As a musician I have bought gear for years from pawn shops all over Texas. I will never do business or recommend anyone do business with the shady management at the leander location. A complaint with the BBB and the state will follow. I put a guitar on layaway with the required 20% down they told me and the paper work indicated I have 6 months to pay off the balance as long as I make a payment each month. When time for the payment came I came in to drop $10 on it because I was planing on picking it up before the next date and just needed to put something on it. Since the paper work nor the broker ever told me there was a minimum payment amount I assumed the $10 would be ok as long as I payed the full amount by the 6 months. The manager helped me and told me that the $10 wasn't enough for them to keep the item on layaway because they didn't charge for layaway, I asked ok so what's the minimum amount; he's said there is no minimum but $10 wasn't enough. This moron kept this loop up saying that just because the legal document doesn't say there's a minimum payment I should not assume there isn't (that's shady if that's how texas pawn works). He kept telling me other people charge for layaway. Who cares man Im your customer and you failed me. He got all smug when I ask if he was the manager with the skills to chase business away like that he needs to be demoted. No customer service skills, shady business practices, and just plan dumb. I demanded my deposit back and will go spend my money elsewhere. read more

Title: "They Tried to Lowball Me, and It Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened" Went in to offload a camera I barely use--a solid, high-quality piece of gear collecting dust. These folks gave me the sob story of the century: "Cameras just don't sell anymore," they said, as if I'd wandered into a VCR shop. They claimed the last one sold on eBay for $400, didn't bother checking the condition, and offered me... wait for it... $120. Apparently, their pricing strategy is based on vibes, not reality. I was ready to part ways for $400, thinking they could still flip it for $600 and keep the lights on. But nope, they were stuck on their garage sale logic. So I took my $120 insult, smiled, and walked out. Enter MPB. Within a week, I had cold, hard cash ($594)--the amount you see in the picture. And suddenly, it all made sense: places like this are going out of business because they'd rather waste my time than make a fair deal. So, to sum it up: Thank you for the ridiculous offer. Without it, I wouldn't have discovered MPB and my new favorite place to sell gear. Stay humble, folks. Or don't. Either way, I'm good. read more

Texas Pawn and Jewelry receive the majority of my firearms transfer business and I have also purchased multiple new and used firearms there. I've also bought magazines from.their bargain bin, a BB gun for our grandson, a new shotgun for another grandson, a few vintage fishing poles, as well as a Byrna self defense pepper ball gun. Their price was the lowest around. John, Brad and the others at the store know their inventory well, always have a good amount of and their hours of operation are highly convenient. I highly recommend others buy sell or trade new and used firearms with Texas Pawn and Jewelry. Their prices are fair, some even a little negotiable, my number one and number two reason for going there are the convenience and friendly service. I've been all over Austin, and Wilco looking for a very specific type of air compressor. I visited the Hutto location, and found better quality items, and the staff there was very helpful. I purposely drove out of my way to the Leander Lowe's to stop by this pawn shop. They had a much better selection of compressors, and tools. The quality was higher than most, if not all pawn shops. The staff, Aiden, Brad, and I believe his name was Jonathan (may be Joseph I am horrible remembering names), were all very respectful, and helpful. They cut me a very good deal, they also threw in an additional broken hose for free, I am going to use the fittings off it. To be clear the hose I got with the compressor was perfect, 300psi looked brand new, just had no quick connection fittings. I'd highly recommend these guys, drive out of your way you won't be disappointed. read more

Jonathan and Staff at Texas Pawn in Leander are truly helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I could not find the gun that I needed especially not during the China Virus and social unrest. They had new guns in stock. They also helped us find the right gun and offered different options. Everyone in the store had masks on, sanitizer is available for free customer use, and the entire place was very clean and in order. They also have multiple stores which allows them to source extra inventory. I know this review sounds overboard. I don't work at the store or have any relationship with them outside of this encounter. I had been doing a massive amount of legwork trying to find what we wanted, and then we just walked into Texas Pawn and there it was. They actually had multiple models. The owners of this pawn shop are amazing people. The employees make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the sliding doors. I have been to several pawn shops throughout my life and this one by far exceeds the others. They work with you on so many levels, from establishing an instant friendship to selling above average items. The jewelry is inspected, verified, and sold at very reasonable prices compared to jewelry stores. The used guns that are sold are in fantastic condition; they also sell new guns for a reasonable rate. Among all the merchandise that is sold, they will also work with you on getting that loan or putting items on layaway, so even if you do not have enough to pay for that special item, you can come back for it and it will still be there. read more

I rarely step into pawn shops these days. The pawn business seems like a dying industry in 2022 with the majority of people selling there items online nowadays, usually how i purchase my items,but this individual pawn location slowly changed my perception the hour or so i was in this establishment. First off let me start off with there exceptional ring verity they have. Also thinking about it i would never purchase a ring through a online seller. Jonathan took his time explaining clarity and cuts of diamonds and the difference. Never once did he make me feel like i was wasting his time, something i appreciate. Had an amazing experience today at Texas Pawn dealing with Johnathan... I feel like 5 star and pawn shops are not synonymous, but from the moment I walked in he made my sister and I feel welcome. Typically if coming to a Pawn shop I am having life kicking my butt, for the first time ever, I literally left there smiling and not in tears... Anyways hats off to the whole team for CARING! It is by far the one thing that seems to no longer exist in any retail environment. What can I say, this place is amazing. This is not a typical pawn shop, it is far from it! I went in and was greeted right away. The staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their inventory. Bert and Jonathan helped me pick out a firearm that was right for me. I have been to other gun shops and felt like the salesmen were just trying to sale me something I didn't want. The store is clean and organized, which in my opinion is quite a feat in itself these days. The staff is courteous, extremely welcoming, and knowledgeable Its hard enough when you find yourself in need their services but to have to ask for help brings a whole new level of suck into the scenario.
