I've been hesitant to write this, as I like supporting family-owned businesses, but I feel it's necessary to share my experience with Texas Family Chiropractic. After a car accident in 2022, I visited their office seeking treatment. In a lot of pain, I filled out a stack of paperwork, unknowingly signing a UCC filing, which gave them the right to place a lien on my assets until the case was settled and the bill paid by my lawyer. I was shocked to later discover that they had filed the UCC immediately, even though I only owed about $100. I didn't find out until my husband and I applied for a mortgage, and I was flagged because of this lien. Despite paying off the debt and never returning after realizing what had happened, this has been a burden on me since 2022. The UCC filing remains on my credit report until 2027, all for $100. I now have to carry around a letter proving the debt is paid, and this filing under my name is public and embarrassing. When I went back to discuss this with them, I was told they had done everything they could. While I understand the need to secure payment, this feels excessive, especially for such a small amount. I feel this could've been handled much better and it's disappointing to still be dealing with the fallout till 2027! read more

After 3 months of treatment and over 10K dollars of bills and over two and a half years to reflect on what went on when I was a patient here, I have come to the conclusion that this office is only concerned about one thing: separating you from your money. He didn't heal me. He saw me as many times as he could until my insurance ran out and then took his entire office on a cruise with the proceeds. I would be very careful when selecting a chiropractor in TX especially if it is because of an auto accident. It seems like they know every trick in the book to max out your insurance and take all the money and leave you wondering what happened and still in pain. I had been to at least 4 other chiropractors when I lived in different states. So it is not like I had never been to a chiropractor before. So even with my previous experience I made the very bad decision to go with this office. I guess when you are in pain and are really busted up is when certain types of people take the opportunity to take advantage of you most. Thankfully I don't live in the area anymore and am able to go to a reputable chiropractor where I live now. Be very careful. Your money and your life are in jeopardy when you walk through that door! Dr Derrick Houghton became my Chiropractor in 2000 at a time when I was in a 12 year battle with chronic pain managed by daily use of prescription morphine. At that time, I was in bad health, aided by the use of the medications, overweight, and dealing depression brought on by the stress of dealing with a chronic illness. Regular adjustments and deep tissue massage (done by Lacy Loucks in his office) greatly impacted my recovery and I am happy to say that I have now had four years free of pain or medication. I have found that Chiropractic care is essential in helping keep the body in a careful balance. Dr Houghton helped me once again in my rehab from knee surgery four years ago when I thought I would never participate in high impact sports again. I am now a runner and am in the best shape and health of my life. As a runner, I see Dr Houghton several times a month to ensure that I maintain the progress I have worked so hard for. Dr. Houghton cares about his patients. He also has good ideas for changes you can make in your everyday life for issues that could be a result of choices/habits, i.e. posture, nutrition, nutritional supplements, not listening to your body. As a busy professional as well as the long term effects of the medication, I have difficulty remembering my appointments and his office staff has helped me by sending a text or email reminder the morning of the appointment. I've been a patient here for about a month and I have to say how much better I feel! After years of lower back pain and recent hip pain from having my daughter I decided to see a chiropractor. Thank goodness for TFC. My back felt better after just a few visits and my hip is getting better and better. The staff is nothing but nice and professional. I have to bring my 10 month old with me and they never have a problem. One time my daughter got really upset and I asked Heather (front desk) to hold her. She didn't mind one bit!! I would be happy to recommend this facility to anyone! Oh and I had to borrow my X-rays one time because the Dr. Thought I had a kidney stone and wanted me to follow up with my regular Dr right away. No charge. Only a charge if I lost my films. (No brainer!) Oh. And I've slept in twice in a row missing appointments, there was no issue and I was able to reschedule no problem. I have been seeing Dr. Houghton on and off since 2007. The first time I saw him was for an emergency situation when I threw my back out. He and his staff immediately fit me in to the already busy day's schedule. Since I couldn't walk, he met us in the parking lot and helped carry me into the office! My husband sustained spinal injuries while serving oversea during his military career and is always in pain. He was able to keep it under control for over 10 years with chiropratic care, exercise, and medications. Cindy replied to my urgent request and they were able to fit my husband in their schedule. When we walked in, we were first greeted by Ms. Cindy at the front, very friendly and yet professional. She makes us feel welcome as an individual and not just another number. Right after first treatment he felt slightly relieved; we knew that we have found a great chiropractor. Dr. Houghton will keep checking as he is adjusting, it is not same treatment for everybody. He does a exam every 12 visits, just to make sure there is progress and if not, he will make changes accordingly. Dr Houghton has been my chiropractor since 2000. I was suffering multiple herniated discs in my neck from a rugby injury. After consulting with 2 spine specialists I was told that pain medication and surgery were my only options. I'm glad I sought out a forward looking progressive, yet traditional alternative in Texas Family Chiropractic. My injury had weakened my right side to the point that I could not hold a 5 pound dumb bell at arms length (not cool for being a 220lb rugby player). My right arm was frequently numb and 'clumsy'. Dr Houghton explained that my body with his help would heal itself - with subtle 'coaxing' my discs would begin to pull themselves back into place. He was right, within 3 weeks my strength was significantly restored, the numbness was gone. Within another 3 weeks all strength and motor function was restored and I was playing rugby again. On multiple other occasions he has resolved issues with my knees, ankles, shoulders, back and again helped with herniated discs. I consider Dr Houghton and his staff friends now!
