This place is a fire marshals nightmare (small hallways everywhere, a super tiny elevator, narrow staircase, unmarked exits). I was lucky to score some tickets to Trainspotting Live. The 'theater' where this play was is a rectangular room. Three sides of the room have raised platforms with two levels of restaurant style chairs. Trainspotting is all about drug use and this 'theater' is perfect for this show. They also had Drunk Shakespeare showing in the theater next door. At certain parts of the show you could clearly hear the other show. If you're not looking for a typical fancy, schmancy theater experience you will enjoy your show. Don't overpay for seats with a view. There is no bad seat in the house here. Unless you're here for Trainspotting, then avoid the seats around the toilet. read more

After being directed up to the second floor I was taken aback by the new bar and lounge area (where you are corralled between shows) I knew something was different and it's the renovations that have this theatre looking Ab/Fab. I have seen Drunk Shakespeare about 6-7 times now, at various locations. Always MacBeth. I suppose I go so often on the hopes that it might be a different play However... that stated NEVER disappointed and aside from one actor in the play, everyone else was brand new and amazing. If you love Willy and good drinks.... then you must see this show. The late show has one of the cast waaaay more drunk than the 8pm and let me tell you, reciting Shakespeare is tough enough sober... hats off to this troupe that takes it to a whole other level. Talk about a no-frills theater. On the night we arrived here to see Sex tips For Straight Woman From A Gay Man there was no elevator working so we had to climb up like four flights of stairs. Really not cool if you have bad knees, health problems, or some such ailment that makes this type of walk painful. Not cool at all. This theater is small, intimate, and kind of hidden along the shops on 8th Ave. By intimate I mean super small which does work for shows such as this. The seating was ok and the theater itself is clean enough, but the ladies in our group said the bathrooms were a nasty abomination, so hold it in if you can as the show is only a little over an hour long. There is a small bar in here too to get your drink on. Takes cash or credit card. Also, why are people here reviewing the show? This listing is for the actual theater itself. Some people really need to learn how to read. As the commercial says - "That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works." read more

All the talents in this play are extremely talented, super attractive and personable. Usually after any show, I like to discuss the actual story with my friends but I found myself a super-fan of the cast. I immediately wanted to read about their bio and what other shows they've done. The main character Dan is very lovable and his open mind discussion (which includes the audience) sometimes makes me blush. BTW, the front of the theater (which I think they call the "wet zone") has several chances to be on-stage. I don't want to give too much of the story away but it isn't for the closed-minded. I wasn't in-love with the story, it was ... but I loved seeing the cast member performing. read more

This is a nice off-Broadway theater. I came here to see a show with one of my good friends. I decided that taking the stairs wouldn't be bad because it's on the second floor, HA, the second floor is nearly 4 flights up. The funny signs on each level make the walk up slightly entertaining. The theater is cozy, the box office is cash only, and the bar accepts credit cards. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed ourselves. It was a good show and the free drink was great as well. read more

If you're here to find out about the play, it was super fabulous and hysterically funny, but my review is about the theater itself. It's always nice to go to a smaller theater. The intimacy of being close to the actors is great and there isn't a bad seat. A problem I have with a lot of theaters is that they're more than happy to sell you a drink, but damn you if you try to bring it to your seat. You better pound that beer when the lights flicker. In the case of the Triple Seven Theater, I was encouraged to bring my beer to my seats and the bar tender was kind enough to steer me to the pint sized Blue Moon rather than the 12 oz Corona. Now granted, getting in meant walking about a dingy staircase that made me think of the underground raves i attended back in the nineties, but all in all, this theater was cozy and hospitable. It's what I look for in the New York City theater scene. read more

