Stay away. This place does not want to help you in your recovery. I had the unfortunate experience of being sent to this location via my doctor. The first time I was matched with a woman who kept pressing me to tell her my mental health issues even when I said I was not comfortable she then told me she would find out through my medical records. I told my doctor I didn't want to go back but was referred there again. Then I was matched with a male who actually tried making fun of me for being injured (and at a young age) and then tried making sexual comments towards me. He said this isn't my business but are you able to perform sexually when you're experiencing the pain.... Absolutely ridiculous. And then he assured me the treatment would approved by my insurance but it was denied due to a lack of information submitted by him. And he wasn't taking me serious the entire time kept telling me to just stop wearing certain shoes. Even when I tried explaining how serious my injury was. And no one ever called me to explain why I was denied treatment I had to call myself and they told me I'd be getting a call back with more details and never did. This place is awful and the people who work here have serious issues. read more

TexPTS Austin - Northeast (Parmer) I thought that I knew my body pretty well. I found out that was not the case. I had not realized how muscles at times do not play well together. I had the pleasure of being Dr. Jason's patient. Dr. Jason is honest and upfront. He is great at sharing his realism with you for your benefit. I have learned ways to improve my condition and recover by following Dr. Jason's and the Techs recommended exercises. The clinic sold me the tools to manage pain flare ups on my own. I was so amazed by my early progress. Dr. Jason is an amazing physical therapist who also has high expectations for his patients. I highly recommend him. I had a terrible experience at TexPTS. After my initial assessment by the physical therapist, I was told that my insurance had approved eight PT sessions. As this was the only communication I received around insurance and billing, and the staff at the front desk never collected payment from me when I arrived or left sessions, I assumed my insurance was covering the treatment. After my fifth session, however, the woman at the front desk told me that my insurance wasn't covering any of my sessions and that I now owed a bill of over $1000. She was very embarrassed and told me that someone at TexPTS should have verbally explained my benefits to me before I started the treatment plan with my physical therapist, but that no one had. She then mentioned that in my initial intake paperwork, I had signed a form acknowledging the details of my insurance and what it covered. When I checked back over this paperwork, which I didn't remember signing, I saw that there was an insurance form in the intake paperwork, but the language in it was not specific. For example, it didn't tell me the estimated cost of each PT session, or what the total cost of my proposed treatment plan was. I'm mystified why these details were not discussed with me before I began treatment, and why no one talked to me about costs until after my fifth session. If I had been charged for treatment after my first session, I would've very quickly understood the high cost of sessions and made a different decision about how many sessions to book. I've been in communication with both Kelsey Birk, the director of the Central Bailey location, and Jamie Reese, the regional director, about my concerns, but neither of them has answered my questions about why treatment costs were not verbally communicated to me before starting treatment or why I was only given clear information about billing/costs after my fifth session. I would not recommend coming here if you want clarity and transparency around billing and insurance. As far as the clinical staff goes, they are very kind and friendly. However, you get very little face-time with your PT. Most of my time was spent doing PT exercises solo or communicating minimally with a tech. During my treatment here, my issue with my hip was not improving, but my PT didn't seem very concerned about my lack of progress. After leaving TexPTS because of the high costs of sessions, I continued doing the PT exercises they'd prescribed, but my hip pain continued. I have since seen a different physical therapist--Dr. Bockmann at Austin Spine and Sport--who clearly diagnosed my issue and gave me effective exercises to address my hip pain in just one session. He spent the full 60 minutes of the appointment investigating the source of my pain, doing some targeted massage, and overseeing the exercises that would help alleviate my symptoms. It's been a relief to finally get effective treatment after my very frustrating experience at TexPTS. read more

