We went here to try it because we've never been here before and when we got to the window we asked for a cup of water, after purchasing 2 other drinks. The lady made this face of disgust, and said "I'm not giving you free water, you either buy a bottle or drink out of the sink!" I don't know how big halal is in Texas, but knowing that these folks use only pure beef in their burgers and quality chicken in the sandwiches makes me comfortable that I am getting better than any fast food franchise, and on par with most fast casual kitchens in the vicinity. After driving down to Texas Chicken & Burgers for a take out order, and consuming three of their double burgers and spicy chicken sandwich with the family, I am satisfied that they know what they are doing. The burger was fresh, didn't taste frozen, and had good flavor, texture and excellent accompaniment and bun. At least as tasty as something like Applebees offerings, and less grease soaked than Five Guys. Similarly, the chicken was crisp, well breaded and about 3/4" thick inside the same decent bun. Fries were likewise newly cut and deep fried, holding their crunch to the very end. Their soft drinks are a little heavy on the premix syrup, and thus a bit sweeter than expected. Some like that taste. Some don't. Overall, Texas Chicken & Burgers is a real alternative in the take out wars and worthy of your consideration. read more

Got 2 legs for $5 and 3 tenders and a biscuit for $7. I think the food is overpriced. My wife said the food tasted good. I thought it was bland but for the biscuit which was really good. The restaurant has drive thru and indoor seating like many fast food restaurants. I am a regular customer here and come because they are the only place in my area who have halal fried chicken. And boy do they do fried chicken right. For those who are not aware, halal is a dietary restriction Muslims have. It's safe to get their spicy chicken. It's definitely not super spicy, because I still eat it with extra hot sauce, but it is more flavorful than the regular. They serve chicken tenders, those are also worth picking up too. It's the same tender they use in their chicken crispy burger which is also a win. The only real criticism I have for this place is that some days their service can be terribly slow. Like it shouldn't take 30 mins to pack 2 pieces of chicken which is clearly cooked and displayed. If you're going to take so long then at least get me a fresh piece of chicken, I usually end up with the stale one which has been kept out for some time. All and all if you're looking for halal fried chicken which is open late, then you have got to stop here. read more

Despite some negative reviews (which is why I felt compelled to leave my positive experience), Texas Chicken & Burgers exceeded all of my expectations on every level. I used the drive thru and the guy that took my order was super nice and helpful. My friend and I split the 8 piece chicken tender meal, which came with 2 sides & 4 biscuits for about $20. For the high quality of food I received, the great portion size, as well as it being freshly cooked upon order, I'd say that the estimated $10 per person was worth it and in line with other fast food/takeout places in the area. The Tenders were REAL white meat, no "yucky" or chewy pieces, and freshly made. The breading had a great seasoned taste to it and were perfectly crispy, even after we got it home. I had fries which were hot & fresh, and my friend had the cheese fries w/whiz and said they were delicious. Even the biscuits were tasty! OVERALL - open 7 days a week, open late hours (10am - 2 or 3am); food is extremely fresh & cooked to order (even when ordering it at 11pm!), prices are typical for the area, especially for the high quality of food served, and kind staff. Finally stopped in after driving past several times. Glad we did. Inside is well lit, clean and inviting. The staff was very friendly. We ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and "Hell" burger combos to go. We watched as the chef made everything, from the burger patties to the bacon, fresh, and to order as they advertised. The also placed them nicely in the containers, not warped in wax paper or smashed in a box like the major fast food places. We got home, and enjoyed the food. The "Hell" burger definitely is spicy so be prepared if you are looking for a mild heat level. The fries are thin, and were fresh, but nothing exciting. The double bacon cheeseburger was great! The topping were all fresh, and they don't skimp on them. They also are on potato rolls. Would we go back? Yes! Next time we will try the chicken. read more

I swear, I don't know what it was but it definitely didn't have the consistency of real chicken. Should have gone with "bone in." The burger had the texture of a burger from public school. Yes, this is an honest review. Listen, I'm an eater. I can eat just about anything. I couldn't finish the burger without going back to grade school. "Time loop burger?" The fried chicken is good and tasty, not heavily breaded. Spicy has a nice kick sometimes. I find the spice level varies a bit. Biscuits are also good. If you go during normal hours you're fine. Sometimes if you go in between traditional meal times the chicken may have been in the warmer since lunch. I've had more than one leathery piece of chicken at 3:30 in the afternoon. The one exception is the fries. They must be MTO. They're always hot, crispy, and taste real good. Unfortunately, the number of sides is low and outside the fries not that good. The four stars is based on when the chicken is good. If we had half stars, I'd give this 3.5 due to some consistency issues. read more

Ate here for the first time the other day and I was extremely disappointed. The staff here are extremely rude. The lady at the window looked like it would break her to just crack a smile. Also it seemed quite unorganized, the gentleman was running back and forth helping people at the counter but using the drive through register and they got my order messed up. I will never order from here again mainly because of the customer service. In regards to the food, i ordered burgers and fried chicken. The burgers were absolutely disgusting! And I'm not exaggerating by any stretch of the imagination. The bun was the only thing okay on the burger. I only gave two stars because the fried chicken was very good. I dined in and the service was friendly and fast, however my order wasn't correct. No problem - they replaced it easily enough. The main problem was and the only reason they get only 1 star is that when I returned my original order, the chicken (dark meat-I had ordered white meat) was placed back on the serving tray - a clear health code violation. There is a reason that restaurants are not allowed to serve the same food twice. They have no idea if I had sneezed on the food, licked it, spat on it or what (I didn't) but I certainly breathed on it. Drove past it a few times over the past couple of weeks. Figured I'd stop in and give it a try. The fries were crispy enough and tasted good. The burger was decent, and I was happily surprised by how fresh the produce (lettuce, tomato, etc.) tasted that was that used on the burger. The chicken tenders were decent too. Is this a place that will blow you away, not really. If you want a good meal at a reasonable price this place will be perfect to go to. The inside of was spotless which also was very nice to see.
