After one treatment, the fluttering was no more, and six weeks later, it is still gone. The relief is profound. After many months of stretching and movement therapy, I regained movement, and had no soreness, but the nerves in my arm were wrecked. The fluttering and twitching were preceded by what I experienced as a buildup of nervous energy in or around my shoulder joint. At some point, the sensation would break into my awareness. If I were alone, I would try to shake it off --- fluttering, stretching, rotations, meditation, relaxation, whatever I could do -- and if I were in public, I would nonetheless twitch almost involutarily. Others and I had thought that more movement, stretching, and/or meditation would relieve the symptoms, and indeed I could dissipate the nervous energy with exercise (and fluttering). This misled me into thinking it was part of the healing process, but 18 months later, I could no longer deny that I was in a chronic loop. Was it nervous inflammation? An energy imbalance? Was it all in my head? Was it something worse? Dr. Oliphant listened to all of this, consulted with me about the range of possible causes (including the scary ones), and agreed to apply acupuncture in case it were a treatable imbalance. Since that treatment, symptoms have not reappeared. The story's not completely over. I still have questions to answer, but for now, with what I know, Dr. Oliphant's acupuncture restored my arm and shoulder.

Having been evaluated by 11 physicians plus 7 of the top medical centers in the USA, including Mayo Clinic, I had 17 sets of nerve blocks, plus surgeries without relief. Because of the severity, at best Mayo could only offer to 'keep me comfortable" (prescribed drugs inc. injectables) Bloated, sad, sick and frustrated from all of it, I knew I was on a slow road to death. Thankfully, a door opened for change. Arriving from China just days earlier, I met Master Shengli Wang, becoming his third patient. By the time I finally made an appointment with Pro-Holistic, I was feeling desperate. As a personal chef for more than 10 years, I spent lots of time on my feet and developed painful lower back pain. In addition, the burning nerve pain in my neck was back again and I was fearing another cervical disc replacement and fusion. My digestion was totally off and I had chronic fatigue. Basically, no energy to do my job much less put in extra time for my grandkids. I figured I'd give chiropractics another try. Dr. Li was prompted in returning my initial phone call to discuss my symptoms and I was able to set up an appointment next day. Upon examining my skin, it was determined I have allergies to certain food I eat. My work-related stress level was also a main contributor to the severity of my problems. With no other alternatives, I decided to try acupuncture and drink Chinese herbal tea for the first time. I took the opportunity of my weekly acupuncture sessions to relax and clear my mind. Drinking the herbal tea daily, on the other hand, was not a pleasant experience even though it helped my issues tremendously. By adding honey as Dr. Li suggested made it bearable. In addition to giving up seafood and spicy foods, I also started using baby shampoo/lotion since most adult beauty products contain harmful chemicals. Five months after my treatment, I am happy to say the symptoms have cleared and I am better at managing my stress level. Dr. Li has an amicable bedside manner. You know how you have one of those businesses or services or hairdressers or mechanics in your life…read morethat, after a couple beers or something at the bar you realized you've just gone on a little bit too much about how much you love their business or service and how great it is and how you'll always go back there? That's what Derek is at Back to Health. I go on and on about him -- he is THE best. One Saturday morning I turned to reach for something in the backseat of my car and jammed my neck to a place where it did not want to turn left or right. I made several frantic phone calls to Derek and within a few hours he made what I thought would be the cause of days of suffering go away in 30 minutes. Not a "straight" chiropractor, Derek uses massage, heat, and stretching before he goes into any sort of manipulation. "Cracking your back" is definitely not the focus of his practice. He does what feels like a lot of deep tissue work both manually and with the aid of a handheld devise to work out kinks in your muscles. Reasonably priced, too -- even if you don't have insurance to cover it.
