To start the night, unfortunately, I had to leave my partner behind as she is unable to partake in adventures requiring much walking these days. We're glad we did because there really isn't a heads up that you will be walking quite a distance within the mazes on the grounds of the National Rail Museum. I'll have more to say on that later. I had the Fast Pass, and I would DEFINITELY recommend it. If you look at many other reviews you'll see complaints about the lines, but this is an urban attraction, if you don't expect lines you aren't basing said expectations in reality. I arrived and walked directly to board the train. The train started moving with some strobe effects and a couple of actors came out to interact with the crowd. At this point, as a former theatrical group executive director, I admittedly started judging the level of these improv actors as higher end amateur. They were competent, don't get me wrong, but I felt a lot of the interactions felt kind of shallow. I think this may have to do with the amount of under 16 year old traffic that the attraction tends to receive, and these actors seemed to be working to keep it "family friendly." After the creeping train ride, you are sent through a forest maze the "Depths of Darkness." It's a pretty solid maze with various terrains and dioramas of decaying city and graveyards. There were a handful of live actors going for generic jump-scares, but as it will be throughout the attractions, my traveling solo seemed to throw their timing. The journey felt as though it was about a mile as you weaved back and forth. It would be EXTREMELY difficult for anyone with mobility issues to get through parts of this area with anything more than a cane (part of why my partner had to pass, as she's currently stuck using a rolling walker). That's not really an issue, but I'd definitely make the suggestion that they add a warning for anyone with mobility issues in the future. It was enjoyable, but I could see adding a little more effect lighting throughout this portion of the attraction, and I would work on figuring a way for the live actors to be more interactive for frights. After the haunted forest I once again came to a crossroads where I got to choose GA or Fastpass/VIP. The Fastpass/VIP path led to an outdoor lounge area that normally has concessions, and a bonfire. I was informed that the concession group didn't show up either. That was unfortunate, but understandable. After a quick rest I decided it was time to head towards Blackthorne Manner. Again, I got to "skip" the line, which was definitely substantial, although when I got the end of the VIP/Fastpass queue it was very confusing as the security (dressed as security) wasn't the most attentive to his job further than he knew he had to direct groups where to go. I wandered back and forth up the queue line confused for a few minutes before he finally asked me if I was alone. I also question the fact that this wasn't a stylized character, but someone wearing an orange security windbreaker, directing the groups into the manor's courtyard. Once inside the courtyard, the beautiful horror façade that one can see on the website, I was greeted by a stylized character who definitely was grasping for something to say to the 6'9" 450 lbs solo roller, and it definitely took him a minute to even come up with a generic response (again improve level, medium-high amateur). He let me into the house, laughing, and passing along a low clearance warning as I ducked through the door. Blackthorn Manor, the home of this year's "Book of Lost Souls" attraction, is aesthetically gorgeous. The detail in the room décor is high level. Lots of solid woodwork, and various types of craftwork throughout. Solid wax depictions of corpses (animal & human) at different levels of decay, most of the lighting effects were either to create shadows or strobing effects. It was pretty easy to find my way through the winding passages of the single floor 'manor," and again the majority of the human actors were going for the jump scares and my soloness was throwing their timing off. One actor in a "bald maniac" mask popped out and all I could do was chuckle and literally say to him/her "You should be In make-up not a mask" and they just made a grunt and popped back into their hiding spot. After weaving through quite a few rooms I finally hit a series of rooms with EXTREME strobe. I lost count how many times I walked into walls before I finally found my way outside. It is a very cool attraction. I definitely see a lot of room for improvement. If you've never been, it's definitely worth the trek and the ticket. I was expecting a bit more from the actors as Thirteenth Floor Productions is nationwide, and the themes that were presented as the attractions didn't really come across at all. Also marketing makes this seem like multiple attractions, but it's be very hard to separate them. read more

