Do NOT use this company if you care about your Oak trees and protecting them, or even your neighbors trees, from Oak Wilt! They are Not ISA Certified Arborists! If you don't have any oaks on your property, then they are fine, otherwise, absolutely Not! They trimmed my trees in Kerrville 3 years ago and when I hired them I specifically ask Mr Eddy if they would be immediately spraying the cuts on my huge, old oak trees because I knew that was important, and he told me yes that they did. Well I watched them trimming the limbs and they were not spraying as they cut, which I was told needed to be done, so I ask them about it. They said, "Oh we go back and spray when we're finished cutting." First, they are to be sprayed immediately, second there is absolutely no way they would remember every single cut, or see it, to be able to spray them 30 minutes or more later! Well they recently cut my neighbors trees, one of which is a Spanish Oak that I know is close enough to have roots intermingled with my huge old Live Oaks. Again, I ask the man if he was going to be spraying the cuts and he said yes, and showed me the can. Well I stood there and watched and after he cut a few he sprayed the cuts; however, when I went out of sight he did not spray his cuts! We left and when I came back there are all sorts of cuts on the limbs that were not sprayed and they are long gone. (See photos below) They will lie to you and NOT spray the cuts putting your Oaks, and other people's oaks, in jeopardy of getting the deadly Oak Wilt disease that is killing Oak trees all over our state!! Jerry and his crew always do a great job. We've used Jerry for a few years now and he has kept our Redbuds, Chinkapin Oaks, White Maple and Vitex looking fabulous. We've always recommended them to our friends This year, 2021 our home and landscaping suffered from the ice storms but, thankfully, all our trees survived, pretty much intact and we believe this was due mainly to the regular trimming/pruning service we have with Texas Tree Service. We lost a lot of shrubs and cactii and the sad part was that our largest cactii suffered from the freeze. We had a 10 foot Spanish Dagger collapse and the top third of a 9 foot giant cholla snap off. We had Jerry come over to check on our trees and also remove the Spanish Dagger and top 3rd of the Cholla, which had collapsed into the bottom of the plant. They needed a tractor to remove the Spanish Dagger and the crew cleaned up our Redbuds and Vitex and tidied up the Cholla. As always, we are very pleased with the professionalism of the crew and the excellent clean-up. read more

We called on a Friday evening to receive an estimate and was contacted on both Saturday and Sunday to coordinate scheduling - even though they were on vacation! They arrived Monday morning to give a fair and honest quote, which we quickly agreed to. They immediately began the work with several large machines and grinders to address several dead trees that were becoming a safety hazard. They completed the numerous jobs over our property in one day. The workers were friendly, respectful, and efficient with their time. When Meagan came out to do the bid I received an unexpected and much appreciated education on the health of my other oaks. We had a large stand (20+) of dead and dying live oak trees in our back yard which had become unsightly and hazardous. When we requested a quote to have them removed and the stumps ground, including stumps remaining from a tree clearing prior to our purchase of the property Jerry Eddy, the company owner, quickly traveled to our home and explained in detail what needed to be down and how Texas Tree Service would handle the job. We signed the contract, and the next day a large complement of men and equipment arrived to begin the task. The job was accomplished much more quickly than I would have thought possible and was completed exactly as Mr. Eddy had promised. The clean-up after the job was exceptionally thorough as well. When Mr. Eddy came to collect the final payment for the job I was so pleased that I asked him to look at another stand of live oaks which was in reasonably good condition which I hoped to preserve. After examining the area he told me what should be done and I immediately contracted with him to care for these trees. Again the job was done quickly and professionally. Approximately 1.5 years ago we moved to the Kerrville area on acreage. We knew the trees were in bad shape with lots of high big dead branches in large oaks, cedars that were mostly dead and dead standing oaks. I have never in my life been scammed as badly as I was with Texas Tree Service. After what we thought was an agreed upon price the final bill was $19,671.00 over what we truly thought it was going to be. We took money out of an IRA to pay the $45,171.00! We would never have agreed to this amount! They also did much more to the property than I had wanted....For some reason they thought we needed to drive a tractor under all the trees at the front of the property. Now we have absolutely no privacy from the highway! I was out of town for 2 days when it happened...I would have told them that that was not what we wanted! Just take out dead trees not the whole privacy screen! If you use this company make absolutely sure you ask more questions than we thought we had to. $12,600.00 for hauling! When we didn't know that it was not included in the original price! Be aware and be watchful when these guys are on your property. Also, if we hadn't paid a lien would have been levied on the property while we sorted it out! They also used our tractor, which they ran into something, pushed in the grill, and never mentioned it. One worker leaned a ladder on our new gutter and smashed it in. They have agreed to repair that....but when? read more

I'm writing this recommendation for the simple reason that Texas Tree Service did a great job bidding on, removing a very large roof-threatening live oak and cleaning up after. They even did some extra trimming of adjacent limbs also putting the roof in danger, at no extra cost. Great hard-working guys, friendly, capable and paying attention to safety and detail!
