This is a store full of mouth breathing idiots. I have a beautiful $800 guitar that I keep in case of emergencies when I need cash. Usually I can easily get $200. Most pawn stores or any reseller would offer you ~30% market value for the item. They offered me $100. This was after the bimbo told me "It's more than what I was originally going to give you - $80". Mind you this information is coming from the same degenerate who locked the key to the safe they just bought... in the safe w/o a code so truly - go anywhere else, there's plenty of pawn shops in the area. I have purchased here several times in the past. I went in to purchase a replacement wedding ring after I lost mine. Sam was horrible! He was very condescending and needed therapy (in my opinion). WTF! My 1st time ever experiencing racism in there. I love the yearly sales and Debra is always nice. The beauty of it is that you will see the same stuff there for going on 2 years now because they won't negotiate ever. Highly recommend passing this shop. Been shopping here for over ten years and Debra is a good manager you just have to get to know her she's not being ugly that's just her personality and personally I don't like over bubbly people! They throw Christmas parties every year, I've won diamond earings! and she has even helped me get my things back I lost because my mom was in the hospital and and she did it affordably! So I didnt have a yelp til now but I know ppl really go here so I figured I would put it here. I walk in to this Cash America and see a "Kristin" working. I show her my old ipad and she then treats me like I stole it. Asking me the name on it and silly questions. I told her it was my mom and told me she would have to come sell it. I had never been tokd nothing so stupid in my life. First off who would steal a 1st gen ipad worth maybe 75 bucks?? And if I was dumb enough to steal it why would I go somewhere where they would need my ID? Regardless the way she looked at me because I was black was enough to tell she was stereotyping me FOR NO REASON! Looking at me crazy as if I would steal old electronics smh! It was just wrong on so many levels. I advised her I had already done business in there several times so she didnt have to profile me. She looked at me crazy again and denied it. I took a pair of Boots & a Purse here a while ago and got a fair price from Debra for both. I went today with 2 items and again took a pair of Suede boots, and although slightly worn, still with the tag on them. The guy low balled me so badly that I asked for Debra again thinking she knows better and would again at least be fair. As she was coming out of her office they were whispering together and it was painfully obvious when she got to me she already had her mind made up. Mind you they have jackets and clothing still there from when I went months ago when she accepted my Boots for the fair price but she tells me they're not the place for my Boots and asks the guy what he offered then just repeats what he said to me, "yeah, $20 is all we can do". She gave a half hearted hurried look at my Boots. What's the point if even asking for the Manager if all she's going to do is Parrot what the other person says? Once a month I do a pawn crawl looking for undervalued guitars, guns, and tools. I have a route that takes me from Leander to Central Austin in half a day. If I hit all the shops on my list I will have visited 14 shops. I will say I like this shop the most. Granted it is not huge and sometimes the inventory is limited, the women are very nice and "fairly" negotiable. I didn't give it five stars because based on its size, there really isn't a place the Pawners can speak/haggle with the associates. I find this to be in conflict with exactly what I am doing - trying to get the best deal on an item. Granted most pawn shops don't have a separate area for people hawkin' their stuff. Short report / I like it, I get the best deals there and people are nice. I would like it to sell semi-automatic rifles like the two pawn shops that this location sits between, but hey ... I don't pawn stuff so I can't speak to the level and fairness of pawns and loans. read more

First-time shopper and last time-shopper and here's why. The majority of the staff I've dealt with are nice and helpful. There's some on the staff that are like "eh, it's a job...not going to put much effort into it" or "well, get what you need and get out." I recently sold an item to them in what I thought I was selling actually turned out to be a pawn (loan). I questioned the pawnbroker and she said "it's the same thing as a sell, just don't pay it." Uh come again? What obligation do I now I have? So I called and spoke to Debra (manager) and her response was classic "Shred your pawn agreement and don't pay it and considered it sold to us." Uh well duh except are you going to come after me for failing to pay off a loan? Doesn't make sense. I'm not asking you to void it, I'm simply stating that I don't want to have to pay twice a layaway and a pawn just to get my item out. I never asked for a pawn in the first place. Oh and the APR is 240% so on a $40 pawn the service charge is $8 so $48.00 but tack on that 240% and it turns into $163.20. We'll see what happens April 2018 when that "payment" comes and I don't pay it. Just a mix bag of nuts all around. read more

I don't often go to pawn shops, but when I do, this particular Cash America is one of the 2 or 3 I stop at, which is usually for video games and movies. The selection is pretty good and every single time I've gone in there over the last few years, they've always treating me nicely whether I bought something or not, they're pretty engaging, and I love the banter between the employees and other customers making it a place where you feel extremely welcome to shop, which is something that can be kind of hard to find in many establishments. When my manager's PS3 fried last week, this was where I told her to go to look for a replacement- I don't usually recommend a place unless I feel that it's somewhere that I'd be comfortable going anytime! Outstanding pawn shop. Always friendly. Every person that works there is super nice. The manager is a lady named Debra. She is very knowledgeable on everything they have. She will negotiate some. But she holds her ground. It's a pawn shop! That's her job. On the other hand. She wants your business and does a good job of getting it and keeping you pleased during the entire process of either buyer, selling, or pawning. The store manager Debra is everything you would not want a store manager to be. I was about to purchase a laptop and the gentleman showed me a good deal and I was about to purchase. Debra interjected her anti customer skills so badly I just had to walk out. I have heard stories of her not being freindly to African Americans but I didn't believe it until now. I put on a call to the regional manager to discuss why was said so hopefully they will resolve the issue. But this is 2017 and I would expect better. read more
