Thai Jasmine is no match for Lima's other popular Thai restaurant, Thai Food Carry Out, but it's not horrible. To begin with, the place has weird hours. It closes from about 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a lunch break, but patrons are allowed to continue coming and dining if the place isn't empty at 3 p.m. A simple order of red curry, pad thai and autumn rolls took a whopping 25 minutes to be served, and it wasn't spectacular. The autumn rolls were tasty and completely vegetarian -- easily the best part of the meal. Our server seated us and took forever to return for our orders. She forgot chopsticks after being asked twice but was kind enough to brew a fresh pot of coffee when my friend asked for a cup. The restaurant does seem cleaner and more established than Thai Food Carry Out, but the food falls short of the mark. read more

The waitstaff is extremely helpful and engaging and the food is brilliantly simple and never overdone. The Pad Prik King is one of my favorite dishes hands down and always has crispy green beans that are properly cooked with just the right amount of sauce. Being that it is Lima, this place is better than it should be. The Autumn rolls are where every meal should start as they are always served crispy with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. When I go to Thai Jasmine Garden, I always get the Honey Sesame Noodle. I've never seen it on a menu before, but it really is a must try. Rice noodles in a semisweet sauce with sesame seeds, fried egg, bell peppers and tofu sounds like it might be an odd combo, but I'm very glad I took the server's recommendation to give it a try. Don't worry if you are a Thai Food purist. The collection of curries and traditional stir-fries is all here too and worth a try. While the location leaves a bit to be desired and the parking lot is often full to the brim on the weekends, this is a place every Lima (and surrounding areas) should give a try. Don't worry if you aren't familiar with the cuisine of Thailand. The servers are friendly and more than happy to walk you through the menu or you could just start with the Honey Sesame Noodles. It's a sure-fire winner. read more

Great little authentic Thai place in sleepy Lima, OH. Ambience is quaint and cozy. The lumbar support in the booths is top notch! I appreciate how they pull the blinds over all the windows so that you aren't reminded that you are in Lima (the bars help you feel safer too). Food is quite excellent if not spectacular for this city. Service is ok, but what do you expect in Lima?? All in all a shiny Gem in a boring little town.... I love that they don't ask how spicy because it's not supposed to be spicy. It wasn't. Very good flavor. Yellow curry - with tofu. Lots of tofu and a good size pot of curry. My favorite restaurant in Lima, OH, hands down. The funky decor is just tacky enough to charm me, and the spring rolls are one of my top five food favorites, ever. The mango ice cream with coconut rice is to die for. I've been eating here for 10-ish years now, and never had anything that was not exceptional. Always fresh, always tasty, always served in a timely manner and with a smile..... and it's wonderful (!!) to have somewhere in Lima that's not a pre-packaged food chain restaurant or one of those awful all-you-can-eat places. (Not that I'd go near those) but unfortunately those businesses thrive. I don't think we should necessarily eat all we can eat.....just sayin'. Go get some Thai Jasmine! read more

Not the greatest area of Lima by any means, but damn was the food good. The lobster special had huge chunks of lobster, the crab rangoons were made in house, and the BYOB saved me a ton. I'd highly recommend stopping in here for lunch or dinner. Very good. read more

I got the green curry and it came in a large portion leaving me feeling full after I got done eating! Their Thai iced tea (with cream) was excellent also! But the best part about the whole eating experience was the waitress! I can not remember the last time I've had such a great waitress wait my table! Food was fast, had food suggestions, wasn't in a rush, wasn't rude, checked on me a few times (more than I'd expect for what i had!), And was super nice! To me, this waitress made the restaurant a great place to eat! Either great employers, or just a stellar employee! read more

Best hidden gem in Lima! I love Thai Jasmine and eat there frequently, often bringing out of town friends with me who inevitably fall in love with their food. A few of my favorite dishes are lettuce wraps, steamed dumplings, pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, and pa nang curry. Love thai jasmine! I usually get the chicken pad Thai and I have frequent cravings for their Thai iced coffee. SO DELICIOUS! Pricing is also good. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because the service is usually quite slow, and the ambiance of the place has much to be desired. But it's still one of my favorite Lima lunch spots! Edited to add: four years later and this food is still amazing. I've had chicken pad Thai all over the world and somehow this is still the best. I've also learned this place is now BYOB. Service is still horrible though, so try to avoid busy times or be prepared to wait. read more

This is the first place I ever tried Thai food, and it remains some of the best Thai food I've ever had. I don't remember what I had the first time I ever came here, but the most recent time, I had the Pad See Ew and the Thai iced tea. My best friend had the crab fried rice. I found her rice to be a little dry, and I usually prefer mine a little more moist, but the taste was good. Not overwhelmingly crabby-tasting, but sweet and so normal it was almost bland. I liked my Pad See Ew a lot more. It was savory, with a tiny hint of sweetness and spice. The noodles were thick, but not sticky or too soupy. My iced tea was amazing. The cream made it sweet, but not too sweet, and the color ended up this lovely orange. read more

The ambience of the place is very nice. We ordered the curry fried rice and the satay fried rice . Absolutely delighted with the rich flavors and the beautiful plate organization. We love food here. It is just as good, if not better, than the Thai Food I've had in metropolitan areas we have lived in. If you like spicy I recommend the Pla Pa Ped (fried snapper). It is absolutely addictive! Also of note is the Crab Rangoon. Some of the best I have had globally. I kid you not. The curry (I have had all of them) are also delicious. The restaurant is small and sometimes service is slow...but recently they seem to have hired more staff and service is much improved. In addition they have remodeled and they continue to make cosmetic changes... but the food is always wonderful. It doesn't look like much from the road but it's definitely worth a stop inside. Additionally, they do not serve alcohol, but there is a great place across Pine Street that carries a lovely selection of beers and other alcohol. The restaurant gladly provides glasses. read more

I give Thai Jasmine four stars only because my experience of Thai food is relatively limited. I must leave room for the possibility of one day encountering even better Thai food. But make no mistake: given the quality of the atmosphere, food, and service at Thai Jasmine, that possibility is extremely difficult to imagine. Having been to Thai Jasmine on numerous occassions, I can confidently say that their service is always friendly and prompt. It has never taken long to receive my order, and no matter what I order it always exceeds my wildest expectations. Among my favorite dishes are their crispy rolls, pad ka pow, pad kee mow, and mussman curry. Despite the quality of the food, their prices are quite affordable. One can purchase a sumptuous dinner for $10 (tip included). Regardless of whether or not there is a Thai restaurant that exceeds Thai Jasmine somewhere on earth, I can say with complete confidence that it is the best Thai restaurant in Lima. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is the best restaurant in Lima. Period. It is a true diamod in the rough. read more
