I want to apologize to the Dive Center for taking too long to write this review. I went for training back in September of 2021. Trained with William Brooks, went to a lake and a swimming pool and he was very thorough. Price was ok, not unreasonable. I've since gone diving in places all over Mexico, Honduras, Belize and Puerto Rico. One thing that struck me was how William said, "Don't worry about your lack of the skill now, the more you dive the more you're going to absorb it.... you're going to be a great diver". but it drove me to be a better diver every time I'd go into the water. Not even sure if he's even still employed there but anyhow well worth it. One thing I believe in is always to go back to your roots and TDC was the path to my adoration of the ocean. read more

Texas Dive Center is great! I waited until the "last minute" to decide to get PADI Open Water Certified before my family trip to Turks & Caicos this summer. I called Texas Dive Center and the staff helped me work out plan to do PADI's Online Training on my own time, and then utilize one of their instructors for private lessons to complete the requisite pool and open water dives on my schedule. Greg Myer was my instructor, and he was fantastic. It's also worth mentioning the store stocks a great selection of Scubapro gear. Greg helped me choose some basics - fins, mask, snorkel, & skin suit. On the trip, I did 1-2 dives per day and had an absolutely great time. I felt like a pro, and was even able to help some of the other divers who hadn't been out in a while. If you are thinking about Scuba Certification, do it. If you are wondering if the "local shop" is any good, they are great! read more

The staff here are amazing they do have the best prices in Houston as well but even if they were more expensive I would still use them it would be worth the price to work with quality people I will be continuing my SCUBA journey with them until I run out of certifications to get or they go out of business which I really hope never happens. read more

Dishonest, incompetent, very nasty and creepy. I sent a photo of a sidemount kit available in the UK that I wanted them to build and asked for a quote. Rick Fast, the manager, wrote back and tried to over charge me. He quoted me a price OVER $800 for the MK25/G260 (more than what it retails for), tried charging me for 8 hoses (4 of them were HP hoses--why would I ever need 4 HP hoses on this simple 2 reg kit?), he tried slipping in charges for 2 extra DIN plugs (even though the MK25 already comes with them so then I would end up with 4), and the most expensive compact gauges Scubapro sells (and different from the picture). I found his practices to be very dishonest and unscrupulous. He also wrote: "the picture only had 6 hoses in it?" How many hoses does he think a sidemount kit has? 6 isn't enough? I actually only need 5 because I don't have a redundant bladder. Just goes to show his level of competency. Furthermore, when I pointed this all out, he gave me a huge long email of excuses and nasty attitude. And then ended it with: "Sounds like you are the type of customer we do not need anyway. I actually had to look up each piece and put it together. Have a good life." And then, he continued to email me. He has sent a total of TEN nasty emails to me. IN ONE OF THE EMAILS, HE TRIED GOOGLING ME AND ATTACHING A PHOTO HE FOUND ON THE WEBSITE TO THE EMAIL IN AN ATTEMPT TO INTIMIDATE ME. HE THEN PERSONALLY ATTACKED ME BASED ON HIS GOOGLE SEARCH. THIS GUY HAS MENTAL PROBLEMS. His emails also contained veiled threats of him being in the Fed and he knew where I worked and what I did for a living. He also made personal attacks based on my occupation. Regardless whether you agree with my opinion of Rick's incompetency or whether you agree that he overcharged me or not, you have to agree he's an unstable, unprofessional and nasty person. WHAT KIND OF STORE MANAGER GOES AND GOOGLES PEOPLE AND SENDS THINLY VIELED THREATS ABOUT KNOWING WHERE SOMEONE WORKS AND WHAT THEY DO IN AN EMAIL FILLED WITH PERSONAL ATTACKS? The only way I got him to stop repeatedly email me long, gibbering nasty emails was to send a cease and desist. He sent me ten emails one after another. Who needs to send a cease and desist? That's ridiculous it had to get to this point but that was the only way to get him to stop repeatedly email me. I tried not responding to his emails and he would email again. I also got a quote form several other scuba dealers within Texas and outside of Texas. NO ONE messed it up as badly as he did. NO ONE had as many excuses as he did. NO ONE got as nasty as he did. And NO ONE tried to rip me off as badly. Why buy from this yahoo whe you can go somewhere else? At the very best, he doesn't know what he's doing. At the very worst, he is dishonest scam artist. Either way, he's also nasty and creepy. As you can see in his response, he's bringing up my occupation again. He just makes himself look bad and unprofessional. I also believe he was trying to overcharge and scam me. No one added all these "extra" things into the quote and I solicited quotes in multiple states. I am a strong believer that when there is an issue, the way companies handle the issue shows much more about what type of company they are. The guy is a nutjob who is going to stalk you, send you repeated emails and try to find photos of you on Google. Go somewhere else. Why even bother? read more

Hands down a fantastic place to teach the family to dive. I am a father of a family of five (kids 11, 15 and 19) and my wife. We were a bit nervous at first, but now feel 100% comfortable and confident as we go on our first dive vacation next week. The whole experience feels like family and these people care. No short cuts in the training. Jamie in particular was a fantastic instructor. I could not recommend these guys any more highly. read more

Rick helped my son and I get our advanced dive certification. He has always been so helpful to us and has even given discounts for my son who is an A&M student. This is why we followed him to his new location, Texas Dive Center. When we first visited the shop, Rick wasn't there but two other men were there who helped us just as much as Rick would have.