Last night I went to Terror on the Fox with my bf and it was literally terrible. I have never left a review on yelp before and I downloaded the app and created an acct because it was that bad and hopefully this can help someone not waste their time. He has been going to this haunted house for 6 years and this was my second time going. We love haunted houses and we both agree we would never go back to this. We waited in line for 2 hours before getting to the train. We arrived around 8:30 and had our tickets online and we did not get on the bus until 10:30. The security is so strict and it felt like we were at the airport. None of the security people were kind and only barked at you to not have a vape because they had already confiscated so many. The 2 haunted houses were extremely short and we were out of the entire thing by 11:15. It was so not worth the wait or the money. This place needs to figure their shit out. read more

This was a great experience, standing out under the stars listening to spooky music and watching the light show on the haunted house. The sets inside were cool and creepy and played on all your senses. The people working for this company were engaging and serious about what they were doing. Did not really like waiting in line for over 3 hours this time didn't get out till midnight and it got loud half the time. My group unfortunately didn't get the fast pass like in past years. Waste of money to say the least. Never going to Terror on the Fox again after going 3 years in a row it's just not fun anymore. 2 stars for trying, pretty rushed through. My girlfriend and I went on Friday the 13th 2023, it was raining but I still thought it would be worth the hour and a half wait time. I was wrong. Not well put together at all. First you wait a line, go on a train, wait in another line, go through the woods, wait in ANOTHER line, then you are finally in the "main attraction". The main attraction was very sad, and very easy to know when they are going to jump out and scare you. A waste of $25 to say the least. If you are looking to go to a haunted house, DO NOT GO HERE, please go to the one around Manitowoc. I went there last year and it was 100x better. read more

Easily the worst haunt experience of my life given the horrendous lines. We arrived at 7:35 and didn't leave until 12:30. This included 4+ hr of waiting in line and just 25 min of going through the two haunts. Throughout the entire haunt there were never any warnings about how long you had to wait. The security line took one hour to get inside. One you are inside there is another 1 hr wait to get on the train. The train was OK, but wasn't really a haunt attraction. The fog from the machines was intense and left us all horse for the rest of the night. Being on the upper deck we never experienced any actors, although one did come up to the other side of the upper deck. We could at least look out the windows and enjoy the views of the river. Once off the train there were some concessions for food and beverage. However, getting anything will just increase the wait as people skip in front of you. They strictly forbid food and drink in line. It took about 2hr to get through the main line. There were some actors going through trying to make it interesting, but overall, not a lot of interaction. There was a screen playing trivia and scenes from the haunt which quickly became old and the wait dragged on. The first haunt took about 5-10 min to go through and was overall disappointing. It was mostly outdoors, there were only a few actors, and the Bloodrite lady never made a visit. The wait for the second haunt took about 15 min. The building looked interesting from the outside and there were actors dancing to music which made that 15 min wait the most enjoyable wait of the night. This haunt is the best, but it only lasted about 15 min. It had some interesting scenes and actor interaction, but nothing better than the other haunts in the area which are much longer for much less wait. We were all surprised when it ended as we were expecting more, especially with the massive waits to get in. The Daywalker also never appeared in his haunt. We never saw any of the Bloodrite or Daywaker scenes shown on the screen earlier. No haunt is worth waiting upwards of four hours for no matter how amazing it is. This one was a letdown on top of that. The management needs to make changes to make the haunt workable again. We all agreed we will never come back unless they make significant changes. read more

This is a classic historic haunted attraction that is a can not miss experience. The scenery and atmosphere is breathtaking. I enjoyed that it was an outdoor partly experience which let's you get into the feeling of your surroundings. The event starts with this great spooky train ride which brings you to the front of the attraction. This gets you in the mindset for what is to come. You end up in an open area where there are two attractions ready for any new comers who are brave enough to walk though. I have been to multiple different offseason events including a Christmas event called krampus which again being outside in the elements gives you feeling of authenticity. The other was a zombie laser tag event which had amazing acting and was even more fun. read more

This is the 8th year I have been going to Terror on the Fox. I would have to say that this was the best year ever. Updated walk through after the train and the haunted house is Fantastic. Really got a jump out of me this year. I highly recommend this. There might be a little waiting, but that is to be expected. The wait gives you a chance to catch your breath. read more

