There was no wait and no preambling long speech about rules and such, which I appreciated. Since my friend dropped out last minute, I went alone and had a really fantastic time. If you can go alone, it's wonderful and only increases the tension and heightened surprise around every corner. I've been to many haunted houses and find most of them rather unimpressive or generally not scary at all, but this one managed to get my heart rate up *and* got at least a few jump scares out of me, especially in the first half. It was overall a great thrill ride, especially going in alone, and I really enjoyed the immersion, the commitment of the actors and the detailed, colorful set designs and cool animatronics. There were times I wanted to walk even slower to really take everything in and enjoy it. I spent most of the time laughing with glee and saying to myself "THIS IS DOPE." While the 3D glasses section didn't do much for me (maybe it's just my eyesight, but the effects here looked a bit blurry and not very three-dimensional), that's a minor critique. This haunt is also quite expensive, but in my opinion worth it if you love these kind of immersive experiences, especially of the scary variety. Bonus points for the friendly staff letting me switch my time slot from 7 pm to 11:30 after my friend dropped out with no issue or fuss.

It took about 20min total, which I'm totally fine with. When we got there (Halloween Night), they were running behind which is to be expected. The staff said about 15-20min and took about 20min. You can buy RIP (VIP) tickets to jump the line, but honestly, it went by pretty quick. I think the bad reviews on here are maybe people that shouldn't have gone in the first place. For the caliber of staff and production, it seemed a reasonable price. If you've ever gone to Halloween Horror Nights or the like, this seemed totally on par with those scary events. It was originally built German immigrant Balthasar Kreischer in or around 1885. I learned the incredible architecture style is called American Queen Anne. I won't go in to the all the details but Edward Kreischer, allegedly committed suicide here in 1894. Some say his wife was poisoning him with the help of a doctor with which she was having an affair. His haunting of the house has been repeatedly claimed. In 1998, the caretaker of the house was revealed to be a hit man for the Bonanno crime family. He was convicted of committing a murder on the property three years previously. The house has been used as a set for various television shows including Boardwalk Empire. What will it become? We will have to wait and see. What about the reports of haunting? Will they continue? Time will tell. Unique places make life interesting.

Reach early to grab a good spot and of course wear layers. More than 50,000 zombies, ghouls, witches, giant puppets and more things that go bump in the night take the streets for a night of costumed revelry. Lanterns, bands, the day of the dead folks, it was amazing. folks dressed up were keep coming and entertaining the kids in the crowd. it was super fun. I loved the creativity brought in. Everyone was having a great time. The event was very well organized. The crowd was very packed on every intersection. overall a very great turn out of New Yorkers and tourists few notes: if you wanna participate - It is free to march in the parade, but costumes are mandatory, so make sure you bring it or you'll be left behind in civilian duds. The procession lines up at Sixth Ave and Canal St and rolls out from 6:30pm-8:30pm. North and west entrances to Sixth Ave will be blocked off by 6:30 pm, so join the line from East Broome, Sullivan and Canal streets east of Sixth Ave. We recommend gathering your fellow creatures of the night a few blocks away rather than trying to find your group in the middle of the chaotic lineup. Just because you're not wearing a costume this year doesn't mean you don't get to the party. Get to Sixth Ave early and grab a lookout spot before the parade rolls out at 7 pm. Sixth Ave becomes most congested with spectators between Bleeker and 14th Sts, so we suggest setting up camp at either the head (Spring to W Houston Sts) or tail (14th St to 16th St) of the parade. When I finally reached the front of the line & my ticket was scanned the man tells me "Oh you were supposed to be standing here because you have a VIP ticket" Yet no one said anything to anyone nor was there any signage. He never gave me a ticket for my drink, I had to ask for it & he told me I get it when I go inside. I get inside and ask for my drink & was told that I was supposed to get the ticket at the door. Safe to say that I was annoyed because at that point I was at the end of the haunted house & could not return to get what I paid for so I ended up buying a syringe filled drink for $25 that was so nasty, I ended up throwing it out. Now lets talk about the walk through this mediocre haunted house. Far from scary, no jump scares & the costumes / face painting a big no for me. It was literally about a 3 minute walk through & that's probably pushing it because it could have been less. I left with fake cobwebs stuck to my leather jacket & sneakers that's how much of it they had everywhere. I'm sorry but for the price this haunted house needs major improvements. Their advertisments were better & scarier than the attraction itself.
