I was welcomed by a nice lady at the register who took my order. She helped me with a couple of questions I had because I wanted to try something new but also wanted to get one of the Mozzarella Corn Dogs. I ordered a couple of tacos this time. Both were on the spicy side but not a lingering, hot spicy...just a quick "bite back" spicy, if you know what I mean. One was a Spicy Pork and the other was Chicken Teriyaki but both had a similar amount of spice. Might have been the sauce used. Hubby ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box. It was really good as well. I like this location as it's closer to me than Troy but both have great service and food.

I grabbed a menu and began my search for my fated dish. Having always been a fan of teriyaki chicken, that's what I went ahead and ordered. The staff, in the little interaction I had was friendly and the food came out promptly. Unlike some teriyaki chicken, this was thankfully not fatty and made for a pleasant dining experience. The avocado was fresh, and the bottled sauces that were included offered incredible flavor! I would say, from the meal, my favorite dishes were the chicken itself the kimchi (which was extra) and the noodles pictured in the bottom right (which I do not know their name). They were cold, which I believe is how they are served but they were really good and meaty! The kimchi was delicious and paired SO well with the dish! My only complaints were with the rice and the drinks. I was not really a fan of the texture of the rice and the soda was a bit flat. Overall I would rate Kimchi box a 4/5. A charming and clean establishment in its own right and I would gladly go back, especially to have some revitalizing food on a cool rainy day!

The Crab Crunch Roll wasn't a big hit amongst friends as the coating on the outside of the rice has a funny taste that we just didn't love. Oak Park Roll was a nice twist on a California roll, the pineapple added a nice sweetness! And both the Eel Avocado and Dragon roll were delicious, though I absolutely love eel so I am biased. It looks nice inside and the kitchen is something like an open concept. There is seating inside but I don't think it I'd ever want to dine in, this definitely feels like a place you only get takeout from. We ordered online and their website told us it would be about 15 minutes, but it wasn't ready until 45 minutes after we placed our order. Maybe it's just an automated responses from the website to guess your wait time, but this could be really frustrating if you show up and expect your food to be ready and half to wait another 30 minutes.

I have come to really appreciate and enjoy the food here, please continue to be excellent. We got a carry-out order with so much. We got the fried potstickers, so crispy and delicious. We got the crab meat wantons, I am craving them right now, so crispy and yummy. I got the calzone sushi, it was crunchy on the outside and creamy delicious on the inside, I want this one every time. We got the Philadelphia roll, a summer roll with jalapenos, a cucumber and avocado roll, and the most surprising delicious treat, a crunchy chicken roll, another must have. We also got a side order of lo mien noodles, they are so good and savory, I love an order of this every time. The people working here were so kind and the portions were huge and the prices were great. We were able to order, walk around Meijer then come back and get the food with ease. Since my first time, I have stopped by a few times, and one child comes here all of the time with friends. It is a neighborhood staple.

We were promptly seated just after the happy hour began and there were some tables taken up already. Service was excellent. Very attentive and helpful. We ordered the ribs, fried chicken bites, and then each of the happy hour sushi rolls. The stars of the show were the ribs and fried chicken. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. They weren't too sugary either, but definitely had some sweet to them. I'm not a huge rib guy, but these were special. The fried chicken was equally delicious. It came with a sauce that was very good too. Would go back just for those two items. The sushi was good, but not the best I've had. My favorite was probably the shrimp tempura roll. Spicy tuna roll was pretty good as well. Because of how good the ribs/chicken were, this gets a 5 star. The happy hour pricing was very reasonable. Normal pricing a bit rough.

It really added to the whole experience. For starters, we shared the hamachi and crispy rice, both of which were fresh and delicious. For mains, we got the pork ribs and the chicken fried rice, and honestly, the fried rice was a highlight. The panko-crusted chicken pieces in it were such a clever touch. The ribs could use additional flavor (think more ginger-soy). I also loved the cucumber mocktail, which was so refreshing and a great option if you're not drinking. However, what really ruined the occasion was how the restaurant handled the birthday cake. When it was time to bring out the cake that we had brought with us, our table was still covered with dirty and empty plates from dinner. Instead of clearing the table and preparing for the celebration, the staff simply placed the cake on the table and walked away. We then had to flag someone down to ask for a knife so we could cut the cake. We also needed clean plates and forks, but instead of providing them, the staff brought us small plastic takeout containers and suggested that we serve the cake in those boxes. At that point, I was genuinely upset. We asked them to repackage the cake, took it with us, and ended up celebrating elsewhere. For a restaurant that regularly hosts birthday celebrations, this level of service was surprising and unacceptable. In most restaurants, staff help make the occasion special by clearing the table, providing plates and utensils, and assisting with serving the cake. None of that happened here. We've celebrated several birthdays at Nara over the years because it was our son's favorite restaurant, but after this experience, we won't be returning.

It wasn't crazy busy but I know our server had a few tables. We waited about 10+ minutes for our drinks to the point that I walked up to the bar to grab our own. It was 95 degrees outside and we were really in need of something to drink. Our food (2 kids meals and a gf meal) were eventually served. I requested extra sauce on the side and an extra kid meal to split. No sauce and it seemed like the 3rd kid meal wasn't entered as it was served after we were done. My meal (spicy Chang's chicken full size) was meager at best. I am used to taking some food home but finished it all. I'm thinking the portions are now also reduced yet not the prices. The kids meal seemed to have more good than my $20 dish. We had to ask for refill on our waters and flag the server down. Why though? Lastly, the bill came and no fortune cookies. In the grand scheme of things ids no big deal I guess but when we go frequently and this seems to be a regular occurrence, it makes me not want to go back and support. I still tipped +20% but I know I should not have. I just feel bad not tipping. Further, that server was also not new, seem them several times there. P.F. Chang's, get your affairs in order. I got home and opened the food and it was filled with vegetables I was allergic to. I called and spoke with the person I ordered from they confirmed that it should've been made with only bok choy and was told to come back and get the correct food. I asked on this phone call if I would need to bring the food that was made incorrectly back they assured me I didn't. Then less than 10 minutes later called me back and said that the kitchen didn't think they made a mistake and to bring back the food to prove they were wrong. I came back with the receipt and incorrectly made item and inquired as to why they switched up in less than 10 minutes no response was given. Then a woman who I believe to be an owner opened up the food and started sifting through it with a spoon telling me what the vegetables were. Once I again reminded them that, that still isn't what I ordered she finally remade the food and made me wait again as they didn't have the correctly made meal ready as they promised me on both phone calls. This incident also violates Rule 3-306.14 of the Michigan Food Safety Code as well. I have been a loyal customer of Shang-ri La's Midtown and West Bloomfield location even during COVID and to be treated this way was pretty devastating.
