Some of us opted to kayak, others did the canoe (which requires more effort since it's much heavier to maneuver around). The scenery was beautiful and the terrain wasn't as difficult as expected. The best part of the trip was kayaking amongst the many cows. We even pulled off to a small dirt island to rest, snack, sunbath and swim. (Watch out for floating cow poop!) When you return the the facilities, they have onsite showers to wash off the stank.

This is a large multi use park located just three blocks from US 290 (make a left at the cemetery…read moreon Dallas Street). It is quite large with both soccer and baseball fields. There is a paved walking trail that runs throughout the park. One of the fields has lighting for night games as well as bleachers. On one side of the park is a youth center and on the opposite side is a large play scape and pond. Plenty of benches and picnic tables along the trail including some grills. You'll find other amenities such as public bathrooms, a covered basketball court, volleyball court and a large covered picnic table area. Only older, retired people go to this park and several have unfriendly, aggressive dogs and have to take them to the smaller dog park when friendly dogs arrive. It's a shame this dog park is so poorly managed, unfriendly and dangerous - our community could use a nice dog park that is family-friendly and safe. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOG PARK! There are amazing dog parks for ALL close by. It's not worth the risk to take your friendly dog/family to this place. And, if something happens, they will not care.

We enjoyed the view of the lake, the quiet, and the 3 mile hike around the lake. The hosts were very accommodating and checked in on us to make sure our stay was going well and we were happy. Our family had a terrible experience! We reserved two nights in late August. Friday night two…read morefamilies with about 6 kids showed up at 930pm and stayed until 130am drinking, fishing, and carrying on about 50 feet from our campsite. We saw no Park Ranger come through that evening. The next afternoon at 4:30 several families totaling probably 30 adults and 20 kids showed up with a generator, deep freeze, mounted stereo system and several tents, and they overtook the rest of our campground area. The Park Manager told us all he could do was come through at 10 p. m. and enforce the music curfew. We had no recourse on the laughing, talking, and carrying on however. We decided to bail before 9 p.m.. Will never camp overnight there again.
