Hidden gym!!! Date night addition lol. The hidden cellar is a cute intimate hole in the wall, but it definitely does not give hole in the wall vibes. It's beautiful, the owner is extremely attentive and knowledgeable of the different wine options. They had live music a few good chomping options but such a wide variety of wine and a few beers. We had the spinach artichoke dip, chicken flautas, charcuterie board and a turtle cheesecake for dessert. Everything was great, I would definitely come back here. Bonus: there's even an outdoor patio. Notably, a variety of local musicians entertain on Thursday through Saturday. The Cellar (obviously) specializes in wine, but also offers a decent beer selection. The small menu is far removed from standard bar-fare, with a surprising variety including some vegetarian. I personally like their Mediterranean Chicken Skewers and Feisty Feta Spread, but am a sucker for the off-menu, overstuffed ground beef tacos they serve some nights. Friends rave about their Chicken Salad Croissant. The owners - Karen and Lisa - and their staff do an outstanding job of taking care of their customers. What a lovely experience this was. Firstly the ambience is simply wonderful. Conducive to conversation, listening to music and just having a pleasant, pleasant evening. The entire place is comprised of high top tables, but the chairs are quite comfortable and the entire set up is quite lovely. It was raining the night we were there otherwise there's an outside patio, which I really like to return to and try. The live music is absolutely wonderful. James Roosa what's the entertainment for the evening and he was exceptionally good. We made a reservation which I would recommend because the place fills up quite quickly and I can see why. The wine list is quite good anywhere from standard to intermediate level wines and beers so as promised, the drinks were absolutely wonderful as was the service. The waitress was lovely attentive to us responsive to us. You can't ask for much more than that. We had a couple appetizers, which were absolutely enjoyable. But since charcuterie boards are one of the main options on their menu, they were out of a Hatch Chile cheese and Chorizo, no hot honey, no bread but we got pita.. so that was rather disappointing. The Hidden Cellar When pulling up... it doesn't look like much... a small strip center in the heart of Cypress off Fry Rd... the website said live music and it had non bar like food... It was softly lit, accenting off the wood floors and rock arches ... I walked through to the small bar in the rear, finding the only empty seat. The patrons were having lively conversations, the music of Mike Carey was in full gear, the atmosphere was a throwback to when I was a kid, watching my Dad jam out... I decided on a glass of Seven Daughters Moscato, as my first two choices were discontinued. (Temptress Milk Stout and 7 Spanish Angels coffee ale). The specials of the night were a mini charcuterie board, with choice of two cheeses and house made tacos. I love smoked Gouda and couldn't resist the Hatch Chili Cheddar. It came with crispy unleavened crackers and a mix of unsalted nuts, dried cranberries with mini dark chocolate squares, great starter. The full size tacos came out fresh made. Flavorful, not too spicy, although they offer jalapeños and Cholula if you'd like. All I needed was a little salt. Both the bartender (sorry, forgot his name) and the manager came over to check on me. Very nice, hometown feel. The music was indeed classic 60's, 70's and 80's, even on the patio area outside. Nice little spot close to home. The wait staff was very pleasant & cheery. As the evening went on, the place filled up so getting the bull to check out was a little slow - not an issue as long as you're not in a hurry. Keeping in mind the main draw is wine, charcuterie boards are a good bet and they had a nice selection of wine and cheeses. It isn't a full restaurant and showed. The other food items were only ok - next time, dinner elsewhere is likely. The brisket nachos looked great but were a bit overly salty. Maybe a one time fluke though. The chicken in the skewers were a little rubbery (not the highest quality) but, the tazki & pita were fresh and tasty. Again, the main draw is the relaxed atmosphere, live music and wine. It is hidden somewhat, so the name fits. I have been in Cypress for 30 years and not sure how I missed this hidden gem. They have good wine selection and some beers. The food menu is appetizer based with a good selection of starters to share, check out the website for more detail on the menu. I have liked all them. The owners Karen and Lisa take great care of the customers and the bar service is excellent. It is our favorite date night place for some wine and live music (Thurs / Fri / Sat nights). Karly was one of the best waitresses I have ever had. She was accommodating, and tried to pair our palate. It felt amazing to get such personalized service. The wine selection was fantastic. We had been here several times before and was always a great time with the live music, and personalized service. While trying to decide over a bottle of wine to get, Karen, who I found out is the owner, came up to the table and insisted to take our menu away from the table. After trying to explain that we have been looking at it a lot as we were trying different wines etc, she still was adamant that she should take the menu, stating they only have a few and needed it. That would have been perfectly understandable to me if she then gave the menu to someone else, but with it being early, very few people were in the place and she didn't give the menu to anyone. She then went to the bar area and scolded our waitress for allowing us to have the menu on the table because as she stated, "they spill wine all over the menus." At that point, it felt like we were unwelcome and that we shouldn't be there. So if going, make sure to get those menus off the table as soon as you can so you don't have to feel like you are a child! Ya know, I like the feel of this spot so much, I'm hesitating about telling y'all about it. It's definitely hidden and definitely nothing you would drive over 30 minutes to go to. It's just perfect if you live in Cypress. It's small, chill, not pretentious and overall a laid back place to enjoy the company of your friend(s) or boo thang! My friend and I needed a spot to hang and after a quick search on Yelp app, I came up with The Hidden Cellar which is open on Sundays for 4 hours and has 50% off glasses of all the open bottles. I literally walked out of there spending less than $20 for 4 glasses (sans tip). Any place I can drink that much and don't travel far to enjoy is a winner winner chicken dinner in my opinion! I'm a sweet kinda girl and I prefer white wines. I'm still working on my love of reds (it's not going well). If you like dessert wines, they have a great moscato that was smooth on the tongue: 7 Daughters....or maybe there were only 4, I don't remember but it was definitely some # of daughters and they were churning those grapes to a smooth sweetness that didn't take much to ingest. They passed out samples of a banana pudding cheesecake that was really knock your socks off good. I would have never in 5 million centuries ordered that but yum yum, I'd buy a slice if it's available next time. Would definitely recommend my husband and I celebrated our anniversary and after going to a restaurant that dissatisfied us we found this place nearby and decided to try it out we walked in and noticed there was live music and the ambience was very nice we were greeted I believe by a lady that was working there and showed us to a table it was quaint people were very nice. The music was great. It wasn't too loud which is nice because you can still have a conversation here and there we wish we would've been hungry and tried some of the appetizers they had and desserts. However, the service was impeccable. We try this place out because of the live music and the close proximity to where we were having dinner. It was a bit hard to find since it is tucked away between two sections of Blackhorse Ranch. It seems to cater to the neighborhood residents and an older crowd (45+). The live music was nice however the middle section was occupied by a party which made it hard to see the performer from the front or the back of the place due to the layout. Glasses of wine range from $9 and up which I assume is average since we hopped over to another wine bar and they were comparable. We ordered some spinach dip which was super cheesy and a bowl of Castelvetrano olives which cost $8 and tasted like black olives out of a can.
