I also ordered the hazelnut & pistachio gelato. The ambience of the restaurant was really nice, the decorations add to the vibe. The four dishes were enough to feed the four of us. The Puzza was really good, I didn't enjoy the Sofia as much not sure if that's because I found it too salty. I didn't enjoy the pasta either, it was a bit off, I wish it had a creamier base with the white wine. The hazelnut and pistachio gelato were really good. Stopped in without a reservation and the hostess told us there were no tables available, so I checked OpenTable and sure enough reservations were available at that time, so we walked right back in with a reservation and were seated - which started things off with a bit of a poor taste in our mouths. Our waiter, on the other hand, was phenomenal - one of the best that I've ever encountered. His recommendations were on-point and he kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying. We split the verde salad and it was okay - I would have preferred different greens, but the mains were delicious - both the rigatoni alla norma and the ravioli ricota e spinaci. SO, as a graduation dinner, my family (5) selected this resturant to have a nice meal together. This building used to be a court house many years ago so that was interesting. The ambiance in the entire building was very nice. Service was excellent and we were seated near the kitchen. I enjoyed watching the cooks/chefs hustle and laugh together while preparing meals for everyone. Looked like a happy place. We ordered Frittura di Calamari and Pane, olivie E taralli to start. The Calamari was on pointe. Not over cooked and not too bready/overly battered very fresh tasting. The olive dip could have been a bit better. My Mom had the Nizzarda which she throughly enjoyed. The Garganelli Geppetto was very tasty and was a good portion. Spaghetti in Canna a Mare was delightful. Spaghetti al limone was good but a little bit too lemony for this particular guest. Oh and you should venture down the the washroom area... very interesting... Terroni is a very solid classic Italian spot. Toronto has a lot of great Italian food, but places like Terroni occupy a certain niche between the fast casual chains and the upscale spots. In this niche, you find a sweet spot where you can have a delicious dinner at reasonable prices, with quick and efficient service. While Terroni has their own strict rules when it comes to food (no cheese on the seafood pasta, no sauce with calamari, etc) most of them are fairly understandable, but not cutting our pizzas is one I will never understand! One reason that just makes me prefer sticking to the pastas when I go here, though both the pastas and pizzas are great. Overall, you're sure to enjoy a consistently good dinner with equally comparable service in their cozy space. But please let's keep asking them to cut our pizzas until they relent! read more

The interior of this location is magnificent. You can really sense that it was previously a old court house. The architecture of the building and designs really make Terroni one of a kind... just kidding. Terroni has multiple locations and my experience was lacklustre. Our service was pretty average, there was nothing extraordinary nor was it bad either. I did question why we had to request for the complimentary bread but it was busy so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Food wise, our group ordered different items from the menu. We started off with the calamari, which was decent - beware there is no sauce.. or salt! Just lemon and the taste of the squid. Next, was the burrata and prosciutto which were the best thing we had. Pasta wise we got the duck ravioli and ricotta spinach ravioli, seafood spaghetti, spicy sausage & mushroom pappardelle and whichever the Saturday special was. All were decent but there was no depth or flavour whatsoever. The best out of the 5 was probably the duck ravioli and even so, the filling was a tad dry. Their pizza selection is massive, the waitress definitely helped with recommendations and we ended up sharing the Scattagengive. It honestly tasted like a typical pepperoni pizza. Nothing special. Also be prepared to eat the pizza with a fork and knife! I know it's how they do it in Italy but it's tough cutting up slices if you're in a big group (and no they wouldn't allow any scissors or to cut it for us). Lastly, if you're looking to celebrate a birthday here - don't expect anything complimentary. You'd think a restaurant that is this popular would offer something for their guests but guess their not a typical restaurant. To be fair, the $13 tiramisu was fairly good. I don't really see what the hype is about. Food is decent and basic restaurant philosophies aren't followed, but the atmosphere and the building itself are worth experiencing. 3/5 read more

