Dr Dan (the chiropractor) and Dr Harry (the physician) both have great bedside manner and really know their stuff. The new location is bright and airy, and you're greeted at the entrance by that giant fiberglass terrapin that used to be in the back at the old location--woohoo! It's great to see such an awesome practice (and staff) thriving. As always, Dr Dan is happy and helpful. It had been quite a while since I'd been in, so I got a new set of X-rays, which the chiropractor takes himself. The adjustment and traction really made me feel better the rest of the day. Today was the first time I met Dr Harry and I left there really impressed. He listened to my medical history, examined my back and limbs, and then proceeded to pinpoint the problem (mainly a tilt on one side of my pelvis). More importantly, he demonstrated his verbal explanation by having me stand on a very thin heel wedge, one foot at a time. We're talking less than a quarter inch of foam rubber, but the difference between the sides was astounding. Under my left heel, the thin wedge felt fine and actually led to improved arm strength (when Dr Harry pushed down on my extended arms); under my right heel, the same wedge almost made me dizzy and made my arms noticeably weaker than just moments before when the wedge was under the other foot (since under my right heel, it was magnifying the exact defect in posture that was contributing to my back/leg pain). I have been to Terrapin Care Center many times in the past for various ailments always with positive results. This time was a little different. I was desparate for relief from chronic pain from my fibromyalgia. After many primary care doctor visits I was told narcotics was the only way to relieve my pain. I meet Dr Dan in 2001 when my back and neck were hurting every night and I would wake up several times a night as a result. Dr Dan gave me some tips on my posture and sleeping positions in addition to having me come in for several adjustments. I will start off by saying, if it were not for the amazing Doctors at Terrapin, I would not be walking today! It started while on vacation and when I got home I literally could not stand up straight, let alone walk properly. (like Tim Conway in the old man sketch) I called on a Friday morning and Dr. Dan actually waited for my to arrive as they were closing. After some xrays I was informed of my lower back issues and started with adjustments exercise and decompression. I've been coming here on and off since 2009 for back pain. Dr Dan ha always been very helpful. My back used to hurt constantly and I would need frequent doses of Tylenol or Advil to keep myself comfortable. Other times, I would hardly be able to do anything after a day at work other than lie in bed. I came in for some adjustments every day for a week and it helped a lot. I was very concerned that I was becoming addicted to Advil and Tylenol and that they would begin to negatively affect my health.
