Went to a friend's wedding here. The outdoor ceremony space and barn for the reception were beautiful!

The unmatched natural beauty of Spring Lake was the perfect back drop to our ceremony on the water's edge at Sycamore Point. We rented the pretty white chairs for seating down there. One thing I would note about that site is that the walk from our ceremony to the dinner was a bit long for our elderly guests. We decided to hire a pedi-cab for a couple hours to shuttle folks around the park before and after the ceremony. I highly recommend this, or a golf cart, if you plan your ceremony for Sycamore Point. We rented out the glass-bottom boats for our guests, which made for a truly unique and memorable cocktail hour before dinner on the rooftop of the historic hotel (now the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment). They even let us use their tables and 50 chairs! (We did have to rent some extras for our large group). The staff was great and there was ample parking for our guests. As Bobcat Alumni, river-rats, and stewards of the planet, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled to have shared this natural treasure with all the people we love. Thank you Spring Lake for such a perfect experience!

A trip to San Antonio, a stay in San Marcos, an Embassy suite... honestly; I expected more. First…read moreimpression was nice and put together. Opened the couch bed to an unopened pack of airhead extreme strips (yum, didn't eat though) As well as what looked to be a lid to takeout with sauce on the cap. Not very pleasant... Showing they most likely didn't look in the pull out or just missed it entirely. Couch bed didn't look very clean nor comfy but got the job done at least. Bathroom was pretty nice, no waking up the family with a shower, extremely quiet water and soft water pressure. Our room had two queen beds. Clean sheets, spacious. Kitchen comes with mini fridge, mini sink, microwave, coffee machine, and under cabinet. The hotel in general was inviting with warm lighting, a bar, breakfast, food service, enough seating to fit my whole family tree down to my ancestors from the 13th century. Service was okay, front ladies are great! Only thing was when you dial the front desk, you start with a automated voice. I requested a cot for my brother, to which it said ok and that it will be brought to my door, 30 minutes.. nothing. So we recalled and ask to be transferred to a human at the desk to which they informed us they do not carry cots. All good. Not so heated pool btw. We appreciate they work they do though. Thank you Embassy!

Not much super close by in terms of local options. The hotel was undergoing renovations rendering some areas inaccessible including the pool. However from my understanding that was to be completed by today and the renovations should be done by the end of the month. We were just lucky to get the tail end of the construction. The construction was not too bad, but in the common areas it was loud. The hotel itself is huge. I was not expecting that. The rooms were spacious and accommodating. In terms of the conference, the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The room (s) I stayed in were newly renovated. On night one, a loud clackity clacking noise from a panel near the closet was notable. I assumed it was the AC. The noise was not constant so I figured I would manage to sleep through it. That was not the case. In the morning, I sent a message to the front desk and it sounded like they worked on the issue during the day. When I got back that afternoon, the noise was not detectable until I started to doze off. At which point I asked for a new room. Chelsea was so nice and accommodating. She managed to find me a new room and hooked me up with snacks... Clearly, I'm easy! Didn't have any problems for the rest of the week. The renovations are nice and bright. I was happy to see that they didn't have that same 90s carpet! Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and the conference areas were lovely.

Down to visit Texas State with my older daughter we decided we'd get there a day ahead of time and…read morespend the night rather than try to make the 5 hours or so drive in the morning. She likes things that are different most of the time so I thought I'd try a bed and breakfast with her and was able to find the Crystal River Inn, listed as a 3 star hotel on the travel sites. Seemed to be a discount and I found out why later, but everything worked out fine. This place is just a few blocks away from Texas State so location-wise for us was perfect for our tour the next day. Very easy to find and it's also just off the downtown square so right in the thick of things and allowed us to "check" out the area pretty easy. The reason for the discount is that one part of the hotel is being renovated and so only about half the rooms are available. We stayed in the portion they call the Thomas House. Now we got there on a Sunday evening and so no work being done. There is some bustling noise on the street which mostly goes away by sundown. Also some foot traffic as there seems to be students walking back and forth for various retail spots. Very cozy and quaint rooms however with their own bathroom. One of those small town places where you just pick up your key on the table amongst the other keys for expected guests. Open parking in the back and easy in and out. Supposedly there is a ghost there that likes to mess with the temperature but the thermostat was blocked off and it was quite nice throughout the night. Though my daughter is into that we saw no ghosts that either pushed us down the stairs or helped us up them according to legend...LOL... Has a coffee station for the morning which is help yourself. You can hear other people moving around in the other rooms but nothing too terrible at least on this night. We did not need anything but there was a contact number and the innkeeper apparently was on call if necessary. I think a cozy place. Decor was very nostalgic and man the bath water was nice and hot and plentiful! I don't know that I would call it a romantic getaway place as the surroundings aren't idyllic; but it was a great alternative to the regular motels/hotels for not much more. The bed and pillows were worth the extra 20 bucks....LOL.... I think we got the night for $120 and after all those taxes it was about $144. Don't mind staying there if we are out that way again.

This pace is a danger to the disabled, elderly and basically anyone. The backyard is a hazard for tripping because it is so uneven and even has dips. The transition from the front desk to the hallway is loose and it is several inches wide, a huge hazard. The railing on the extremely steep stairs is too wide for someone who is disabled and can't grip it properly. The entrance in the back has broken and uneven bricks, again a huge hazard. She had the nerve to say to me that they looked at the cameras and I was walking perfectly fine which is so untrue, it's shocking. I had to take my shoes off and scan the floor to be able to walk. I reported to my dr and he took a full report. So I did report the incident and she has been caught in a very serious lie.