Bought tickets for an 8pm entry online, arriving at 7:30 to find extremely long waits. By 11pm we had not even gotten into a haunted house yet! Basically lame entertainment during wait, no availability to use restroom or get refreshments. Was very disappointed and by the general crowd, we weren't the only ones complaining. The absolute worst haunted house experience ever. Never coming back. There are other, better run, more thrilling haunted houses I'd recommend, but Terror On The Fox is not one of them. read more

Was very upset to spend money on a fast pass just to stand in a 1.5 hour line for a "security check". Then just disappointed in the whole experience. No jump scares, just no scares at all! It was the worst haunted house experience I've ever had! We went as a group of 5 and not even one person was ok with the night. Waste of time and a lot of money. Disappointed all around. I decided to take my 11 year old kids to their first non Kids Day haunted house experience. On the website it said to select an entry time and that there were timed entries. Awesome! I LOVE timed entry stuff. I didn't want to spend all night there. I hesitated a bit because this was $85 online with fees but decided having that entry window was worth it. The purchase page is very clear that there are no refunds under any circumstances. Anyway, my kids hadn't eaten dinner but I figured it would be about an hour with the timed entry. When we arrived, there was really no visible line. I asked about the timed entry ans the woman waved it off and said that was still from last year and it doesn't apply anymore. Since it didn't look busy I didn't think much of it (also, no refunds) so we proceeded and got on the first train. Expecting that the train ride would have actors and excitement, I was disappointed that only two people strolled through and it wasn't much different from kids day except that it was dark. I figured "okay covid...whatever". Got off the train to find a huge line. People smoking cigarettes in line. I'm not sure if that's allowed or not but it shouldn't be. We went ahead because we were there and I paid nearly $100 but by this point I knew that 8:30 entry wasn't happening. Finally we made to the front where they do the photos. Not the front of the actual haunted house. The front of the line to enter the trail to the actual house. At this point it's 10 pm and I have two tired and hungry kids who haven't had dinner and were well past bedtime. We did the trail. It was fun. Had a few startles. Enjoyed it. Woke up a little but....then we finished and lo and behold you're in line again! Twenty or so minutes later we were finally able to enter the house (with a few other random people). You guys. There were like 4 or 5 people in the whole house. Most rooms had nothing but animatronics. The people in front of us got all the scares and we just trailed behind looking at the Halloween decorations. One "scare" was some guy yelling "taxes" as we walked by. Really? People standing near you and looking at you isn't scary. We needed jump scares, noise, and build up/anticipation. We got a dark house with a bunch of bloody decorations, a cheesy "scary" joke line, a two plus hour wait, and no timed entry as advertised/sold. I've emailed and written them on messenger to no response (the Facebook message was viewed), made a comment on their post which was deleted, and its clear they don't actually care. I had last been there in about 2008. I'll never return. Which is disappointing because my kids volunteered to work the kids day event there a few years back and absolutely loved it. The lack of response and acknowledgement might be worse at this point than the disappointment of the evening. read more

This Three part horror attraction give you the opportunity to purchase you tickets online or from the box office. Which I found to be super convenient. As it was opening night there were a few kinks to work out. Speaker levels and walking space primarily. The line wasn't overly long although there was a small bit of confusion over the line if you had the fast pass or printed your tickets off. The train ride was hot, and sweaty. The actors tried a little too hard but the walk to the slaughterhouse was not bad; the bark trial was damp from the humidity due to the heat. So I would advise wearing a pair of sneakers, or boots. The wait outside of the Blackthorne Manor not overly long; the music was fine. The smoke machines were on overdrive though. Upon entering and exiting staff asked for patron input on the attractions. There's always room for improvement from opening night of events. But, this production was well in its way. If you venture into the dark to experience "Terror on the Fox" print your tickets off before arriving to avoid the ticket lines, and the fast pass. May be worth it if you're looking to get in and out of the houses. I would suggest stick around with a group of friends and enjoy the experience. read more

