The place I had gone for the last 20 years closed down in 2024, so when my car started acting up I decided to try TGA. I had a great first experience. Even though I had no appointment, they saw me immediately, listened to my concerns, and promised me an estimate the same day. When the estimate arrived via email, it clearly listed each item, along with pictures showing the damage or needed repair. They also prioritized repairs that needed to be done immediately, and showed me items which might be needed in the coming months. The repairs were accomplished faster than I thought they would be. I received a call to pick up the car, and the checkout process was fast yet thorough. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Dropped off my BMW to Hans and the team at Texas German Autohaus this morning. One of the techs (maybe the best in Houston) Michael came with me for an extended test ride. In that time we listened for the noise my car had been making. He was with and stayed with me until he heard and felt the noise. He identified the issue and is making the needed repair today. Terrible Service. Brought two ML's on seperate occasions over this shop my time was wasted each time. Apparently Matt of Texas German AutoHaus doesn't know how to work a wrench or a phone, had to speak to that guy each time regarding my car, and he clearly didn't pay much attention in English class. This firm understands this. The staff took the time to explain the problem, answer questions and explain the resolution in human speak. Unlike other outfits that keep your car for days on end and give you the perception that they are 'working on your $2K problem', they don't do this. This review is based only on the estimate I received from T-G-A. I did not get my car repaired here because I believe they tried to overcharge me. Details: My BMW overheated so I had it towed to T-G-A. Being new to town, I chose the shop based on Yelp reviews. Matt, the service advisor I worked with, seemed very friendly and turned an estimate around to me in a matter of hours. However, the cost I was quoted was far higher than I feel is fair. Matt's $1,800 estimate included a new radiator (legitimate -- mine had cracked) as well as a new mounting bracket for the AC pump and new tensioner/pulleys and belts. I asked if they could work with me at all on the price and they did lower the labor rate to make the total $1,600. Even with the lower price, I had a gut feeling that it was too high so I had my car towed to another shop for a 2nd opinion. Their estimate was $750 (yes -- HALF the cost) and did not include a lot of the work that T-G-A told me I needed. They said my tensioners/pulleys and belts looked more than fine and that the AC pump bracket was something that could be easily repaired instead of replaced. read more

I want to like them, I do. They offered me a ride to and from work. They took my car over to the Texas inspection station for me (I'm brand spankin' new to the state). They even changed my appointment twice when I needed it. However, they tried to sell me rotors I didn't need; mine were still as smooth as glass upon visual inspection. I was sold a belt tensioner I also could have gone without. All in all, I went in for brake pads and walked out with an $800 bill. I get it, I'm a young female with a German car. I am fairly well versed in how to avoid unnecessary repair costs. After all, I dodged the rotors which would have tacked on an additional $450. A few other items were brought to my attention, but after I discussed the car's maintenance history, they agreed to reset some of the sensors. I'm annoyed more than angry. I give this auto shop 5 stars for customer service satisfaction & efficiency. I had my Porsche Cayman S taken here when the cable shifter broke (an apparently well-known issue in Caymans and Boxsters). They quickly ordered the new part from Porsche, had it installed and washed it squeaky clean. I was impressed by the warmth of the staff. My husband and I met the owner, Hans, who had personally looked over my car, and were very satisfied with the job. The clutch and the shifter both felt great, and they test-drove it to make sure it was running well, all in less than 48 hours. A week later, I had the same issue, where the shifter would not go into any of the odd-numbered gears or reverse. I quickly called them back, and Matt, the gentleman working on my vehicle both times, had their tow-truck guy out to my house the following morning to pick up my car. I called later that afternoon and it was ready to go, and again freshly washed. A clip had come loose on the shifter cable, and they fixed it for me at no-charge (tow & repair). Hans had personally over-looked the issue and repair the second time as well. Hans called both my husband and I less than a week later to check on the car to see how it was doing, and to tell us thank you for the business. Needless to say, we are very happy with Texas-German Autohaus, and will certainly be using them as our go-to for any Porsche issues. read more

If you have a German car that is out of warranty, bring it here. I have had nothing but good experiences here. They are always efficient, friendly, and provide good service. The prices are slightly expensive, but seem to be in range for repairs to German vehicles. I am consistently impressed by the service. Never before have I had an auto repair place bring an issue to my attention, but tell me to wait to repair it because it is not a safety issue. Just recently I was told that I needed to replace some hoses (not sure exactly which hoses or why), but that it was not urgent and they would keep an eye on the issue rather than telling me to spend $500 on it now. I was really surprised by this because most places would have told me to replace it right away. A few other benefits: TGA washes your car after it is serviced and normally gives you a bottle of wine around Christmas time. Also, they have a shuttle that will drop you off at your office or home. read more

