Teske's is a great local business and resource for all things animal, lawn, and garden. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly, they have a great variety of treats, toys, and quality food for my dogs. Their aquarium section is the best in the Quad Cities. However, I'm highly reticent to visit Teske's or to recommend them to anyone on the basis that they sell puppies, kittens, bunnies, birds, and reptiles from breeders rather than supporting local rescue organizations. The pet overpopulation problem in our country is real, and I have a difficult time patronizing any business that supports its perpetuation. read more

Cute place lots of different fish to buy and the animals are very friendly. They have lots of variety of lawn products and pet products. They have very clean cages and they even have to store mascot. Marvin the huge bunny. BUT SADLY They aren't a shelter you do not adopt these pets you buy them. Don't shop, adopt, save a life. read more

Bought two puppies that ended up having mange and intestinal problems. Technically we could taken them back but after a couple hours we were smitten. There was a year of vet trips but we now have two adorable healthy girls. We were later warned by vets about the Puppy Mill suspicions. read more

This is the worst store I have ever been to. Who puts animals on display with a sign on it that says " you can not hold and not for sale". The employees are very unfriendly and try everything in their power to stay away from their clients. Another thing that is very shitty about this place is that you can't hold a dog even if you are 17 years old. I am completely capable of holding a dog with out dropping it like a 2 year old would. I wanted to complain about the lady who said I couldn't hold the puppy when she let a five year old hold it before me. I will never go back!!! read more

so let me tell you how not to run a business!!!! i went there today with my 7 year old daughter who was very excited to get a new pupper and we waited outside for a good 45 minutes and spoke to a buyer that was interested in the same pup said she had drove an hour away and that she had been there just a little longer than us . me and my daughter were in line first and the first to speak to someone in regards to adopting this dog. the lady that wanted the same dog went up and said she had been there longer and the other employee comes and tells us that we cant have that dog because it is first come first serve.... to me first come first serve is the first in line first to talk to someone and an employee the day before gave us the exact scenario we were in to where she said that it doesnt matter who is in the parking lot first its who is in the store first and who is first to claim the dog which was me but the employee decided to let the other woman have it and so i got upset because i came there with the intent of leaving with a pup and left with nothing because how the store treated me and i voiced what the other employee said and told them to make sure everyone was on the same page because if that was the case i wouldnt have waited knowing the woman that was there longer wanted the same dog i would have left so we didnt waste any time. read more

Over all I think Teske's is a good store, however I am disurbed by the fact that they don't give their reptiles water. All animals need water. Tortoises need water to soak their bowels so they can eliminate their waste. Also, they should have shell cream for their skin and shell to keep them moist. Teske's does not carry any that I have seen. I do shop Moline Teske's a lot for bird supplies. They have excellent prices and intelligent employees. read more

My boyfriend and I just recently purchased a betta fish from this store two days ago. We got home and showed him his new home. After letting him float in the tank for a good hour and half we let him out of his cup not mixing the cup water with the tank water. He seemed to be happy, and moved around a lot. Also had a good appetite. Today we woke up and I noticed that he had fungus on him! We checked the water quality and it all checked out. Extremely disappointed in this matter, and disappointed in not being able to purchase any heathy fish in the quad cities! If anyone has a suggestion on where to get a heathy betta let me know. We went to the Teskes in Bettendorf. They always say don't purchase pets in stores because they support puppy mills. Well, I went in there and thought the people were nice, the place was clean and they only have a few puppies and kittens at a time, so surely they do not support mills. Well, I cannot confirm this for sure, but I do know I purchased a "Chorkie" (Chihuahua and Yorkie) there and he has had poor health from the start. Found out by my vet that he is not as old as they claimed because he still has his puppy teeth which put him well under 8 weeks instead of the 10 weeks we thought he was when purchased. For small breeds, it is very dangerous to wean a puppy less than 8 weeks of age. This makes me believe they do not check their sources and I would suggest not purchasing puppies from them. After hundreds of dollars and lots of TLC, he hopefully will be healthy now, but I should have heeded the advice of my peers. read more

I went there to look at the leopard geckos and found that they were extremely unhealthy. A friend of mine purchased a few geckos from the exact same group two months ago. Her's are thriving and very healthy, while the ones at the pet store were small and their tails were very, very skinny. Also, I noticed they had mix puppies for sale. I noticed on the tag it had the "breeder's" name and address. I googled the so called "breeder" and found nothing of his reputable breeding, but instead found only jail records and mug shots. Along with his name on the tag on the puppy's pin, was the "registered" parents of the dog, one being a pure bred dog and the other being a mix. And if you know anything about dogs, you would know that you can't register a mix breed dog. I found it ridiculous that Teske's was selling mutt puppies for $600. Also, a reputable breeder would NEVER sell their puppies to a pet store. If you want to purchase a pet, i recommend adopting from a shelter or rescue or going right to the breeder. Teske's employees and management were also very rude and not very knowledgeable. They also didnt have enough people working; there was a line just to talk to someone. The only thing I do like about Teske's is their reasonable prices. read more
