My husband and I went here for our first tubing experience. It was great! I only wish the float was longer. All the staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was super chill. I don't have any other experiences to compare it to, but we liked how much closer to Austin this was as opposed to driving to New Braunfels and the Groupon we used was a great deal. Had a really fun time with Colt on the river! We did the pick up and drop off option which was very convenient from downtown Austin. They stop along the way to get ice and/or beers to fill up the ice chest they provide! The only weird part was the girls at registration down at the river we're being rude about five our bus tubes for our coolers. They said the whole bus only gets three and of course there were about 40 people on the bus so we needed more than that! But Colt figured it out, just wish those girls weren't so rude!! Horrible experience from the beginning to the end. My family and I went to Texas State Tubes expecting to have a fun time with the kids (ages 2-6). I have to admit it was nice at first even though no one guided us or told us where to go. There were several rapids, a few of them were okay and fun to go through but the last one was horrid!!! The 2 youngest children fell out of their tubes and traumatized them from ever doing anything like this ever again. Even I will never go here or do anything like this ever again. I also got pushed to the side and got stuck in the last rapid and was too scared to pull myself out of it. It seems like this place has employers that are not very reliable. The gentleman at the beginning said he was just covering for someone else. There were no guides to help us over large rocks or through the fast paced rapids or to tell us where to stop so we missed our exit. The sign for Texas State Tubes was really faded and confusing for us because there was also a sign that said no trespassing so we kept going and ended up having to walk along the side back to our location, it wasn't a long walk but the rocks were very slippery and could have caused another accident specially with the children. They also had to call a bus driver in to take us back to our vehicles so we were standing out in the sun for about 30 minutes not knowing what to do or where to go then he wanted to know if the oil had been checked when all we wanted to do was get back home and take a shower because the bus too was extremely filthy. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

The lady we got tubes and phone cases from was extremely nice about student discounts and was very sociable. This is a place frequented by college students, so i wouldn't go with children as drinking does occur on the river. My boyfriend and I had a great experience anyways. No complaints. read more

What an awesome way to spend a day in Texas. Traveling to Austin for the first time from the East coast and everyone told us we had to "float the river". Texas state tubes came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The guys at the unloading station recommended their favorite BBQ place on the way back to Austin to try and our driver, Dillon A, was the best. Super helpful and courteous. My fiancé and 2 friends went to float the river on 7/2, which was a holiday weekend. None of us had ever been there and were looking forward to the trip. We got there and when we pulled up to pay they just gave us a total and wristbands. They didn't ask us if we wanted a tube for a cooler, a tube with a bottom etc. We were all just charged for regular tubes. So, we get out of the car walk all the way to get our tubes and when we go to grab a tube for the cooler we're told its extra money. We let the staff know no one told us that while we were paying, we could have done that while we were still in the car, and that the staff should be asking the patrons what kind of tubes they want. Instead of being apologetic an older man snaps at my friend and says, "well everyone is different." To which we replied, yes we understand that but we've never been here and they are the staff handling the money at the front gate, it might be helpful for them to let people know what needs to be done. So, we had to walk all the way back to the car to get money for the cooler tube. Then, I go to grab a tube with a bottom and am told that I cant have one, even though those were the same price as the regular tubes. I asked why I couldn't take one and was told, "because they are prime real-estate, if someone comes and cant put a cooler in a tube they're going to be mad." So, regardless of the fact that we already paid, had a crappy experience, and I was there first they refused to give us a tube with a bottom, which has never happened anywhere else I've floated a river. So, we move on and get into the water and start our day. Well, about 20% through we get caught on rocks and my tube pops. We move our tubes to shore and the guy sitting there tells us to move. I go on to say that we cannot move right now because my tube popped and we need to untie it from the others. So, he allows us to do so but when we ask what we're supposed to do for another tube, the answer was "there's nothing we can do." Luckily, we had the tube with the cooler so my friend was able to sit on that and her and her husband also shared one tube. We still had 80% of the way to go and we would have been SOL if we hadn't had the cooler tube. This facility was very unorganized, unprepared and flat out rude to us. There are TONS of places to go float a river and rent tubes. I do NOT recommend using Texas State Tubes, especially during a holiday weekend as they are not equipped with enough "prime real estate." read more

