Mrs Ferguson's credo is just live with proper "christian" etiquette, stuff up your problems, live on as if they don't exist and eventually everything will solve itself. What she did give us was "practical advice". When we told her we went on vacation to our hometown and were worried about some family issues she advised us to make sure we stopped newspaper delivery during our trip. An other recommendation she made, even a few times, was to put dots on the labels of the laundry of the kids so that we can more easily sort them when washed. Very friendly of her, but not what we were paying a therapist for! Mrs Pamela' s son died when he was in college and she will take every opportunity to tell you about him. I have the feeling that we were footing the time she needed to come to terms with her loss. In her private life she is quite well-off and I had the feeling that real life problems of real life people (like us) don't exactly resonate with her. Also, I have found her to be conservative and narrow minded. We have visited Mrs. Pam for almost three years, most of the time once a week. In this period she suggested (advised?) the possibility of divorce regularly, and offered repeatedly to assist with the process. Instead we eventually chose for our marriage by looking for help elsewhere. The process we went into after that, was rough and painful. We needed to tear open all that was just stuffed away in the "Mrs. Pam years". You have to be open for it, and invest yourself into it, but in the end it did indeed give real results. If you are looking for couples counseling, go somewhere else, I am glad we did.
