We held our daughters sweet 16 celebration there last night and had a great time as chef Hanna and owner Barbara really made us feel like family! We maxed out the capacity and still had plenty of space They have a stunning outdoor patio as an option for our guest, with fire pits to keep everyone warm. There is only one bathroom but we were offered to rent restrooms however we took our chance and had no issues at all! What a gem of a place!!! I ordered through the Grab n Go and went in to do my pick up. This was my first time coming in. The place is clean, everyone was friendly and picking up was very efficient. I ordered a chicken pot pie (by recommendation of many friends) and it did not disappoint!!! We also ordered the bread pudding. Delicious. We added vanilla ice cream with it which we picked up from Callahans right out front! We also got some of the sausages they sell from Lockeford. Yum!!! I like that the menu for pick up offers new things each week and keeps some of the favorites (chicken pot pie)! Can't wait to order again!!! read more

Wow!! I was completely in awe with Tess's, it made for such a beautiful wedding reception venue! It fit perfectly for the reception that we attended, and really showed off the countryside of Northern California. It is a small building, but had a big backyard area for the 200-300 people that attended. Also plenty of parking. I'm not 100% sure if the bartenders there were a part of their facility, but either way they were great and very friendly to everyone. I believe the food was catered through someone else and not through them directly. It was especially beautiful at night, with plenty of lighting and had a wonderful view of the stars. read more

Nice venue as far as the view but for an event, there is ONE bathroom node 150 people. Not one for males and females even, ONE. We waited 45 minutes. When we walked in we thought we were in the wrong event as they kept their wedding decorations up to advertise their venue during a memorial! They kept their wine bar up with open bottles and glasses out but if you asked for one you were told it wasn't included. That's fine, we didn't expect wine, but why is it OUT as if it was? Advertising again? Very confusing and a bit disrespectful to the people who paid to rent your venue out. read more

Oh no. Just no. What a disappointment. We bought tickets for the Breakfast with the Bunny event, $15 adults/$10 children. We had never been here before. Given this is a "kitchen" I was expecting some good food, as well as hospitality and ambiance. Nope on all counts. First, the event started at 9:30. We arrived early so we could get a good seat and entered through an open door. They were still setting up and were told to leave until the "big doors" open. So we ended up waiting in the car They literally opened the doors at 9:30 while people were waiting in their cars for 15-20 minutes to avoid the cold. Check in was very unorganized. They email a QRcode when you buy your ticket, but check in was through saying your last name to someone with a paper list. They hand you an envelope, but don't tell you what it's for. Are these raffle tickets? Food tickets? Drink tickets? Egg hunt tickets? I have no idea. Seating was EXTREMELY crowded. I had to put my child on my lap if we wanted to sit all together, until the nice family next to us moved down a seat to help. Even so, to maneuver between tables was impossible for anyone but small children. It was as if they wanted to crowd in as many people as possible. The food: Choice of plain or chocolate chip pancakes, both types were dry and not kept very warm. No butter for your pancakes, and only one bottle of syrup to pour from at the end of the food line made for a bottleneck as people stopped to pour. Then if you wanted more syrup you had to go try to beg your way back through. You got sausages with it but for $10/$15 it was a HUGE disappointment. One pancake and two sausages. Juice boxes, coffee or hot chocolate were the only drink options unless you wanted to shell out another $5 for a mimosa. Honestly, the food is better at our church pancake breakfast - at least the pancakes are fluffy. Service: This event was so unorganized. From the squished together seating, to the lack of a host/hostess, to the horrible layout for getting food - it was not well thought out. Event started at 9:30, and after you had checked in, managed to find seats together, took a pic with the bunny, and ate your food you really felt rushed. Why? Because we were reminded that there's another seating after us... so basically, hurry up! There was no friendly face representing the establishment saying "Welcome to Tess's" or letting people know what the schedule of events was. In fact, the most cordial person there was the photographer. Egg hunt: There was an egg hunt, but had we not already been outside we wouldn't have known it was time to start. They couldn't get their microphone to work to make an announcement and we had to run back in to get my niece. No heads up, like "Hey the egg hunt is happening at 10:15!" If you took your kid to the bathroom at that time you might have missed the whole thing. The eggs were filled with cheap toys and kids were limited to 5 eggs each. The eggs were strewn around the back of the building, which is basically just weeds. At the free egg hunt downtown or veterans park the prizes/candy are higher quality and there's no per kid limit. Overall, for a Breakfast with the bunny, we hardly saw the bunny. And at a place that bills itself as a "kitchen" I would expect better food. I'm guessing their per person cost was $2-$3 and they charged $10-$15. This event was more like a free church egg hunt/breakfast than a $10/$15 PAID breakfast at a "kitchen" establishment. We will not be back to waste our money. read more

