So much that it put a big dent in what was to become my main entree. The chicken curry dish however it was a surprise. It was mentioned that the chicken is lightly breaded and fried as part of the dish, however, I didn't realize it would change the texture of the meal as much as it did. I found myself stripping off the fried part of the chicken and just eating the meat with the curry which tasted very good.

Awesome taste, fresh ingredients and it came with an egg on top, which is the really authentic way to have this dish in Thailand. My better half had Tom Yam Gung (spicy soup with prawn) and Pad Thai Gai (noodles with chicken). Also very tasty and authentic taste. The owner of the restaurant (from Phuket Island) is very welcoming and friendly. Fun to talk to. We really enjoyed our dinner here and will come back again soon!

Outside tables on courted portion of street so some issues with headlights on you on occasion. Horse drawn carriages also go by frequently as a pleasant distraction. Unusual 3 euro per person "cover charge" for table setting. Small charge for tap water too. Maybe this is an Austrian custom but not something I've ever encountered in the USA. Overall, a pleasant and tasty change of pace from Austrian food ( which I do like).

This eatery has been around for a while which is a good sign. It is also frequented by some Thai locals in Vienna. This is also a plus but I have never had a superlative dining experience here. A recent meal reconfirmed that fact. The opening course Tom Kha Gai - coconut milk soup with chicken and lemon grass was spicy enough but not as flavorful as I like. The popular Gai Pad Khing main course was def better especially with the aid of a homemade chili sauce. I wasn't wowed but pleased. Service was fine although it was slightly annoying when the credit card machine didn't work. Fortunately we had enough cash on us so we didn't wind up in the kitchen washing dishes! Special alert!! - I'm adding this to the review a few weeks later. Even though I paid in cash when I was told the credit card machine didn't seem to be working, this restaurant still charged my credit card as I saw when I got my credit card statement. Be aware of this practice and be sure to get a receipt if you pay in cash after they take your credit card, put it in the machine, and then inform you that the credit card machine isn't working!

I've gotten take-out here twice now…read more The first time was quick and the spring rolls were fresh and delicious. Spot on. This most recent time, I ordered a noodle dish and sat down to wait. Twenty minutes later, thinking chicken and noodles shouldn't really take this long, I stood up and one of the employees asked me whatt I had ordered; turns out my food had been ready at least five minutes but they had just forgotten to so much as announce when it was ready. Ah well, forgivable. Unfortunately, though, once I took it back to my place to eat, I found it to be really, really oily. The ingredients and flavor were good, I just felt like I was eating a lot more oil than necessary.

I decided to try a different Thai restaurant that was closer to my hotel. I had their veggie egg…read morerolls and the massaman curry with tofu. The food was excellent. The spices were fresh and the food was not overly seasoned. The curry was delightful. The egg rolls very crispy and the veggies were not mushy. They didn't have Thai tea and were not sure what it was but besides that the food was wonderful. The atmosphere is a little more laid back then say Patara. It was more family like dining. I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. One last thought. The area surrounding Thai Lotus is like a warehouse district. So don't think your lost when searching for the restaurant.