My pizza ( Don Corrado) was a let down. It was slightly overdone and being thin crust made it really hard to work with the knife. I asked my server whether he could have it scored and his answer was their tradition did not allow that. So I lived with it and sweated over it a bit to get it into manageable bite sizes. And the taste and texture was below average. The Rigotoni arcobaleno was better than the pizza while the the fettuccini Alfredo tartufo was underwhelming. We had 3 different dessert- the tiramisu was average while the Torta Calda and the Budino Caramello were not quite to our liking. Overall came away a bit disappointed. Originally we ordered the Tonnarelli alla Norcina (italian black truffle shavings, homemade spicy sausage, pecorino, garlic) Our server could tell we weren't a fan and swapped it out for a different pasta of our choice. We ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese (traditional bolognese ragu, parmigiano) instead and for pizza we went with the Contadina (tomato, burrata, roasted tomatoes, grana padano, basil). The pasta was light and to be honest underwhelming in my opinion... The Contadina was quite delicious... The sauce and burrata mixed hand in hand MHMM, the crust was thin and crispy, giving it a nice texture. The interior of this spot was quite unique and the atmosphere was lively. For COVID safety purposes, guests/staff must wear masks, tables are sanitized and spaced apart, and vaccinations are required. Our party was seated in the private side room, which offered a cozy, intimate ambiance. Staff are lovely-- our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient (esp with all 10+ of us). FIORI DE PERO: I could have sworn this was juice until the Asian glow kicked in LOL. Amazing. The sweetness of the pear nectar really pops. + decent amount of vodka. I'm a huge fan. SPAGHETTI IN CANNA MARE: Their fresh pasta is PHENOMENAL. Paired with a lightly spicy, tart sauce and sweet shellfish-- WOW. The restaurant's vibe is nice, but we got a very tiny seat and quite literally right next to another couple. You can hear the conversations as if we're sitting together (because we technically are like sitting on the same table). It was loud since it was busy and the tables are so close to each other. We hoped for a more private and intimate experience but unfortunately was not met. The food was okay, I ordered the mushroom pappardelle and I've had better. I found the price unfair for the size of the serving. My bf ordered the steak and it was big enough for him. I got a glass of wine and it was good. I wish there was more overview of what wine would work best with the food you order. I found the service to be inattentive. The server reached out for our plates without asking if we're done or not. It's an excited atmosphere and relatively busy when I went on a Wednesday night yet I was seated nearly immediately. My food came out right away, I got the cappricollo pizza and someone else mentioned it was soggy yet I had the opposite experience. It was crisp and fresh. I got the tiramisu and it was creamy and served quickly as well. One thing- I was very nearly served someone else's food and the table next to me was also nearly served someone else's food too. This is one of my go to Italian restaurants in the DT core. A bit on the fancier/pricier side to cater to the financial district workers. Decided to come here for lunch on a Sunday with a few girlfriends. I didn't realize they have a cute patio at the back of the restaurant. It's so nice and quiet since it doesn't face any big streets. The restaurant has an extensive menu on pasta and pizza. Took me forever to decide what to order. I ended up sharing the Tonnarelli alla Norcina ($26 pasta) and Focu Meu ($20 pizza). Both were pretty good. The pasta came with a lot of shaved truffles but the flavour didn't come through for some reason. The noodles were very Al dente, esp since it's thicker than reg spaghetti (a bit too hard for my personal liking). No complaints on the pizza since I love eggplants! I went here for a friend's birthday party and I have to say I think I found my new favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto. First of all, Terroni used to be a courthouse so it had an interesting interior design to it. (Also check out the bathroom). Second of all, the ambiance was really pleasant- definitely not too loud and it was the perfect setting to just chat with your friends. The menu itself was accommodating to those who were vegan or vegetarian, so there was something for everyone. The menu selection has more than the basic pasta dishes that fast food Italian restaurants have, so it is great if you want to try different types of pasta dishes. COVID-wise, they checked for vaccinations and had you fill out a form. We had a reservation so we were promptly seated at the table. The server was very nice and very friendly. He was knowledgeable about the menu and gave suggestions since some of us did have diet restrictions. I had the Shaved Black Truffles and Duck Confit Ravioli, which I shared with a friend to get the best of both worlds without breaking the bank. Shaved Black Truffles - I loved how they gave out really big chunks of truffle. Pasta and sauce were also amazing. Love it! Duck Confit Ravioli - I loved the texture, filling and sauce. It came nicely together and was an amazing dish. My other friends also liked their dishes as well. Reviewing my second time at this Terroni location. I love the intimacy of the back patio, it truly doesn't feel like you're in the heart of the Financial District. Also this was my first time dining in the city since way before the pandemic - wild! I found parking across the street underground. I could have very well done street parking but I have no patience and strive for ease when it comes to parking especially in the city. My friends and I split the grilled calamari and the caprese salad. These dishes were fresh, had great presentation, and were perfect for sharing with our group. For my main course, I ordered the Tonnarelli alla Norcina which consisted of: Italian black truffle shavings, homemade spicy sausage, pecorino, and garlic. I'm a bit of a truffle fiend but unfortunately I didn't find this dish very truffle forward. The homemade spicy sausage didn't come across as spicy to me, and sadly this dish as a whole was a bit salty for my liking. On my next visit I'd love to try one of their ravioli dishes. To drink, I started with my first ever Espresso Martini and it's safe to say I'm hooked. Also look how adorable it was just sitting on the table, ha! Really delicious food. The Santo Stefano pizza is a classic with arugula, buffalo mozzarella, and prosciutto. Probably the best buffalo mozzarella I've had outside of Naples, Italy. The C't Mang pizza is a delicious white pizza with lots of mozzarella, Gorgonzola, fresh pears, walnuts, smoked prosciutto, and honey. So sweet and tasty. I washed them down with sweet pear nectar and finished off my dinner with two scoops of gelato. The hazelnut was rich and creamy, and the lemon flavor had a nice tang and was cool and refreshing. You do sit quite close to the next table, so I bumped elbows once with the lady next to me. But the restaurant is quiet enough to still have a conversation despite all the hustle and bustle. read more