BBQ was incredible!! Hubby found this place online & ordered a family meal (4-6 ppl, $60), plus some sausages. I had my doubts at first when picking it up. The ribs were cooked to perfection. Side homemade pot sal & beans quite good. It fed 4 easily. Next time I'll add some cornbread I make at home. At first the boneless, skinless round chicken thighs looked odd. The next night I slowly reheated them in a covered pan with a bit of water at low oven temp. They were big, juicy, smoked & wonderful. My fav! We grabbed fresh corn, and had the peach cobbler that came with it. (put in same oven with chicken).That was simple and just right! I guess they do events and wine tasting. The place was very clean and nice looking. They had some other things in the cooler for sale all homemade. We'll try those next time. We drove down from Sacramento & it was sure worth it! read more

Well---after driving by this place daily from DB to Brentwood, we thought we'd stop in, look around, try breakfast. First off, the staff is very friendly. We had a wonderful talk about coffee with the tall lady (no name tag, no idea who she was) about the roaster. She didn't know the source of the beans, which was disappointing. The produce, especially going into the weekend---Farm to Table? check the picks. Produce wilted from being in the cooler (the Brussel sprouts felt nearly frozen) and some items actually had commercial sale PLU stickers on them (refer pics). Undermined any sense of a local, organic, farm to table enterprise. Kitchen- odd, aggressive menu- My Wife went with the Croissant sandwich- she thought it was okay- the cantaloupe side bowl was under ripe and had rind on it- just careless. I had the Quinoa cake- I didn't expect a lot, and was not disappointed- except in flavor- none. Quinoa texture was mush, strawberry and blueberries therein, a sprinkle of slivered almonds on the side- that it all the texture there was. Hard to swallow, bland. A little vanilla and some pecans could have made this edible. Coffee- so- they have this incredible roaster- really nice- and the beans had a nice aroma from the bag- maybe a 7/10, about the same as Starbucks. The coffee was cold (she did make a new pot) and flavor was diluted to say the least- We felt like we were drinking coffee from a hotel room coffee brewer, and were disappointed. All in all, 2 cups of coffee, a breakfast sandwich and a quinoa cake- with tip, $20.00. I think we'll just go to MJs in the future. Overall a disappointment. From what we have seen and read about, it looks like it is the owner's little play place, orchard dinners, etc. if she really wants to make a viable go of it, and be a part of the community, it needs to be a welcoming place with quality control. We saw none on our visit- just "whatever" attitude in food quality. The produce, given our time of the year, in the middle of many farms---come-on, buying and selling retail apples and soggy eggplants? Not like any farmer's market we've been to. She needs to be able to compete with the many fruit stands around the area, and as it seems, she is way short. Good luck, great building, hope it gets pulled together. read more

What a great new find here in Brentwood! Our new favorite breakfast and lunch spot. Fresh organic food from the local farmers that was delicious. Breakfast sandwich with red onion jam that was amazing. Did not know it was red onion jam until afterward. I never would have guessed. My wife had the breakfast frittata which was equally delicious. I ordered the 'inspired daily' seasonal frittata. Today it was spinach, sweet bell peppers, mushrooms and cheese. I helped myself to coffee as I waited. The coffee was hot and a great blend. When the frittata came out, it was hot and smelled wonderful! It was served with a mixed greens side salad and house dressing. The dressing was a homemade peach vinigarette. It was Devine! The food is good I just wish they were more welcoming. I came in today and the woman who greeted me seemed annoyed that I was there after they had an event and needed to clean up. With all the farms and kitchens in the area I think customer service is what sets them apart, and as I said I just don't feel very welcome the few times I came here. I had an event here and unfortunately the service was awful. The venue itself was good. When I went to initially look I was told if we got food with them they would give a 25% discount which was not honored. We had discussed several things they didn't follow through with. Our event was 3 hours long. I had called to see if we could extend it and was told it was ok if we stayed a little later. During my event I was approached and asked to start cleaning up an hour before my event ended. I had to go get the contract to show them that we still had an hour left. At that time they tried to tell me that we were supposed to end early to clean up. When I told them that was never disclosed to me she said well if you're going to get upset just stay. I had to ask for more tables because they didn't have out the amount in our contract. When I asked for them they told me they had to check the contract. I was told not to worry about stuff to put out drinks in that they had big buckets and ice. When we got there they didn't have anything. I asked and they brought out 2 tubs restaurant's use to clear tables with. One of the staff sat at the tables for our guests during my event. They told me I could bring outside food in so I had a friend buy food. When we got there they wouldn't let us put it out because it was a health dept issue. Which I would have been ok with if it was disclosed to me. I even had to go back and show them the contract to show it isn't disclosed in there either. I ordered specific cupcakes from them and when I got there they were completely different. They did compensate me for that error. I should have been notified prior to the event to see if it was ok. This event was a memorial and I felt like they had no compassion and caused so many avoidable issues for me to deal with instead of me being able to morn with the rest of the guests. I'm just glad that no one else knew all the stuff I had to deal with especially my mom who was grieving the loss of her son. read more

