Everyone talks about how gas stations rip people off, and yes, you can find prices here that exceed HEB's, but if you look, you can also find prices that make you smile, such as the price of a $1.00 for a large packet of "Japanese Peanuts". I'm not the kind of girl who sits on the toilet seat of a gas station restroom, feels comfortable using unwrapped straws from anywhere, and I always use the restroom before ordering at any new restaurant...just to make sure that there's soap in the dispenser. So - believe me -- when I create a restaurant profile for a place---a GAS STATION, no less...you better believe that this place rocks. I pulled over to buy combos and mineral water (don't judge me for that) and was stopped in my tracks by the choking odor of stewing jalapenos. I felt four years old -- and I expected my maternal grandmother to be there with a freshly butchered goat waiting to go into the stewed peppers...but no. It was just a young woman--texting and cooking. AMAZING. I ordered gorditas (stuffed tortillas) -- one beef fajita and one al pastor. As other customers picked up their steaming hot fare heaping with flavorful goodness that I couldn't identify for the gorgeous lettuce, tomato and cheese covering it - I began to second guess my decision to order such pedestrian street fare....but oh no - I was not to be disappointed. If you want to experience traditional Mexican food -- If you want to know what my childhood was like -- If you want to up your Brown cred---then you MUST venture out to this Texaco for their delicious Mexican treats... oh- If you're veg--- you can buy cheetos from the convenience store. read more

Today for the third time I stopped to check out the $.99 breakfast tacos that they have a big sign out front for. Each time I got the runaround and the tacos were $1.80. Sometimes they say "we don't have any right now", or "what do you want on them" and no matter your answer, when you ask "how much is it" they say $1.80. Ask at the register and they say "they are separate from us" or "sorry we opened late today" which I have no idea what it has to do with the bogus sign out front for $.99 breakfast tacos. I have heard others ask for the same tacos, and they get a similar answer. No doubt, some will just go ahead and pay the higher price. Apparently this is the classic bait and switch false advertising, but no one can do anything about it, and it does get them extra walk in business. Also have just experienced rude attitude by the lady at the register when just there to get diesel fuel at the pump, which doesn't have a card reader so you have to pay in advance. Terrible place, gives 'Texaco' a bad name. read more

I'm appalled at this place..while I frequently buy the breakfast tacos at the little grill (they are tasty), I had to go in tonight to pick up sprite and ice for my ailing neighbor who is down with a stomach bug. I pulled up and notice water flowing down the parking lot--well, it's not a rainstorm, so I look over and see some dude with a hose watering the damn parking lot. This is NOT COOL. We are in an extreme drought out here and it is just a ridiculous waste of water. I go in to get my things and the place smells really bad. I just want to get the items and get out of there, but I feel the need to speak up about the water waste. I said to the check out girl, "That's just really wrong of him to be doing that. We're in a drought and that is a tremendous waste of water." She looks at me and asks."Do you live in Jonestown?" In hindsight, I should have said, first of all, what does that have to do with it? secondly, I live on this PLANET, so I am concerned when I see things like this. Instead, I just told her that yes, I do live here. For the past 16 years. She had nothing to say. I went out to get the ice bag and he's still out there, blasting the water and smoking a cigarette. I said "That's A LOT of wasted water". To which he replied, "ha, yeah, I know". OMG..I want to scream. Ok, so I got the things for my ailing friend and I'm not going back again. I plan to find out who the owner is and also talk to the city about any ordinances regarding this practice. The breakfast tacos are good, but not worth that. And, not once has the girl who serves them laid a smile on me or any customers that I can tell. The energy in that place is low and ignorant. Sad sad place. read more

I live in this town, and I try to avoid the two convenience stores if I can, but a lot of times I just need something quick. This one and the Exxon are both owned by the same person. It smells. There's usually a dog roaming around inside, with dog food on the floor. No big deal, I love dogs, but it smells. I believe the one guy lives in a van in the parking lot. He is there every time I go in, no matter the time of day. Always stocking or cleaning, or just sitting in the bench outside, but he won't help at the counter while the nice meth head lady has disappeared into the back, or the older meth head guy is smoking a cigarette at the front door, staring at you through the window until he's good and ready to put his cigarette out that you so rudely interrupted. I've bought items that were expired...by months, only realizing AFTER I get back home. The credit card readers don't work, so they have to take your card and swipe it for you and punch in the price, which is fine, until the guy coughs a lung into his hand right before you hand him your card, gross. I know this is a small town, it's not a terrible store, I've been in worse. The people aren't all that rude or mean, but they could be more professional. All in all, it just needs a new owner or new management to tighten up ship. read more
