I was visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Dallas, TX. I love apple fritters and looked at several ratings for donut shops in Dallas near their home. I visited Texan Donuts which is located in a light manufacturing and warehouse area in Garland. The store is located in a small strip shopping center. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a friendly staff person (may have been the owner). I told him it was my first visit to their store. I ordered an apple fritter and a few donuts. One of the donuts was a pumpkin spice cake donut for my daughter. She is still raving about this donut. The apple fritter was very good and filled with pieces of apples. I hit up Texan Donuts in Garland at 5 in the morning right after they opened. This was the standard donut shop and I was happily in and out. Expect all traditional classic donuts if you go. I ate a couple when I got home and these donuts had to grow on me. They weren't terrible, but I've had so much better. The sweetness was nice, however the texture and flavor of the glazed donut could use some improvement. The cake and old fashioned was slightly better. Looking at this place from the street view, you would not know they have some of the best donuts in town, but I'm here to tell you that they do! They have a full variety from simple to elaborate and everything in between & they give free donut holes with your order for free! What a bargain! Awesome hole-in-the-wall donut shop! I do recommend coming early because you can tell everyone comes here. I came around 8-9am so not too early and they were already out of chocolate glazed, so I settled for a chocolate sprinkled donut and it was just as good as any chocolate donut I've ever had. Also, the kolaches were made to my liking. Everything from the bread, to the sausage & cheese, it was all good best put. Overall, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Cronut was one of the best I've had in the area! Unfortunately cinnamon sugar is your only option but it's well worth a try. The cronut is actually crispy all throughout yet moist on the inside. The lamination was impressive. Ugh. Amazing. The apple fritter was alright the peanuts in the fritter was interesting. The cinnamon roll and donut holes were perfectly chewy and yeasty! They have glazed donut holes on the counter for gorging (most would call it sampling). I'm downing them as indiscreetly as I can, while they're putting my donut in a bag and they've put another half a dozen donut holes in the bag with your donut. SCORE. It's run by Koreans and they're Christians, if you have a praise or prayer request, you can write it on a post-it and put it on their board. They're super nice. Always busy, always good donuts. Today I was finally able to find what I've been searching for in the Dallas area for over 10 yrs. I've gone to many different donut shops over the years in search of an actual apple fritter that actually contained apples. I've been lied to and misled time after time by many proprietors as they only wanted to sell their false goods to get customers out the door and make that elusive sell. But not today! Today I found the Holy Grail of apple fritters from the most charming and yet unassuming of places. Although the donuts there looked great, I was there for the apple fritter. I asked the young lady behind the counter if they had apple fritters. She replied with a "Yes, we do". I then asked if they had apples in them and she gave me a look as if I asked if water is wet. She replied to me that they "had a ton of apples in them" She did not lie and I was definitely not disappointed. The apple fritter, although thinner I was used to, had a wonderful light bread texture that was laced with cinnamon and diced apples. The fritter reminded me of a cross between a cinnamon roll and an apple cobbler/pie. As I took that first bite, I felt like the critic on that Ratatouille movie. I savored that bite and the one after that only to finally find that it was soon gone. I had only bought 1 and soon regretted not having another as the fritter was devoured way to soon. I find it a bit pricey but for customized donuts, i guess it's the standard. Maybe their regular donuts are cheaper, but I haven't tried those. The donuts itself were soft and better than most donut places. Again, they were able to customize the donuts to spell out Happy Birthday, they looked good. I LOVE THIS PLACE! It has great breakfast foods and the usual assortment of donuts BUT what sets it apart is the donut "works of art" that are also available! Some of the donut creations are absolutely exquisitely decorated and taste YUMMY as well! So many pretty designs; in fact, I saw donuts that had been baked into the shapes of letters and spelled "Happy Birthday" while being cutely, smartly decorated. Recently ordered a large quantity for our wedding . They were beautiful!!! Every single donut was perfect , not even a crooked drip !! When we first arrived and the owner had found out we drove so far , she gave us breakfast and also threw in extra donuts for the wedding order. Everyone in our family was skeptical that we ordered donuts for a wedding , but when they saw them , they couldn't believe them .