The caprese bufala ($16.99) was an appetizer but definitely the star of the show. The mozzarella was really fresh and creamy, and the cherry tomatoes were so sweet. They went together so well; I'm still thinking about the dish a week later. For pasta, we got the fettuccine al tartufo ($26) which was actually a bit disappointing. The pasta was bland and the amount of sauce was imbalanced to the amount of pasta. The pasta noodles, however, were cooked perfectly with the perfect chew and taste. We also got a margherita pizza ($16) which had a nicely thin crust. This pizza was also a bit lacking to me, as it was not even warm by the time we got it. I also feel the pizza could have had more cheese! AMBIENCE | Terrioni has a really pretty interior, and I wish we could have dined inside. It's a perfect location for date night or for a fancier night out with family or friends. SERVICE | Being to a couple upscale restaurants downtown, I feel that the experience at Terroni would have been overall more satisfying if the servers were more engaging. Although our server was nice, there was not much explanation of the daily specials or menu favourites. I've always found Terroni (and some other similar Italian restaurants) slightly overpriced for the food, but I quite enjoyed my dinner here recently. My bill was almost $40 for a main and two apps split among 5 people, but I left quite satisfied and full. We started off with the beef carpaccio and grilled calamari for the table. I wasn't the biggest fan of the carpaccio, which was thinly sliced raw beef served with spicy arugula and shaved cheese, drizzled with lemon juice. The contrast of the smooth beef, rich cheese, and harsh bite of the arugula was an interesting combination. I did, however, love the grilled calamari! The portion size was mediocre; there were only about three small pieces there. That said, it was grilled to a nice crisp and char, and was so flavourful! I enjoyed that it was also served on a leafy bed of greens with tomatoes, making it a nice and light starter. My main was the Spaghetti in Canna al Mare - a tomato based spaghetti topped with different seafood such as clams, mussels, calamari, and shrimp. I was very pleasantly surprised at how generous they were with the toppings. My plate had lots of calamari and roughly 8 mussels/clams, along with two meaty shrimps. I wouldn't say that the seafood is very fresh, but the slightly spicy and tangy tomato sauce helped add some flavour and depth. The portions are actually a decent size too - I was unable to finish mine, but fortunately a friend pitched in and helped! My friend ordered a pizza, and although I forget which one he got, I distinctly remember him asking the server for the one with the most meat (guys will forever be guys). I sampled a small bite, and it was pretty good! There's a fair amount of cheesy goodness on top, and the crust is super thin. There's a nice crunch when you bite into it. Our main complaint is that the pizza arrives uncut - and you're expected to use your fork and knife to manage. On that note, keep in mind that Terroni doesn't really allow for substitutions or modifications (e.g., doesn't accommodate no cheese or sub cheese requests), and that extends towards asking for their pizza cut. Although my experience here was quite lovely, though I believe there are plenty other Italian places in the city to visit and will be unlikely to return anytime soon! read more