2-1/2 stars For the record, we went to see Sex Tips here. This theater is kinda weird. The elevator is out of service, so you're forced to take the stairs which isn't always ideal or even feasible for some folks. The signage to get TO the theater is lacking and we ended up asking a lot of people which way we needed to go down the labyrinth of hallways. Show specific gripe: I'd purchased e-tickets and printed them out, but when we tried to be seated, we were instructed to go wait in line at the box office to receive our actual tickets, which may put us in different seats. THIS just plain ticked me off. I'd chosen our seats for a specific reason and the idea that it might have been for naught was beyond aggravating in addition to having to wait in a line to get tickets when I'd already printed them out was also frustrating. We didn't bother purchasing any refreshments since the show was only 75 minutes long, but I DID notice folks bringing their refreshments into the theater which isn't always allowed in other theaters...so that's a plus. The seating wasn't terrific - the seats were laid out in a way that the person in front of you was DIRECTLY in front of you. As a short person, this is ALWAYS a problem for me - I'm constantly coking my head to one side or another to see the show around the person in front of me. Very distracting...and it commonly leaves me with a crook in my neck. Another show specific gripe: The show began 25 minutes after its scheduled start time. 5-10 minutes is relatively common, but 25?! Quick show critique: The audience was VERY HEAVY on bachelorette parties and the show seemed to cater to them. The cast/audience interaction was great, but relatively typical. I did laugh out loud a couple of times and overall found the experience fun, but I'd never attend it again now that I've been once. Overall, the theater small itself was a bit run down and dingy, but it wasn't disgusting at all. We'd probably be willing to see another show here at some point. read more

I'm 99% positive that I'm not the show's target demographic, but I had a great time laughing out out. The theatre is really intimate (seats about 50?) and there's no bad seat. The timing was phenomenal, the performances were great. One of the stars went to the same college as I did! GO Hoosiers! The one thing I didn't like, was, being a gender studies major, I really hated the stereotyping of gay men, forced love stories, and pseudo-feminism. Other than the motifs, I really loved the show! Went to this theater last might to see the show Sex tips... and the play itself was hilarious. Loved every minute of it. But this review is about the theater itself. I get that many buildings in NYC are old as dirt but come onnnn!!! The elevator doesn't work or doesn't go to the second floor for whatever reason. And the multiple stairs and walls leading up to the second floor are dingy and filthy. The least they can do is wash the walls and paint them. The theater itself is small but still comfortable enough to not feel as if you're on top of one another. We went to the second show so there was a lot of paper on the floor from the previous play. They could've cleaned that up so we'd be surprised at our show. Seeing it on the floor already kinda gave away what was to happen. Like I said the play gets 5 stars but the theater gets 1...barely. read more

The show itself is absolutely hysterical. There is no doubt about that. I literally cried laughing throughout the whole thing. So the show is definitely worth seeing for a fun night out but there are a few things to note about this venue/production. First, you've got to climb the stairs to the second floor. The elevator is so slow and there are too many people for the elevator to serve any kind of useful purpose. So beware and stretch those quads before you head into this theater. Secondly, the website for the show talks about a "bar" that is open an hour before the show begins so that you can go, relax and have a few drinks before the show. That's a partial lie. This "bar" is a table with a bare minimum selection of libations that are less than desirable served my a bitchy male bartender that clearly has zero desire to be there. Total turn off. Not to mention this "bar" is in a 4x4 area where all of these people barely fit. Third, this theater is small and dirty. I saw the 9:30pm show and it was a hot mess from the 7pm show. It's a small production so I wasn't expecting some kind of amazing gala but I also wasn't expecting to have my shoes glued to the floor by an unknown foreign substance. Ew. Again, the show was hilarious. This review is aimed at the theater and their bitchy barmaid. Get it together 777 Theater. read more

Came here to see Sex Tips For Straight Women from a Gay Man. The theater is as expected for a "off Broadway" show. It's small, I would say fits around 100 or so. But the seats are comfortable. Came with a few friends and we all had a great time. The show was hilarious, well maybe because we sat in the front row and a few of my friends were chosen to participate. I'll leave the details out. I would say the show was catered more towards women or gay men (like duh). I'm neither but still had a good time. Enjoy the show. read more

Where do I begin.....the theater is located on the "2nd floor." My friends and I chose to take the stairs, it was more like 6 long flights of stairs. The theater is dated, seats uncomfortable. The performance could have been much better, but it was quite tragic. Not a funny performance. It was so disappointing. The show was maybe an hour long & for the cost, not worth it at all. Save your money for a real broadway show. read more
