SCSA, for my fifth time, was terrific...best yet. The program was well conceived, useful, thorough and while properly tiring, very fun. Captain Chris and Captain Kevin were exceptionally knowledgeable, usefully engaging, and a joy with whom to spend two days. Chris supplied useful quotable quotes at no extra charge. Not a single concern to report. I would repeat without hesitation and recommend to all. Excellent experience and value. Thank you Capt Lucy for another successful class. brian klippenstein.

Since we had so much fun sailing in San Diego, while getting our basic keel boat certification, we decided to take the kids out sailing in the Galveston Bay. We chartered a boat with a captain and he was so knowledgable and smart and friendly and...wish we had him as our instructor in San Diego instead! Yes, that's saying a lot. Bring your basket of goodies and water. We toured the bay for two hours and it went by quickly. I know it's not the San Diego harbor so there's no sea lions to look at and we saw no dolphins but if you just want to have a fun day of sailing come here! Parking not convenient, but we were allowed to park in the shops parking lot. Overall return factor high.

My husband and I took class ASA 104 the weekend of November 20, we had an amazing instructor named Craig. He made learning so much fun and very interesting. Live aboard weekend- very well organized in structure and sailing maneuvers. If you haven't sailed , it's okay this school will teach you ASA101 basic keel great class if are wanting to learn how to sail, I highly suggest using SCSA . Ask if Craig is available for the weekend you choose. If you own a sailboat and have any questions about the systems, navigation , or sailing knots - rigging- or anything I haven't mentioned - Craig will give you a through understanding from dawn to midnight if needed- Craig takes pride and joy and sharing his broad spectrum of sailing knowledge , he's patient and make sure you understand the material before moving on. He goes far and beyond , you won't regret requesting Craig ( last name is german decent, can't remember how to spell his last name . PLAN PREPARE AND TRAIN / great advice !!!! If you are interested in learning how to sail, from ground zero or as a refresher course like my husband - this is a great school to learn how to sail as well as deepen your knowledge. We would like to charter a boat in two more years and sail the Caribbean islands - that's our goal ! I feel Craig teaches 103-104 and more advanced classes, sign up and take a class , broaden one's horizon- enjoy your sailing life it's a whole different world !!! My husband and I truly loved taking the class under him,

Captain Lucy and everyone at South Coast Sailing are fantastic. Myself and my three sons took ASA 101 Basic Keelboat this week at South Coast. I did a lot of research online before selecting South Coast and I am happy to say they did not disappoint. I made the right choice. Great prices, conveniently located and the boats are top notch training vessels. Captain Jim (our instructor) was very knowledgeable both in the class and on the water. They make sure you know exactly what to prepare for, what to expect and are ready prior to the class. If you are new to sailing (like we are) you can't go wrong here. I am looking forward to ASA 103/104 Combo with South Coast and to being a part of the South Coast community.

Just finished my fourth course with South Coast and want to report that Captain Lucy and her staff continue to exceed my high expectations. I took the 101, 103, 104 and 114 (Catamaran) classes. The instructor captains for the classes have all been knowledgeable, considerate and informative while thoroughly preparing me for the test portions. Captain Brandon was amazing on the Catamaran ASA 114 class. I couldn't have learned more, been more impressed and had more fun. Just a real pleasure. I plan on continuing other classes through South Coast and joining Captain Lucy on her famous Flotillas in different parts of our beautiful oceans.

I think the only thing these people love more than sailing is sharing their knowledge and love of the sport. During 4 days with them last fall we met and worked with several of their instructors and found all of them to be highly experienced, knowledgeable, patient and most importantly fun to be with. Of course they have a great selection of well cared for boats and the best location on the bay to sail from. It's just a couple quick turns through the marina and you are out in the bay. A special shout-out to Dyna, from my very first email all the way through each and every moment of our stay (we stayed on board Morning Star) Dyna was right there, taking care of our every need. Heck she was often one step ahead of our needs. If you want to sail in Texas, give Dyan and South Coast Sailing a call, you won't be disappointed.

The boat is two stories, with dinner service from banquet dishes on the first floor. Reserved seats are upstairs while group seats are on the first floor. The food was good and was a chicken and steak option with sides. They served you both. Drinks were extra as were optional starters. Service was good but could have been more attentive given they were only bringing drinks and clearing the table. After dinner a DJ played music on an upstairs, open air deck before the fireworks started. Anyone in the area can obviously see the show so you don't need to be on the boat but why not. I'd say it's worth doing even if it's maybe a one time thing.

This was my second time chartering the Fantasea Yacht for a leisure cruise. My first experience was…read moreamazing and a breeze. Unfortunately, this second visit was the exact opposite. I purchased our tickets and food in advance so everything would be ready when we boarded, especially since the cruise is only one hour. We ordered the lemon pepper wings, which are always a good option on their menu I also recommend the charcuterie board. The wings were fried crispy, heavily seasoned, and definitely worth a try. We also ordered the shrimp and crab dip which was just okay. The shrimp had the texture and warmth of being microwaved for too long they were rubbery, flavorless, and disappointing. The bread served with the dip was very hard, difficult to eat, and made a huge mess. While on the cruise we ordered two cocktails that were very delicious. I just can't remember the names at the moment, but I'll update my review if I do. The yacht itself is beautiful, large, elegant, and spacious. From all the windows you're able to enjoy the incredible views and breathtaking scenery throughout the cruise which is definitely my favorite part. The reason I'm rating this experience three stars is because of the rude, dismissive, and aggressive attitude of the staff and supervisor when it came to receiving our prepaid food and redeeming our parking voucher through the Landry's Select Club program, which has been listed online for years. The supervisor treated us with the utmost disrespect and didn't give us an opportunity to explain nor have a conversation about the situation at hand. Instead, she repeated inaccurate information against what was posted online and acted as if we were asking her to pay for the parking voucher out of her own pocket. Including that what later made the experience even more uncomfortable was that she stood across from us at the bar and openly discussed us in a rude manner, which made the remainder of our cruise unpleasant. Would I charter this yacht again? Maybe. The yacht itself is beautiful, the views are unforgettable, and some of the food and drinks were great. However, the poor customer service left a lasting impression that makes me uncomfortable and unsure if we would return.
