 16 oz plastic cups for the beer and wine Copia was immediately frustrated and said they would not be using our cups, even though they did not specify a size we needed to purchase. The contract did NOT state a cup size. -In our contract, we paid extra for the cocktail bar to be open for one whole hour. Copia had the cocktail hour bar open for 15-30minutes. They allowed everyone to get 1 drink. As soon as there wasn't a line, they shut it down. My parents (MOB and FOB) went up to the cocktail hour bar during this time and asked for a drink where they were told no. They then went to the main bar to get a drink, where again they were told no. They did NOT communicate to us that they'd shut down after everyone got a drink. My poor parents were busy helping us that the got out to cocktail hour late and were refused. -I was very clear that I wanted people drinking out of glassware during dinner, but then switched over to plastic cups once we were on the dance floor so that glass didn't get broken. I think they were so mad at us for getting the wrong size plastic cups, so they didn't end up requiring people to use plastic. There were beer glasses and wine glasses on the dance floor, which in result, we had broken glass on the dance floor while people were dancing barefoot. - Joseph told my husbands mom (MOG) to "f*ck off", when she asked for more plastic cups to put out at the water station. We paid for the cups. - Throughout the night, Copia was requiring everyone to drink a cup of water before allowing them to get a new drink. This is ridiculous. By the end of the night, I was so fed up with them, that I went up to the bar and told them to stop requiring people to drink water. I said that people will grab a glass of water if they want one and we also had 2 other water stations around the venue. That night, we went through 10 galloons of water and 360 water bottles. Maplehurst Farm Wedding Venue - So beautiful

It may not seem like it, but the venue you choose greatly impacts your stress levels. Pick a good venue, and your wedding will run smoothly, pick a bad venue, and it will be chaos. Maplehurst Farms is designed to simplify your wedding experience so that all you have to do is enjoy the ride. We were skeptical at first about paying a big price tag for a venue. I always joked that I've never done this before--getting married, that is--and I didn't know what we needed, how much it should cost, and whether or not we were getting ripped off for the sake of "marriage" like so many other services you have to pay for. We decided to get married at Maplehurst because it is a beautiful venue. Everything went off without a hitch and it was a perfect experience. All of our memories are of looking deeply into each others eyes, dancing under the lights. And we owe much of that to the amenities that the venue offers. Everything at the venue is designed to make your wedding easier. They have countless decorations, furniture, and place-setting options that can be used to set up the barn for a uniquely beautiful reception that fits your style. They have a guest house on location where you and your wedding party can stay for several nights leading up to the wedding day. This allowed us to stage food and decorations and it greatly simplified the logistics of the wedding day, letting us focus on getting ready and enjoying our champagne, rather than worrying about traffic and timing. The best part of our wedding was having all of our friends and family celebrating together, and staying in the guest house with our wedding party was one of the highlights. They have a great team of people who are there to serve and support you. They accommodated all of our questions and needs, helped us source local services like caterers and the makeup artist, and they cleaned up the venue after we were done. The owner, Jessie, understands that this once in a lifetime experience can be stressful or beautiful -- and everything about the venue and the services they provide is designed to make your day simple and special. If you want your wedding to be an unforgettable experience with none of the hassle or stress, Maplehurst is the venue you should choose!
