Life is not perfect and neither are any of us. Learning to love each other with faith based teachings has provided my wife and I with a tremendous path forward. I normally don't write negative reviews, but my experience with Dr. Robbins left me deeply…read moredisturbed, especially during our last couples therapy session. One of the most concerning moments was when he told me that my childhood trauma was my "perception." I shared that my mom would wake me up in the middle of the night to console her through panic attacks. I then asked him if a child being molested by a parent would also be "perception," and he said yes. He later clarified that perception doesn't mean it didn't happen--but using that word felt extremely invalidating. When I expressed that, he dismissively responded, "Okay, I just won't use that word if you don't like it." Throughout our sessions, he emphasized "self-control." When I shared that I believe control and self-control are often used to push away feelings, he immediately told me we could not work together. When I tried to explain my perspective, he shut down and refused to share his own thoughts. During that same session, he disengaged almost completely--remaining silent and appearing to stare me down. He said he didn't want to "argue," but I was simply expressing how I felt. Therapy should be a safe space to communicate openly, not one where a therapist withdraws when challenged. There was also a situation where my wife stormed out of last session because I didn't want to spend our 45 minute session going through a 50-page workbook. I preferred to do that outside of session time. Despite this, Dr. Robbins placed the blame entirely on me. And because I kept urging Dr. Robbins to look at the underlying root issues in our relationship, he acted very childishly by using that same approach in a crude way on me. My wife lost our family 500k by gambling it away in stocks and crypto. He asked how it made me feel and what trauma that was coming from. Obviously, it makes me feel like I don't matter, but I want to break the cycle of my childhood trauma where boundaries were not allowed, and I want to set boundaries with my wife. When Dr. Robbins heard that, he didn't care to respond, because his main goal was to one up me by using the root cause methods I was urging him to use. At another point, he asked, "Where do feelings come from?" I said the inner child, and he responded, "No, it comes from behavior." I am always talking to my son about feelings and emotions, and after the session I told him what Dr. Robbins said about feelings not coming from the inner child. My six-year-old son's immediate response was, "what the h*ll." Even my six-year old son is emotionally smarter than Dr. Robbins. I would not recommend working with Dr. Robbins because he uses his pain and his coping mechanisms to dictate the session. After ten sessions, we had no real improvement in our relationship.

I have to admit, I was probably in a bit of a crisis mindset since our issues were bubbled at the surface, so it felt like the session was unorganized, which I know I contributed to that. She didn't get any information prior to our session, so it felt like she went in blind and didn't have any frame or reference to what help we needed. At the end of the first session, she gave us "homework" which I think would have been tremendously helpful had it been done prior to the first session so that my husband and I could organize our thoughts, and she could have some indication of the help we needed so that she could be most effective in the session. They don't take insurance, so paying cash for a session, you really want to be able to make the most of the money spent. I think bc of her unfamiliarity with our situation, she made some suggestions that were obvious and things we had already done. I also felt like she made other suggestions for things that were not issues we were seeking services for. My husband and I both felt like it wasn't the most effective session, but that is how therapy works! You keep "shopping" until you find someone you feel best with. I will say she was patient and calm, and did allow me to speak. She made sure to include all parties and really was solution focused. I think she can be very effective for some, I just think it was my poor demeanor related to the need for therapy that marred our visit.

Ms Golden…read moreexacerbated my children's anxiety they were experiencing as a result of a divorce and teamed up with my ex-wife to advocate on her behalf throughout the case. By the time I figured out that she was contributing to my family's destruction it was too late. She and the children and my ex had become emotionally attached and the court viewed that as a positive thing. She regularly reported me to CPS for emotional and physical abuse and each investigation concluded that there was no evidence to substantiate the report and that the Ms Golden was mis-informed. My ex then used Ms. Golden's unsubstantiated reports in family court to restrict my custody time. Yes, you are guilty until proven innocent in family court, something my ex's attorney (also female) knew quite well. It was a well orchestrated attack on an unsuspecting father, using and manipulating my children for their own emotional and financial gain. I never knew humanity to stoop so low, all under the guise of 'the best interest of the child' as advocated by family court. When discussing one particular report of abuse, Ms Golden told me "the truth of [my son's] allegation doesn't matter. What matters is what [my son] FEELS the truth is." This confirmed my suspicions developed over the preceding 6 months. The actual truth is that Ms. Golden had no experience working with children in a high conflict divorce, she had no parenting experience of her own, and she was unlicensed at the time she recommended weekly therapy. Her therapeutic experience is with young adults suffering from trauma. She applied this experience to my children (8 and 9) and offered separate 'parenting sessions' to me and my ex, totaling 4 sessions a week. I quickly opted out recognizing her 'therapy' only as a scam and a way to further separate me from my children. My ex on the other hand used Ms Golden masterfully to obtain the 'expert' testimony she needed to obtain full custody. I find it horrifically ironic that in my case the people making accusations of abuse (Ms. Golden and my ex) were same people stoking chaos and subjecting my children to the chaos that created their anxiety to begin with. And rather than help my children understand that they have a loving father and their relationship with him is important, Ms Golden did the exact opposite. Ms Golden obviously lacks the therapeutic, ethical, and parental foundation that any well meaning parent would seek for their child's psychologist. Your child's mind is sacred ground that should be protected against therapists like Ms. Golden.

I called the following week asking for another appointment again. I was left with no one giving me a call these next two Fridays so I've gone a month without help and it was something and it is something I feel that I desperately need you are dealing with people's mental health, and the fact that I was so neglected and uncared for really hurts my heart and I hope I'm the only person that has experienced this with this business. I sincerely hope you guys learn your lesson from me and please do better because I know if it was somebody more sensitive than I there could've been worse consequences for the neglect.
