YUP! this place is awesome. I have been searching for a good Thai restaurant in Columbia for 6 months. Most of the other Thai restaurants in CoMo disappointed me. They are expensive and tasteless. I was so happy that I gave it a try when I drove by the other day. 1st of all, the taste is very closed to many of good Thai food that I had in California. Their price is reasonable and the quality of the meat is decent at the same time. The lunch combo is cheap and you have a variety of choices. The owner is super friendly and the chef always waves at me when she sees me at the counter. I have been here everyday since I first checked the restaurant out. Try almost all the dishes and nothing that I don't like. Give it a try if you want good Thai food in CoMo. read more

This place has got to stop with the delicious Thai food. Ok, no they don't, but they do need to be open on Sunday. Everything I have had here is excellent! Waiting for them to realize they can do more and move into a bigger spot with more space. The line is always out of the door at lunch time, which I assume turns people off. Fresh, well spiced, friendly staff who weren't overbearing but care that you're satisfied. I was impressed with my meal. Serving size was adequate, prices are very fair. I am visiting from California and have many wonderful Thai options out there. It was nice to find something that compared well to my experiences from home. I am transferring to Mizzou in the fall and my mom and I were looking for somewhere delicious and this place is awesome!!! We got the pad se ewe and the crab fried rice. Absolutely delicious combo- sweet and savory, my absolute favorite! The girl who was behind the counter was very attentive and nice. I would say the best part was the atmosphere- it we'd incredibly relaxed and a nice, smaller space. The Thai ice tea was probably one of the best I have ever had and I LOVE THAI ICE TEA. This is one of my favorite places for Thai food in Columbia. Most of the other restaurants have major flaws including small portions, overpriced, etc. Thai Express has shown none of those signs so far. I had the Tom Yum noodle soup, Pad Thai, Thai butterfly, sweet and sour stir fry, and crispy spring rolls. All of which was quite tasty. The Pad Thai surprisingly enough is the most dissapointing. Just left with a horrendous experience. This place should be shut down. They served my husband pork when he ordered beef. He is allergic to pork and had a reaction. The pad thai had sugar sprinkled on it. And the yellow curry was watery with 3 carrots. I love this place. I was so excited to get some Thai food in town that tasted as good as what I was used to when I lived in Chicago. (Chim's and Bangkok Gardens just don't do it for me). I never order off the buffet-type line, so I can't really speak to that experience - I always order off the menu. The curries are delicious and piping hot and the portions are generous. The pad thai was a little sweet for my taste. But again, the curries are quite good so I just order those. The spring rolls are also tasty. The staff here is super friendly, and they'll describe things on the menu if you're not familiar with them. Also, this place is great for when you're eating with vegetarians and vegans and gluten-free friends. Everyone can find something to eat. It's a small space so during lunch there isn't always a place to sit. I wish they would request that parties of 1 sit at the bar, so that they aren't taking up one of the few tables. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Columbia. The serving sizes are big and the food is exquisite. They have a spice level ranging from 1-5. A 3 is reasonably spicy, but I typically prefer level 4. I've had various dishes here, but my favorites include the Thai fried rice, tom yum shrimp noodles, and their pad c-ew. During lunch hours, they have a cafeteria-style lunch special, which is great if you're in a hurry. Although, I prefer to order from the menu, as the lunch special items are limited in selection. I'm a regular customer and twice they've made a mistake and instead of making it over, they reuse the dish that was incorrect and try to correct it. For example, my daughter ordered PadThai and the noodles weren't cooked enough. When we asked that it be made again, they use the same food and cooked the noddles longer. Tasted horrible and my little daughter didn't eat. This time around, we ordered Thai fried rice, spice level 2 for one. Both were spice level 2. It was too hot for her to eat, so we asked for them to make it again. When it came out it was still hot and tasted as if it had been recooked. Done eating there. I'll either make our own or find another Thai place. That's no way to treat regulars who clean up after themselves and leaves tips!!!! read more

I had not eaten a certain dish in almost 30 years and to my amazement, found it listed on the vast menu in this restaurant. Its name? Yen Ta Foo noodles, as opposed to the Singaporean Yong Tau Foo noodles, a mind blowing dish with huge variety of choice of additions of delicacies to noodles in a clear broth. This here is the Thai version of it. It has fishballs (these are little ball shaped gems made from seasoned puréed fish and then boiled), fish cake (same principle as the balls but instead, are fried), squid and blood cake (a rare delicacy that even Andrew Zimmern loves) with rice vermicelli noodles in a pink spicy but sinfully delicious broth. Imagine my delight as I wolfed it down and was so thoroughly satisfied with my meal. I had to pick up my meal as they only deliver through mizzmenus and don't deliver to my neck of the woods. By far the best Thai food in Columbia! My compadres had the crab fried rice, which paled in comparison to what I had, and the beef noodle soup, with its richly beef flavored broth with beef chunks, beef meat balls and veges over thin flat rice noodles, which is also to die for. The taste of the broth is a dead giveaway about it being homemade and not from some knock off beef broth from a can or packet. I know I'll head here for more Thai yummies if I'm ever in town again. The inconvenience of having to pick up my meal instead of it being delivered is definitely outweighed by the superb standards of their food. read more

Decided to try this place while visiting Columbia and I was not dissapointed. The gal at the counter was nice and attentive. She kept checking on us and refilling our drinks during our meal. I ordered the spicy seafood soup and it was delicious. The broth was savory with a nice balance of lemongrass, ginger and spices. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked...highly recommend this item which in their full menu. My husband ordered the yellow chicken curry and my son the beef fried rice. These items were good but nothing extraordinary. Now I have to say, we have a pretty amazing Thai (Siam) restaurant in our hometown (review also available here) so we've been kind of spoiled with authentic and amazing Thai food for years.