Decided to try this place after driving by almost daily, and not in a hurry to go back. I really wanted to like this spot since it's right near our house, but the food was mediocre and the venue not inspiring. Had the veggie wrap and it was a 5/10. Pesto tortilla was really delicious, but the veggies were hot so the avocado and lettuce became soggy, and there was too much dressing that was dripping. Also too many onions that left me tasting onion afterwards. No side salad and somewhat small wrap for $12 with tip. Old flowers in the table didn't add to a good atmosphere. Still going to give it one more try, maybe on a weekend would be better. Very limited menu as well, seems they make the majority of their focus/income on cooking classes and renting the space for events. read more

Stopped in to grab some lunch to go. Got market salad. Comes with ranch, chicken and tomatoes. The girl helping me added beets. Also grabbed a pumpkin cupcake and watermelon iced tea. The salad was awesome! Chicken was cooked perfect and the dressing was delicious as well as the fresh beets. The pumpkin cupcake was super moist. And the icing wasn't over bearing. It was light and fluffy. And the watermelon tea was refreshing! Definitely will be going back. Took some Googling to map this gem. Way out on the backside of Brentwood it sits in lonely glory just waiting for a crowd to find it. My friend and I had a delicious lunch of turkey sandwiches and potato salad. The sandwiches sat a good inch high with thin sliced roast turkey and a nice cranberry relish. The potato salad was delicious, made on site with real ingrediants. The sandwich was served on toasted whole grain bread with fresh romain greens. I had a glass of iced green tea and my friend had iced hibiscus tea. Both very tasty. A little pricey for us but fine for an occasional treat. I'll look forward to trying their soups. read more

I really loved the idea and feel of this local community kitchen. All the food tasted fresh and the choices were great! My only suggestion would be that for the kid menu choice just add a simple PBJ sandwich or grilled cheese. Half sandwich offer is great but the sandwiches are a little too sophisticated for a kids palate I believe. Also I got the turkey sandwich and the turkey was a bit dry, the onion jam on it was delicious! Would for sure go and try again. read more

We had our office Christmas party there, was not impressed by the food or the service. The wait-stag completely forgot our table and we were served after all other tables. No apologies from manager or owner. The dessert was a joke, 3 quarter size chocolate mousse "droppings." There was very little to no lighting for the parking lot or entrance. Made it extremely difficult to see at night where the entrance was. The wait-staff was clearing our tables (during our awards ceremony) and making us feel rushed to get out of there. They even turned the lights out so we can get a "clue" to get out! That was so rude. Not going there ever again. I would not recommend this place for any events unless you like bad service, bad attitude from management and less than impressive food. read more

I had been wanting to visit Tess's for awhile. Finally made it today. I thought it was just an indoor farmers market, I was really surprised to find out about the dining area. I love to shop and eat local and was happy to see the "not the normal" menu. We walked into the market area first. Small selection, but if they keep stocking on the olive oils, honey and other food items, it can be good. What was a huge disappointment was the unfriendly service. I don't know who the woman was...owner, worker...I don't know...Tall, brown hair. But she did not once say hello to us. She was so involved with another couple, and even when we walked right next to her...didn't say a word. Really? Did it look like we weren't the buying type? Checking things out we walked over to see the baked items etc. Now the young girl who took orders and was the cashier was so very friendly as was the chef, who smiled and greeted us. We did buy a few items. The only thing we have tasted so far is the pumpkin cupcake. The cake had no flavor. Not even a little. None. The frosting was a very light cream cheese flavor...which was very good. A pumpkin cupcake should taste at least a little like pumpkin...this was odd as it didnt taste like anything...not even vanilla. Don't know if we will make the drive out there again...Customer service is huge..and one person can make a difference on a return visit. read more
