Everything had a very authentic, homemade feel, and it was nice to find a place that offers so many Huế-style and Central Vietnamese specialties. The small dishes were especially fun to share, and the sugar cane juice was a refreshing addition to the meal. Amazing food. I am not sure exactly what I ordered, however we got numbers # 5, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17. Out of those six orders, 5 were absolutely delicious and I will be reordering those five each time. The sixth was still really great, but not my thing. The service is very good here and they are super friendly. The only bad thing is how small the place is so if youre there during full house you will have to wait. Although it's small, I wouldn't want it to change if it affects quality. So this place is dang near perfect to me. Prices are great as well. I would highly recommend making a trip out to this place. We have been on the lookout for these Vietnamese Apps for a long time. They are pretty easy to find in Houston, not so much so in DFW. I am sorry that I can never remember the actual name but they are delish! We arrived and were greeted right away and shown a set. The server was quite patient and answered all of our questions. The food apps arrived first and come 10 to an order and these things are great! Soft rice and the toppings add a great little crunch. It seems like each time I'm in town, I have to pay them a visit. I love the baby clam noodles and the baby clam rice bowls. The assorted appetizer platter is such a treat as well. The bottom layer is a deep fried, crunchy rice cracker with a sticky, mochi-like rice filling including steamed pork sprinkled with dried shrimp flakes. My family is from Hue and they were so pleased to find this place. It's almost exactly like home to them. This place is even better than the famous California locations like Garden Grove. It is less spicy than typical Hue food though, so ask for extra Thai peppers if you want that heat. Food: 5/5 The food is fantastic. I am always on the hunt for good bun bo hue. Goc Hue's ranks within the top 5 in the Dallas/Garland/Richardson area. Whenever I go out for Vietnamese food, I have to take my fob husband along for his opinion as well and he said the bun bo hue broth here is good and that I ruined it by adding too much sate/chili oil into it. We love food from the Hue region in Vietnam: banh nam, banh bot loc, banh it ram, and banh beo chen. I'm happy to report that Goc Hue does a pretty decent job at these dishes. The prices here are cheap as well. $13.50 for a bowl of BBH with a good portion of meat -- my bowl had TWO pork hocks! My husband and I usually go out to eat Vietnamese food every Sunday after church and have a couple of restaurants in our rotation and now we will have to add Goc Hue into the mix. The Bun Bo Hue here is top-notch (perhaps the best I've tried in town). Pho Tay Do is the only other place where I will order that soup. It had the proper ingredients including a variety of tender meats, coagulated blood cake (which I haven't seen at Pho Tay Do in a long time), and a complex broth. This is my favorite bun bo hue in Garland area! If you're looking for an authentic Hue restaurant, this is the place! I tried BBH at Pho Tay Do and Phuong Nam, and neither stood out to me. Goc Hue's BBH was flavorful and perfectly-seasoned, it reminded me of my usual BBH breakfast in Vietnam! I added extra saté to make my broth spicier, since it wasn't spicy enough for me. My sister thought their normal broth was spicy enough though. They have tender meat, meat balls and congealed pork blood; the noodles were cooked perfectly and they offer bap chuoi (shredded banana leaf?) as veggies which is super authentic. We also tried their banh beo, hen xao xuc banh trang and banh nam, which all tasted authentic! My sister was happy with her banh nam, and their hen xao was unique. It was the first time I ate that dish. I like the taste of the crunchy rice cake (banh trang) with the baby snails, and their spicy sauce was the perfect combination. I would say prices are a bit higher than other restaurants in the area (around $1-2 more), but the food was delicious and very filling so I didn't mind. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, and customer service was decent. There was only the chef and one waiter when we came, but they were moving constantly to clean and prep food. Such a cute little restaurant that serves "Hue" food. The Bun Bo Hue is the star of the night, the broth is flavorful with a lot of lemongrass and the sweetness of bones. The meat is tender and well seasoned with the broth. My next favorite is the combo when you can try different varieties.