I floated with Texas State Tubes on August 7, 2019, and had a HORRIBLE experience. The drive to Martindale and the float were fine, but afterward I was dropped off at 6th and Congress without my shoes, socks, wallet, or smartphone. I asked the driver where my tote was, which held all of these things (and which he literally wrote my name on the lid) and he said, "I don't know. I am not your fucking babysitter!" He stomped off and left me on the corner drenched and without my shoes, wallet, and smartphone. He drove off in his dirty, run-down school bus. I called Texas State Tubes from my hotel, and the gentleman on the other line was dismissive and unconcerned. He promised he would get back to me, but after an hour of waiting to hear back from him, I called him again and was told nonchalantly that my belongings would be delivered to my hotel in an hour's time. I am very upset! I have traveled the world and have never had something like this happen to me. This is unacceptable. PERIOD. I have been humiliated and abandoned in a foreign city without my identification and means of communication. This "company" should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. read more

I love floating Texas State Tubes!! They're definitely a step above the rest when it comes to floating the San Marcos river. Even on the busiest days things run so smoothly, I'll never float with anyone else in San Marcos! Especially with their rates, you can't float anywhere else for such a sweet price!! Only $5 for a float if you bring your own tube and only $15 to borrow! 1. Parking is free!! Plus, they have 2 locations so you can park at the beginning or end of the float 2. Shuttles are always available so you don't have to wait to get your float started or get back to your car when you're done. 3. I love that TST lets you bring your own tube and they have equipment to fill them up at the start of the float! 4. They help you off the river at the end of your float, great customer service! After laying in a tube for several hours, it's nice to have someone there to help steady you and help you get your tubes/coolers out of the water. I don't understand these bad reviews regarding the trash in the river, TST definitely does their part providing trash bags and trash cans everywhere. The problem is the tubers who don't respect the river and keep throwing their trash in the water. Kudos to TST for doing their part to keep the river clean by providing bags for your empty cans and even helping you dispose of them once you're off the river! read more

I came here with my family and I had high hopes/expectations because of so many good reviews but it was quite a disappointment. It's a very unorganized place. There were no clear instructions and a warning about the rapids would have been nice especially to someone with 3 small kids, 2 of them fell out of their tubes, scariest moment of a parents life. To top all of that off the ending there was not clear signage or a human to say hey stop here so we floated right past it and stopped off on a beachy like area and had to climb our way back to the stairs, again, with 3 small kids going up river not fun at all. As if all of that wasn't bad enough the bus that they take you back to the beginning with is FILTHY. I didn't expect perfection from a old school bus but it was literally caked in dirt from the floor to the ceiling. All they'd have to do to clean it is hose it down, but clearly they never have. And to add insult to injury while you try to figure out where to go to get on the bus (again no signage or employee directions) you end up standing there for however long it takes the bus driver to come (30 min for us) and we were getting devoured by mosquitoes the whole time too. Needless to say I would NOT recommend. Skip it and go to lions club in the city much much nicer. read more

Went with another tubing company in the morning and it was a terrible experience, searched all the other area tubing companies (first time in New Braunfels) and decided to go with Texas tubes, it was crowded, but ORGANIZED which was the difference between a bad experience and a great experience. They told you where to park in an overflow lot, had people there to direct you what to do and so on so forth. Very pleased, will use this company when we return! read more

Can't speak about floating down the river as I never had the opportunity to do so. First of all their website is all lies: there are no RAFTS to rent, you will receive no response to ANY of the email addresses they provide, the phone number they provide you brings you straight to voicemail no matter how many times you call. Don't believe me? Try it. Furthermore, wasted 3 hours and plenty of money packing a cooler, taking Uber's, on a 2 day trip to Texas to be told to get out of our uber and wait only to be told there are no more tubes available. Needless to say, we were stranded and never got to experience the river, even though on their website states "no need to book online, just walk on up". Go to this place at your own risk because all the information they provide is untrue. read more