I just completed 3 months of PT with Dr. Steel at their Far West location. When I started, I was experiencing serious pain from a shoulder injury, including restricted movement of my arm. When I finished, the pain was gone and movement restored. In addition, everyone was friendly, patient, and they listened. At first my doctor (not PTS) didn't think I had a complete tear of a shoulder tendon. However, my condition worsened and I finally relented to having a MRI performed. My doctor called me with the results and said "you are pretty banged up". I had one complete tear, two others frayed, and a messed up bicep tendon. Shelagh and Kennedy at the Dripping Springs location guided me through on what to expect post my surgery that happened June 2022. PT started September 2022 and recently I was discharged from PTS with 95%+ of my original range of motion back on my effected shoulder\arm. I don't know about other Texas Physical Therapy Specialists locations, but I can assure you that the Parmer Lane location is one of THE WORST physical therapy centers I have ever attended. Unfortunately, I have been in Physical Therapy at least every other year for the last 25+ years due to a severe auto accident resulting in multiple back surgeries (fusions), post op infection of spinal surgery, chronic pain, spinal/disc degeneration, spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal radiculopathy, knee surgeries, neck surgeries, cervical spondylosis, radiculopathy, paralysis, balance and gait issues and so on. If you are one who has suffered with musculoskeletal issues for long periods you'll understand that in addition to the injuries irregular wear and tear, skeletal imbalances, ossification of ligaments and more can cause as much pain and immobility as the original injury itself over time. That's why I have spent so much time in Physical Therapy and have become extremely knowledgeable about PT as a matter of need. In all my life I have NEVER seen such a lazy, uncaring, ill prepared, arrogant, poorly educated physical therapist as (laughable) Dr. Jason Brown. Not only would he not listen to me when I tried to give him information about MY BODY that he would need in order to treat me, he told me not to come in if I wasn't feeling well enough to do the (narrow) treatment plan he wanted to do while he ignored other issues that caused me so much pain it would bring tears to my eyes just trying to move even though I made sure that my Neurosurgeon wrote the order to include those other issues as well as any other problem that arose. I have NEVER had a Physical Therapist tell me not to even bother coming in if I was in so much pain I couldn't perform their treatment plan. What I did experience is Physical Therapists who would scrap their plans for the appointment and deal with the most pressing issues that were preventing me from moving or that were causing so much pain that I couldn't even focus. Moreover, Jason Brown would only spend 20-30 minutes max (usually 20) in one-on-one treatment even though the website stated an hour of one-on-one time with the Therapist. He also refused to perform therapy that the website clearly stated they performed and that has been the best type of therapy for me over the last 10 years. This is where my experience and knowledge of physical therapy, my past treatment successes, my medical/surgical history and knowledge of my own body was completely dismissed by an arrogant therapist who had not been practicing physical therapy for half as long as I had been going to physical therapy. After 20 mins, "Dr." Jason Brown would go sit on his behind and start entering notes on his computer while he passed me off onto a PTA who did not have the experience or skill to treat me and was not being supervised as is required. The PTA would sheepishly admit he wasn't sure what to do and that I was beyond his skill. It wasn't his fault, I should not have been shoved off onto him, but Jason was too lazy to do his job. I even had to help other patients around me that were not getting proper instruction for simple exercises such as rows. He couldn't be bothered to take 2 minutes to show this poor lady how to properly do a row so she didn't hurt herself (she was flailing her arms all over) or get the benefit needed from doing the exercise properly. Jason didn't have a problem until other people started to notice that I was the one who was helping her and not him at which point he came over and told me not to give instructions to HIS patients. I told him I wouldn't have to if he did his job and that I know the exact form to do rows and if I didn't give proper instruction let me know. Of course he had nothing to say to that. The bottom line, stay FAR AWAY from this Texas Physical Therapy Specialist location and even FURTHER AWAY from (snicker) "Dr." Jason Brown who apparently was more interested in title chasing than education gaining or interested in listening and treating patients. He wants you to trust him, but forgets that trust is earned by being a decent human being, not too lazy to actually treat the patient, not telling them to stay home if they don't feel well enough to do his narrow treatment plan (then try to tell your Doc that you were a now show after I fired him), be humble enough to listen to patients especially when one comes along with a lot of PT experience/knowledge, and by showing that he gives a shit and treating other issues when a patient is in obvious distress. From what I have read, not one good review has been given since he took over this place as clinic manager. Save yourself the headache and pass on by. Each of my Doctors have removed this place from their recommended PT list. All were extremely disappointed to say the least and just sorry that I had to go through such a bad experience with an under-qualified physical therapist who never even tried to give his best effort read more

I was evaluated at the Parmer Ln location by the director, Jason Brown, and then i had a follow-up session a few days later. I will not go back. I came in after lifting something heavy which injured my back. I received no words of understanding or compassion and was in severe pain. Jason concluded during the eval that there was "no nerve involvement". He gave me some movements to do and then left to go sit and work on his laptop in a corner about 20 feet away. There was no tech assigned to me and so no workers nearby. I was in a lot of pain doing some of what he had me do, so I called out to him but he could not hear me. Also after getting up from the table, i was limping because of the pain caused by the exercise that he assigned did not supervise. I did not walk in to his clinic limping. I walked out in much worse pain than i came in, and he ignored that I had trouble walking out. A few days after seeing Jason for the 2nd and last time, I had an appnt with an orthopedic doctor and got an MRI. I had an L5/S1 herniated disk with the herniation sitting on my nerve root. I had microdisectomy surgery a little later and all the horrible, excruciating radiating pain that I saw Jason for was gone and was immediately gone. Remember that Jason's evaluation produced "no nerve involvement" results. So zero points for lack of expertise, lack of concern or care, lack of compassion, and Negative points for giving me an incorrect diagnosis. And Negative points for putting me in more pain than when I came in. In previous years I had okay results with PT's at the Balcones Woods location of TPTST. read more