(Be sure to visit washrooms and vaults in the bsmt.) Our server was very insistent about what we should and shouldn't apply cheese to, a quick suggestion would've been nice - but then let ppl eat how they want to! The fresh cut hot peppers they bring to the table saved our meals. *Be prepared to cut the uncooked basil on the Margherita pizza yourself ‍ it's just placed uncooked in the center. So I've had dinner at Terroni's now three or four times. Last night was the first time at the Adelaide location. I'll give it three stars because the ambiance is nice. Other than that it's just kind of a meh each time. I'm not sure if it's part of their interview process but every server I've ever had has seem to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, and I really don't enjoy being served by them ever. Last night was no different. Our server did not add any joy to the meal. I won't say much more about him when they served our mains after we had appetizers, they didn't clear the plates first, so they were trying to put down our means while our table was covered in dishes. This was ridiculous and stupid and just shouldn't of happened. We actually had to gather up all of our own dishes so that they could put the food down and then hand them to the servers as they left For appetizers we had some of the Funghi Assoluti and the Frittura di Calamari. I don't typically like getting calamari because it's just fried calamari and it's no different than most places and Terroni's was no exception. Some restaurants actually make some sort of sweeter type sauce, but they didn't even try. This was just fried calamari. Stuck on a plate dropped in front of you. They probably pick it up in the freezer section of Loblaws. For the main I had Tonnarelli alla Norcina. It was recommended sounded like it should be good, but I was just a puddle of grease with some pasta. It tasted like it was served kind of blah anyway again not impressed. Our server came back to annoy us some more, and I just called them an angry elf as their pronoun. It seem the most fitting. So I think I started writing this as a three star and as I'm writing it I'm moved it to a two star. Another sub par experience. May I never be invited back to dine here again. read more

Authentic italian food served in the same fashion. Service: The staff were friendly, but the wait times were pretty unacceptable considering we had a large group with a reservation. We arrived on time, but still had to wait upwards of 30 minutes for a table, and it almost ruined the surprise birthday. The food came as ordered, but the waiters clearly didn't communicate with each other as they didn't know who ordered what and had to check several times. Food: The pasta was cooked al dente, closer to the firmer side. You could tell the pasta was fresh, and they were fairly generous with the truffle shavings. However, the seasoning was a bit overwhelming, as it seemed to overpower the truffle flavour. My favorite part is the atmosphere . The old court house is beautiful. I've always liked the venue growing up even when other restaurants held the space . The place is lively, food is delicious and service is fast. Highly recommend the pasta with sausage, truffles and carbonara sauce . read more

The atmosphere is really pleasant. The lights are dimmed so there's this romantic ambience to it. It gives customers a comfortable setting to chat the night away with their friends. What makes it even better is the service. All the waiters and waitresses are so kind and friendly. In terms of restaurant experience, this is one of the best I've had with staff and ambience. Unfortunately, the food is not the best. Don't get me wrong, visually all the dishes look great. They all look super appetizing at first glance, but very small. It's not very filling either, so be sure to order a lot and spend a lot if you come. read more

I have mixed thoughts about Terroni. So here's a breakdown: 1. Atmosphere: Very intimate and amazing for a romantic dinner. 2. Appetizers: We ordered calamari, antipasti (salami and cheese platter). And they were delicious! No complaints at all :) 3. Main: I have ordered their sausage and black truffle pasta ($26). It was very good, but not worth the price. I also think they should have made it creamier (They also didn't offer parm with pasta, a major flaw!). Overall, I might visit again with friends, but I personally prefer other Italian places to Terroni. read more
