My boyfriend and I recently moved to Cypress and were excited to check out local bars and businesses. As we were about to walk into Texas Tavern, we heard someone loudly yell the N-word in the parking lot. We immediately got back in the car and left. I don't want to be in a place that creates an environment where someone feels comfortable enough to yell something like that out publicly. If you are looking for a true community of caring friends this is your place. This is an establishment run by authentic people that do know everyone by their name. The staff is attentive and prompt, always knowing what you want before you order. Great prices, food truck options and always great tunes on the jukebox. The bathrooms are VERY clean and you can often find fresh flowers in the ladies room. This is a tribute to the hardworking, everyday guy/gal with a special touch. read more

Another spot that I've passed up time and time again. I simply ended up here. Had no plans on stopping by at all. In fact I visited 3 other bars before coming here. When I walked into another bar across the street from here who had the front AND back doors open and it still stank of heavy heavy smoke, I sped out, thought about this spot for some reason and headed over. This spots isn't as smokey as I thought it would be. The smoke is in there but it isn't nearly as heavy as where I had come from. The drinks were poured just okay and the the staff was friendly enough to where I would return on rare nights where I don't mind the smell of smoke. On Thursday's they have free jukebox night, which is pretty cool. They give you five bucks to go up and pick whatever you want. Nothing is banned on the jukebox which is very nice to know. I filled it up with rock and 80s. The crowd seemed to have enjoyed my selection. I even had a few people buy me a drink from some of the music I selected. I didn't order any food and really don't remember if they sell it or not. I'm almost certain that they do. When I return I will make sure to update this. Drink well and prosper. read more

I usually like this place. Cheap drinks, good music, but idk if I'll go back after tonight. It was last call and I ordered my drink, and put the money down. She said "I'll just take this as a tip" and proceeded to take my money. Put my hand on the money and said no, I'll have my drink, and she literally ripped the money from my hand, tearing my bills in the process, and just said no. She comes back and throws my money back at me at 2:01am, and when I asked for my drink this time she says it's after hours and can't make it anymore. If I do come back, I'll be looking for a different bartender. That's a next level of unprofessional behavior I've seen, even for a bar. read more

We go to the all you can eat crawfish every Sunday after church. Rachel is awesome! It is a very relaxing atmosphere. There is live music on Sundays. There is dart boards and pool. Lot's of TVs. Bathrooms are always clean. read more

If you like your bars mixed with hicks, rockers, smokers and even a few preppy boys from time to time, this is the place for you. Texan Tavern is small, smoking is allowed inside and out and the restrooms are disgusting. There's decent live music but only if you go on the right night. The outside seating is just plastic chairs thrown around and that's it. There's one or two pool tables at the most so don't come here if you're looking to play pool. It's definitely a local hangout where people come to get reaquainted and drink too much. WARNING: Don't leave your debit/credit card at the bar accidentally. Tavern will charge you $50 if you don't realize it and then you'll have to go through the hassle of fighting with your bank to get rid of that charge. read more

Love the staff, really friendly and helpful. Rachael Jayne and Emily are always super sweet and great to talk to when it's slow. Drinks are pretty average prices. They have decent bands. Occasionally they have awesome food cooked fresh on the grill. Decent well lit bathrooms. And there is a cigarette machine inside (just make sure your bills are pristine or it'll spit them out!). read more

We went here on a Friday night to watch a band we know. We were told ahead of time that it was a smoking venue but they had fans and a ventilation system. Let me tell you, none of those things mattered. This is a heavy smoking venue and they definitely cater to smokers. There was also no table service and none of the locks in the women's restroom worked. They told us if the smoke bothered us, we could sit outside on their patio. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?! And it's winter, mind you. Not a place we will ever return to. read more

This watering hole is cute and quaint. The service is nice, but not very prompt. It was Sunday night, not very busy inside. Took a while to order. The beer selection is terrible, and you can't see what they have on tap anywhere. It's smoky, but it is a bar... I didn't mind that. Lots of rude customers, not staff, customers. Lots of the men made me feel uncomfortable and not a single person bat an eye. None of the staff seemed to notice the harassment taking place, so I left abruptly. I had an amazing night all the way until I got to Texas Tavern. I stopped by for last call, a beer and a shot, I was feeling generous since it is Christmas time and left the bartender a $20 tip with a note "Merry Christmas!" only to have my beer picked up 2 minutes later by the same bartender, 10 minutes before 2am, and thrown in the trash. When I asked where my beer went the bartenders says I can't serve anymore? The bartender, rather than correct the mistake, offered to refund me the money. How stupid do you have to be to realize that giving the me a $1 beer is better than refunding the $4 that was paid for it. And the fact that your employees have that kind of control over your register is an epic #fail on the owner and management if it has any management #dontquityourdayjob #itsnotrocketscience read more
