Wasn't sure what to expect of this place, I heard previously this place had good food. So I had to find out for myself. 4/5 stars is good but not the best. So I wanted to see if 4/5 was a truthful rating. I ordered the crab Rangoon's as an app. Instantly loved them. Good chewy to crunch ratio and paired with the sweet n sour sauce it's even better. The taste was as good as a crab Rangoon can get. Cream cheese overpowered the crab a bit. Although I think I preferred that. 8/10 My main entree was the Garlic fried rice with tofu. I liked this a lot too and the portion size was insane for the amount your paying! Not too oily and had lots of flavor within the rice, although the tofu was interestingly bland. To an extent in which it's not normal. Anyways I'm sure going with the beef or chicken would've been the better option, sadly a loss for vegetarians. 7/10 PS. Medium is traditional medium spice level. Next entree was the pad Thai noodles with chicken and with tofu. The pad Thai tasted like many pad Thais I've had before, but good ones! Like how good pad Thais should taste. 8/10 Service was minimal but efficient, and the ambiance is what initially had me questioning if the food would be good. But I was proven wrong.

I really love this place. I have been coming here for probably two decades! Even though it does not look like much, their food is crave-able and delicious. I like how they put just the right amount of spice depending on how your order. Some places still make food spicy if you want mild or no spice. In my opinion, they have some of the best pad thai and curry fried rice anywhere! I really enjoy their iced tea, so sweet, creamy and delicious. The family is a big fan of the chicken satay. Either eating in or carrying out, they offer large portions and good prices (despite the extra percent added to the credit card, which I would rather they raise all of the prices, I rarely carry any cash). This is a place my family loves to come over and over again because they have good service, consistent food quality, and I know we are going to have a great experience here. The decor does not matter to me, it is the quality of the meal that I enjoy.

I stopped in at Thai Fortune after reading the Yelp reviews. Certainly a mixed bag so order accordingly. Even the pictures seems to all be a monochromatic glob of food. I usually think of bright fresh food and colors in Thai food. This is more like the old days of Chinese takeout where the food turns into Asian aspic the food being encased in a block of brown jelly when cool. It could have been photographed in black and white. Ok I had #16. Chicken, pea pods etc, etc. Hot yet bland. Basic Thai fuel but nothing to write home about. The Thai salad is a green salad with tofu and bean sprouts. Fresh but basic. The dressing tasted like a melted orange popsicle. Weak. Sorry Thai Fortune but I call em like I see em. I went looking for a fortune and found out I was on Oak Island!

The case of macarons was beautiful , multicolored rows of well labelled flavors. We each made some selections and ordered some drinks. Our hosts ordered a large French press pot to share. I had time to speak with staff about the last k of space for baking and how they arrived at so many flavors. They do not bake onsite but receive frozen shipments from the main bakery in Grand Rapids as handiest the Holland, Michigan store. They defrost enough each for each day so they never run out of flavors. They were some of best I have ever had. Nothing like what you might find in the bakery section of a grocer. This is an historic residential building retrofit with a nice conversion to retail without losing its charming brickwork. I will definitely return when next in Ann Arbor.

It's so appealing. The macarons displayed in the case were equally appealing. I don't recall all the flavors, but I had a tough time picking out flavors for my friend and, of course, something for me. I chose three macarons to enjoy at the shop: blueberry, coconut, and strawberry cheesecake. I liked the delicate crack of the macaron shells and the creamy, flavorful centers. Each sported a design to distinguish itself from the others further. I also had a piping hot Earl Gray tea along with these treats. Espresso, French and Italian sodas, and lattes are also available. Customers stopped in throughout my visit for a quick purchase or to savor their macarons at nearby tables. Service was disappointing.

But I imagine with cost of operation these days it makes sense and I am in a spot where I can support this small business (reasonably). It is a super fun store. Use caution bringing a small child into this store, as there will be several things within their reach and they will probably want to get their hands on everything. The service has always been well and I have not had any issues with staffing, everyone is friendly and helpful. That said, during my last few visits it seemed like they may have been short-staffed because quite a few tables weren't cleaned off in a timely manner, trash was left behind on the floors while we were trying to enjoy our meal. The food is good, but it can be too salty at times or not seasoned enough. Again, hit or miss. The drinks are also hit or miss, but this time it was a hit. I tried the margarita flight and it was delicious, worth every penny! I was expecting small glasses, but they were full-size. I'd recommend sharing them if you're a lightweight. They have remodeled the interior but it's nothing special. Still, it's a solid place for seafood. I usually get the same thing every time, and of course the cheddar bay biscuits are always on point. I grabbed a menu and began my search for my fated dish. Having always been a fan of teriyaki chicken, that's what I went ahead and ordered. The staff, in the little interaction I had was friendly and the food came out promptly. Unlike some teriyaki chicken, this was thankfully not fatty and made for a pleasant dining experience. The avocado was fresh, and the bottled sauces that were included offered incredible flavor! I would say, from the meal, my favorite dishes were the chicken itself the kimchi (which was extra) and the noodles pictured in the bottom right (which I do not know their name). They were cold, which I believe is how they are served but they were really good and meaty! The kimchi was delicious and paired SO well with the dish! My only complaints were with the rice and the drinks. I was not really a fan of the texture of the rice and the soda was a bit flat. Overall I would rate Kimchi box a 4/5.
