Good food and friendly service on the lake. Reasonably priced. A must try. Taco Monday

While it has been several years since I ate in Camden, little has changed as I walked out happy and full as I petted the monkey on my way out the door. Walking in the place was well worn over the years but it was very clean. With their location and customer base, I like that they represent Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana professional teams and colleges. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We were able to order almost as soon as we sat down, had our drinks refilled several times without asking, and were checked up on multiple times throughout the meal. We both got burgers and that was the best part of the meal. I got their triple hog special so mine had bacon, ham, pulled pork, and lots of grilled onions and was in love. I thought the fries were solid but will ask for them to be a little bit crispier in the future. My mother got the basic bacon cheeseburger and had no complaints. She stated several times their burgers are better than any burger from anywhere they hand you your food in a bag from a window. Great food, great prices, great service, great experience, and I have no problems recommending the Clubhouse to anyone in the tri-state area.

Yes I realize the rating is a bit extreme for this place, but my rating is based on my experience…read moreand not how it matches up to modern norms. Here's my story, I had dinner at the Mexican restaurant across the street. Walked in to find The Bar completely empty except for the bartender. I thought they were closing up, but he said "no" just a slow night. So I sat at the bar and order a whiskey. It's a cash bar that appeared to not have changed for 50 years. The bartender provided history, opinions, and we exchanged personal philosophies throughout the evening. I would have stayed later but it was getting late and I ran out of cash after multiple cocktails. The Bar is unique, casual, and comfortable. It's a place I will remember for a long time and hope to get back to.

First of all, the rating is based on my personal scale, which merits things like "character" -…read more"style" - "uniqueness" - etc. as well as issues like food and service. I rate a lot of "dive" bars higher than the average person, especially if they are characteristic of their "type" - and offer something memorable. Now they might be a little dirty, the clientele might be a little suspect, and the beer offerings might be meager -- but if I had fun there, then it's a Good Day at The Bar. "The Bar" is just such a place. That's just what it says painted on the wall outside, which I thought was funny. It's a true dive bar, with decor that hasn't changed in years (and it shouldn't). Was going to order one beer, but the friendly (and well-curved) bartender informed me that their night's special was 5 cans of domestic for 5 bucks. I said OK - and she handed my my can of Miller Lite. No buckets of ice and cans here - the bartender has a scratchpad with your name on it, and she keeps track of how many of your five beers are left. Saves a lot of hassle. As I said, the bartender was very engaging; the clientele was friendly (very typical of [small-small-small] towns like this--just spitting distance from the Indiana border. I also did my best to converse with an inebriated woman who sat a chair away from me; she was hard to understand but friendly nonetheless. If she had been just slightly better looking, my night would have been complete. All in all, a fun night - for a weeknight. I imagine this place may be even better on a late weekend, but I doubt I'll ever have a chance to find out. If you get a chance, stop in for a date with "Real America."

Laker's Landing was formerly Laker's Food & Spirits. I no reference to the former owners…read more Laker's is a moderately small restaurant tucked behind several buildings on the Main Street. I didn't see any signage on the main road or on the street where you turn. There isn't any good signage that helps you definitely know that you have arrived at Laker's. Once you get there you will scramble to find a parking spot on a busy night. Again the signage for where it is okay to park is not good as well. Laker's is set right on the lake. The deck only sets three tables. The view is great. However you better make a reservation if you want to secure an outdoor seat. Once inside....the view of the lake isn't bad. There are lots of windows to share the view with those outside. The interior of the restaurant is broken up into three areas - east & west dinning and a bar. All areas have an attractive multi-colored wood walls. This is complimented by the wood floors and dark furniture. The interior is welcoming and comfortable. The bar is very attractive. The east dinning room is VERY LOUD for some reason. The west side was much quieter. The staff we encountered were very friendly. The hostess doubles as a bus person so we had to wait to find out what happens after you arrive - again "hostess will seat up" sign. I was surprised that half of the staff didn't wear shirts with the Laker's logo. Our waitress Katie was excellent. She knew her menu well and had several spot on recommendations. She was concerned about our dinning experience and advised us that a large party was coming so she wanted to make sure we got our orders in ahead of them. Katie was right on top of the refills as well. We ordered the jalapeño crab filled wontons to start. The jalapeño wonton was not hot or over spicy. The filling was creamery with a slight crab taste. The wontons were a bit crispy. Overall a nice appetizer but no rememberable flavors here. My side salad was very good. The salad was a nice size presented in a fashionable bowl. The Ingredients were very fresh. The right amount cheese mixed well with the homemade honey mustard dressing. The dressing had a slightly sweet flavor with a creamy smooth consistency. The taste mirrored a high quality store bought dressing. My wife had the Cobb salad. Again the salad was a nice size with plenty of fresh veggies and lettuce. The homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing was outstanding. The dressing was slightly sweet with small pieces of raspberries in the sauce. Overall the salad was very good. For dinner I ordered the breasted chicken and Mac & Cheese. The Mac & cheese was a bit dry. You kind of expect a creamy oozing sauce on elbow noodles. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The cheese was thin and stuck to the noodle with a darker color (looked like well baked on but not overly baked). The chicken was outstanding. The breading was thin and slightly crispy. It did hold a bit more grease flavor than you might like. However the breading was simply delicious! The chicken was extraordinarily moist. It could be easily cut with a fork. Overall Laker's Landing does a pretty good job with dinner. The cocktails, which we didn't have, looked very attractive and tempting. You will find the prices to be very fair and a moderately sized menu. Give them a try!