I have had some awful experiences with auto shops and dealerships in particular. See my previous reviews of Russel and Smith Mazda and Xsell motors. Truly awful excuses for human beings work there. I have high standards and I see nothing wrong with that. When you work as hard as I do and you spend a big chunk of your income on a car why not be treated with respect and courtesy? I purchased a pre owned Porsche Cayman in April knowing it needed some work done on it. The previous owner had kept it as a weekend car so he was able to cut corners but I don't do things that way. A month later, I was driving my car just normally when suddenly a bright red light came on- CHECK ENGINE!! Greeeat! And then the next day in bright bold letters- BRAKE. I was very annoyed. I was hoping to wait until August but oh well. Headed over to TGA because after visiting the Porsche dealership they wanted to charge me more than $6000! Yes I am not making this up. Talked to someone who used to work there and he told me that dealerships are just so greedy and really do so much unnecessary work just to squeeze the customer out of a few dimes. I don't believe in that. I believe in the road going 2 ways; help the business and the business helps the customer. Is there something wrong with that? Anyway TGA took good care of me. Like I mentioned the previous owner did not do a good job of keeping the car in good shape. I believe in taking care, maybe even babying the car, hey it's a Porsche! This is how it is. Final bill after some discounts was $4100. Check out my pictures and how much work was done. I am hoping to avoid any more huge bills but it is a Porsche! TGA even after the discounts threw in a new bottle of wine, I guess to swallow down the giant bill. Classy! I like that. And they washed and waxed my car and wheels! Ask for Matt when you go there. He is all class and will explain and talk to you without it seeming like he is talking down to you which a lot of mechanics do. I sound like a TGA fanboy and yeah I guess I am. I have a 2011 Porsche 911. Took it in for an alignment cause it was off centered. Whenever i had the steering wheel straight it veered off to one side. Decided to take it to Texas-German Autohaus since it is nearby. Spoke to Matt Burrage service manager and he assured me they were a Porsche specialist. After paying almost $180 which is the almost the price of the dealership which i didn't mind because of the convenience. Picked up car and Matt said everything was great and car was not too far off as needing alignment. Turns out the car drove the same and i needed to take it to one of the Porsche dealers here in Houston, not naming which one cause I'm not sponsoring anybody just speaking the truth. Had to get another alignment and paid $200 and at least they got it right. I would not recommend these guys for repair of Porsche based on my car experience. read more

They specialize in Mercedes, a service specialist escorted me to his private office for a one on one consult, regarding maintenance for my Mercedes. I was once a dedicated customer of Texas-German Autohaus. I took my Mercedes in to get a check up for a clean bill of health prior to sale. I happen to stop in around lunch time and found it idling by itself outside the back of the shop with the AC on high. When I picked it up later that evening the engine barely started and it did not idle smoothly. When I tried to explain this to the service manager -Richard Hans Burger, he became very impatient, told me everything was working just fine and promptly escorted me to my car. At the buyers request I took in the vehicle in again a few days later. At noon I get a heated voicemail from the buyer who stopped by TGA at lunch. The buyer is telling me that TGA says the engine overheated, has warped heads and needs new engine mounts. Guess who he's talking to? Richard Hans Burger! I'm not sure what kind of sale tactic this is but it was my last visit to TGA. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!!! I have eight receipts that i would love to post as to why NOT to let Texas German Auto Haus "work", practice, on your car. After towing my 911SC several several times for the same problem, the car died on my once again. It would be fixed for about two drives. I would be able to maybe take it two places, then same problem. Richard, my sales guy was great and nice, but again, he's in sales! As i was sitting in his office, the owner came in and congratulated him on a great month. That's really all this place cares about. All they did was continue to charge me for parts and labor that the car did not need and NEVER EVER fixed the problem. In fact, TGA connected parts that should have not been connected to other parts!!!!! I could go on and on about what all they did WRONG!!!! Like a beginner 101 Mechanic, with no sense albeit, an ability to guess. As in, " maybe this connects to this" They do not know what they are doing. I continued to take the car because of the warranty. I even picked up the car and found the housing to the ignition BROKEN! Texas German Auto Haus charged me to fix it and another tow! They are WORTHLESS! If you have lots of money to burn and want someone that does not know what they are doing and you would like for them to "practice" on your car, go for it. If you want the job done right the first time, DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! After listening to many many folks, I finally took my car with ALL of Texas German Auto Haus receipts to the most honest, reliable, mechanic around. RENNSPORT, Mr. Mike Callas, yes in Sealy Texas, but for the amount of money and incompetent work done by Texas German Auto Haus, I could have had all my cars problems solved to begin with. If you own a PORSCHE, the only person to take your car to is Mr. Callas at Rennsport! Gosh i wish I would've listened to all my friends to begin with. They have a nice location and I used them a few times. First it was for a few minor repairs on my BMW. They were ok, even if more expensive than other places. Then my car broke last week, and that's when they tried to rip me off. The car didn't drive anymore, and they tell me I have to rebuild the entire transmission ($6,000). I sent the car to another garage, and it turns out the transmission was fine, only the shift selector had to be replaced ($1,000 with labor): that's a $5,000 difference!!!! So either their mechanics are not competent, or they deliberately tried to cheat on me. I won't be going back there. read more

Dealt with them over several years, very honest and reliable, and very teutonic, in the best possible sense. My mother has a bad habit of dropping change in the cigarette lighter in her BMW and shorting out the fuse, they always repair it gratis. They work very quickly and are very prompt in giving you a ride or picking you up. They will give you very clear answers to questions about repairs and are happy to advise which repairs are more important than others. If you have a Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche, I can't reccomend this place highly enough. read more