Poor business practice. I was told my co-pay would be a certain amount. But I received a large bill. The billing department said it was for co-insurance and deductible. Actually, they replaced the provider with someone who was not contracted with ERS yet. They billed different amounts even though the treatment was exactly the same each time. During therapy sessions, I saw the PT, who was very good, about 15 minutes. The rest of the time was individual exercise (expected at such clinics). Instead of assisting, the PT assistants stayed in a group in the middle of the room and horseplayed with each other while older clients struggled with exercises. read more

Every single one of them, from the therapists to the receptionist will greet you by name, ask you how you are doing and remember your conversation from months previous. Why? because they listen and really want your well being. The customer service @ TPTS is at the highest standards. I can pull into the parking lot, all cranky and down because I have pain and I will leave with a smile on my face because the team there is so upbeat and caring. After having ACL reconstruction surgery, my doctor referred me to the folks at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists because of their close proximity to my home. I've never gone to PT before and was a little apprehensive about what all it would entail. The moment I walked (or hobbled, really) in the door, the staff at the front desk made me feel welcomed and at ease. After just a few sessions with Dr. Brown, I was already able to walk like a normal person without limping again. After a few months, I feel like I can do pretty much anything I could do before and more! I think my legs/hips/knees are actually stronger now than before my injury. Dr. Brown took the time to listen to my concerns, explained everything that we were doing and why, and worked patiently with me to get me to my goals. I hurt my ankle playing basketball but didn't want to admit that fact that I was hurt. I kept thinking my shoes didn't fit but finally the swelling in my ankle forced me to reconsider. Dr. Silva at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists was able to quickly assess my injury and recommend treatment. She showed me how I had favored the injury by twisting my foot which compounded the injury. She was patient with me and very attentive during all my office visits. When I was told that I needed to have physical therapy, I check with my insurance to see what providers are in my area. Once I picked a provider, Texas Physical Therapy, I waited for them to confirm my insurance was accepted and what my co-pay would be for each visit as I assumed, I would be having multiple visits. My first visit with this organization was with its 'Cedar Park, TX' location. After, my first visit, I realized they had a 'Leader, TX' location and had my records transferred to a Dr. Menke in Leander. I postponed my second visit as I was told I would need to do another assessment with the Dr. Menke and had just done one the prior week with a doctor at the Cedar Park location. I was concerned my insurance would not cover a second evaluation. After waiting a couple of days, I was told that Dr. Menke would do a small assessment at that time the physical therapy was done and that there would not be an increase in the visit cost. I was also told that they have confirmed my co-payment. Please note, I have now been told twice what my co-payment would be from two different offices. I saw Dr. Menke from 6/22/21 to 7/26/21. My assessment of him is that he either has to many patients, or really did not care which way my care went. I rarely saw him. When I did whatever exercise I was told to do, it varied from one day to the next what was the right way to do it. The technician telling me what to do seemed unsure if was both legs, one leg, more time, or number of counts. I just got tired of the confusion and just did what I thought they wanted. They are some really nice people there who I truly believe mean well, but the disorganization of the office is just mind boggling. When I told a technician, I assume that is who they are, that I was not feeling as if this was really working as nothing seemed to get any better, they told me that would reach out to Dr. Menke, hence I barely saw him. When I did see him, I had assumed he would change my regimen or recommend something different as the technician had alluded to this. To my surprise, he might well have patted me on the ass and showed me the door. Thank you for your money and time and have a nice day. Of course, he did this very politely. Let's just say he is not on my top ten let alone hundred to recommend, unless you want someone who makes you feel totally ignored. Unfortunately, that is not where this nightmare ends. Remember, I told you in the beginning I did everything I could to ensure I knew my cost going into this treatment. Well, I got a bill from them for an additional $103.01. I called the business office and asked them why I got a bill, and of course it was for my co-pay. It appears they did not properly ensure that they collect nor told me my proper co-pay. I told them I would need a copy of the original bill with CPT codes and the breakdown of what my insurance paid and what I am responsible for. Billing person kept on telling me that they only give estimates. It would have been nice if the people I spoke to told me that. When I got the e-mail from the billing person, they also informed me that I signed a document stating that they where only giving me an estimate. Now we all know when we go to the doctor's office, we all must sign a multitude of documents. I think the average person would assume that if they are told that they have to pay a certain amount for their copy and was told by two different offices the amount was correct and verified, why would that patient assume it is an estimate. The patient would have assumed someone did their job. They co-pay is an annoyance to be honest. It is the horrible service from the treatment to finalizing the final payment that got me upset. No one apologizes for it, they just want to say, I TOLD YOU SO, in a document buried upon documents. I would not recommend this organization, starting with the doctor who does not seem to care, to the business office that is all about collecting your money rather than fixing the upstream issue, misinformation! Or maybe just not apologizing for the horrible experience. read more