From my experience: waste of time. the first time i went a few years ago it wasn't great, so i haven't gone since. we got free tickets this year so we decided to go. We went for 7pm so we could be out early. We just got off the train at 9:30pm. We decide to leave because it was absolutely a waste of time. the lines were insanely long. i would say they need to greatly improve on their time management. to start, the train wasn't even decorated nor was the trail it took. so you just sit in the dark on the train for 15min. wasn't "scary" what so ever. we got off the train and the line was at least an hour long. after the first house, the second line was another hour long. So i really (really) hope you you don't mind waiting at least 4 hours. to top it off, when we entered we had to leave a few items in the entrance and were told that we could get them after. when we left everything we left was gone. i highly doubt i will be returning read more

Very disappointing, NOT worth $25! Understand the Covid changes were necessary to make but please reflect this in your admission rates. We expect an amazing, terrifying experience at $25-35 a person, something to laugh about and worth sharing. Nothing but complaints from every guest exiting that house, not exaggerating :( Pretty lame and disappointing "scary" experience. Nothing like I remember from our awesome experience here 9 years ago, scare level TEN!! Back then. Now.. 2 at best, few good screams but nothing worth rehashing and laughing over again and again with your group after it's over.. 90% sound effects (some loud, steam popping noise in house was wayyy overused) and electronics is the main scare tactic, very few actors in house. Covid sucks, yes social distancing is necessary. We knew from the train ride with zero actors, the walk thru woods maybe 4 actors, we were about to be disappointed. Which again, covid- but REFLECT THIS IN YOUR ADMISSION! Had I thought about it/read some reviews regarding these changes prior to purchasing, we never would have gone for $25 each. $10 at best, I'd still regret going for that price unfortunately. So glad we didn't get the Fast Pass!! We won't be back unless I read some stellar reviews in the future. read more

I really wish you said that there was jump scares on the kids day. I brought my 2 year old through this and people were constantly jump-scaring my daughter. The kid actors were also getting in my kid's faces screaming at them, and some had scary masks and costumes that were very scary to my younger children. No other haunted house "kids days" do this. I like a good haunted house, but did not expect this, nor would I have taken my children to this yet had I know. Could you advertise this important information for parents? I worked here during October, they gave me flexible hours and for the second haunt I've ever worked at it shocked me to find so many nice and inviting people. Pay is good for a side job and if you love scaring people, showing off your skills, or just being down right freaky this is the place to go. Full of super cool metal heads and an excellent makeup staff and costume selection, I rate this job a 10/10 for anyone who's looking for a good first time haunt to work at! read more

Pretty scary but I personally had an experience that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I was walking through the "Slaughterhouse" attraction with my group and I was pretty tense walking through-- the theme is very morbid and effective. Some very plump elderly woman jumped out and tried to scare me; it didn't work. I just stood there and she blocked my way to continue moving through the house. She pressed her entire body against me and put her face in mine and starting making weird noises clearly trying to freak me out and at this point I was extremely uncomfortable and I know the actors are not allowed to touch the customers without a legal waiver. I calmly said please don't touch me.. clearly this set this woman off and she continued to hold her body against me and raised her voice at me. She said " Talk back to me and I will kick your ass and get you kicked out of here" then moved out of my way. I proceeded to walk out of the haunted house very disturbed and unsure what I deserved as a paying customer to get verbally harassed in that way.When we left as a group the woman was waiting at the exit and it looked like she really did want to assault me or someone else so we left as soon as possible. Also, the train that takes you to the other attractions leaves much to be desired in terms of how scary these things are. They don't allow you to use your phone and the ride bores you to tears. Not worth $25 and I definitely will look for other haunted attractions next year. read more

If you want to spend time with your friends this is the right place. But remember if you don't wanna go in and you already paid you won't get your money back but they will take you put if you don't want to go further. When your waiting in line it doesn't take as long unless it there is a lot of people that day. But the time will go fast while your in line and there will be actors going through the line to give you a scare. But other wise i had a really fun time with my friend's. Terror on the Fox must be one of the best haunted houses in the entire state! I go every year. First you board a haunted train, which later arrives In front of a haunted house. On the train are actors who wear scary costumes. It is dark and there is artificial smoke. I don't want to give away the secrets of the haunted house, but it is scary and fun. And for Adam, who takes a little two year old to a haunted house, and one that has a website as I recall describing the attraction, he should get an award for "parent in need of improvement" read more
