Called to request a foundation inspection, as the home is 30 years old, we have some very minor…read moretile cracks, and do see some seasonal movement in door openings (mostly one upstairs one). Some brickwork is cracked around suspended arches and cornerstone decorative pieces (e.g. above garage doors) but obviously has been for decades. I specifically called Cornerstone because I wanted a serious contractor who does actual poured footings, not that stacked cylinder mess that could actually crack your foundation worse as they use your house for the jack leverage. Dave was on time, courteous and (given that our appointment was in the middle of the Viral Apocalypse) understanding that I was working from home instead of 'off' for the day of our appointment. We spoke for a bit, he outlined everything well and asked pertinent questions about my reasons for calling, then got down to work inspecting...and recommended no work be done at this time. I offered to pay a service charge but he said that wasn't necessary. We did follow up on the phone briefly (I was busy when he was finished) and I am strongly considering coming back to them for some drainage improvements here and there as precautionary measures. Between flooding the underside of our home due to not properly backfilling (pictured below) to installing a grinder pump on a bathroom and kitchen and it failing evey six months... they went from promising us the grinder is strong enough to grind anything and everything to today where they said, and I quote, "you shouldn't flush even toilet paper down those pumps and instead throw the toilet paper in a trash can". They screen my call, my husbands calls, and even the guys they sent to "fix" the problem. It's a mess, unprofessional, and costing us thousands of dollars to fix.