I've been going to Texas Physical Therapy associates for about a month after struggling for months with St. David's outpatient physical therapy kept mishandling my insurance and I had lost movement after waiting so long after my open fixation surgery on my Humeral Head break. Grant Bower PT, DPT is an amazing person to work with. He is not only really smart but he also is greatly empathetic and kind. All of the staff are sweet and I like that it's a smaller facility. Never have problems with parking and everyone who works there are always genuine, caring and smiling. Never pushing too hard, very encouraging and also Dr. Bower pulled me aside when he saw I was crying, asked me if I wanted to go in another room, if I needed water and reassured me that it's very normal and that things will be okay. I'm really looking forward to completing PT and I would recommend them to anyone. This is not a factory, these are healers who love what they do. read more

Little did I know that, I had made the best choice possible. From the beginning, they made the initial process of scheduling and insurance paperwork easy to navigate. I then met with Dr. Grant Bower for an assessment and felt very comfortable with him. I remember him asking me to think of a goal of something I wanted to be able to do by the end of therapy. I simply wanted to walk without limping, he challenged me to think bigger. I then had a vision of being able to play golf again with my husband, which was something I had not allowed myself to think about in many years. He put together a plan that was just right for me and also gave me exercises I could work on at home. I began to make progress and could visualize the day that I would be able to golf again. Dr. Bower made tweaks along the way with my therapy plan and made sure that I continued to challenge myself to regain my strength and endurance. I Broke my leg and had surgery to repair it. I initially looked at pictures of staff and chose this Leander location because they looked friendly! They are very friendly! And professional,knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind,encouraging and just plain helpful. The location also is convenient for me. It is CLEAN and easy to be comfortable in, while doing PT. The staff helps each other and works well with each other. As I heal my treatment continues to make me better and stronger, even as it changes to accommodate my next step. Grant seemed to take a personal interest in the progression of my recovery, pushing me to do better at every session. I have had horrible experiences with Physical Therapist's. Yet everyone in this location is friendly, welcoming, and willing to do what it takes to get me back to my old self. The team is very flexible with their times and attentive to my care plan. Because I faint quite a bit sometimes my pain and complications and if my husband calls to reschedule I always get a call from Brad to check on me and to encourage me to not give up. I am giving this place 3 stars. While the people who work here are nice I think the therapists tend to exaggerate and milk the therapy they have you do. I went here three years ago for recovery from my ACL and Meniscus reconstruction surgery. They wanted me to work out the leg that was unaffected. Why? that leg had no damage to it!. This place is not a bad place to go to, I would recommend it of course but just be warned they do milk and exaggerate the routines, so if they ask you to work something out that is unaffected just don't do it. read more

I have had on and off again back pain for the last nine years. This was the first time, I have gone through PT, where the PT actually works with the patient. I am so use to PT's in the past just hooking me up to a tens unit and that be my therpy. Mr. Brown was very helpful and attentive.. My orthopedic surgeon recommended my seeing a physical therapist after diagnosing bursitis on my hip. I had about 4 cortisone shots, all of which wore off. Texas Physical Therapy Specialists are the best physical therapy crew in Austin! After a severe neck injury, I bounced between several physical therapy spots until I found these guys. I was surprised at the lack of competence at other places, and impressed at how dialed-in TPTS is at their business. Like every good business it starts with good communication, good leaders, and strong crew members. Dr. Fontenot worked with me, and is exceptional at his job in all facets. He communicates well with his crew so everyone is on the same page at every appointment. His bedside manner is phenomenal, he genuinely cares about patients, and I watched him treat everyone like a friend. He's able to seamlessly transition from telling you detailed information about your condition in a way you can understand, to shooting the breeze about literally anything. Elise, Joshua, and Dillon worked me through the exercises and stretches at a top-notch level. They are good people who make sure you're using great form and getting the most out of every session. I graduated from their program, and recently got second place in a mountain bike race! I couldn't be happier with the results I achieved because of TPTS.
