Very particular about my curry. Moved from California where they had the best green curry! Well Thai dee rod is just as good!

I found the food to be really good and so was the service. We were almost the only ones there so I can't really speak for the service on a busy night. I ordered the green curry which was delicious. It had a few more veggies then other green curry's I have had but I quite enjoyed the difference. My wife ordered the Pad Thai which she really liked. The only down side to this restaurant is the dilapidated building and dated interior. With that being said we will definitely be returning because the food was good enough to overshadow the establishment. read more

Delicious food. Great service. It is in an unassuming building on a busy road in Layton. But, it's probably one of the best restaurants in Davis County. I love their spring rolls and the drunken noodle dish. Their general appetizer plate is all delicious all the time. My husband likes their soups and stir fry dishes. This is a hidden gem, physical building is nothing to brag about (honestly I thought it was vacant when I first drove by). The main dining window/area that faces the street is never used so it looks empty from the street but the food is good, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. I really enjoy the pineapple curry with Chicken or the mixed vegetables; both are great. If your not sure of how spicy you like your food you can order it mild and ask them to bring you the spice tray so you can start light and add from there. I personally like the medium which can back a bit of a punch but that's personal taste. In short not much atmosphere, but good food, good service and fair priced. This place has the most amazing spring rolls. We've eaten at quite a few Thai places and by far the three dishes we ordered were spot on. The outside isn't much to look at but it's what is on the plate that counts and they nailed it. Definitely recommend if your in the mood for Thai. read more

We placed an order for pickup and our food was ready within 15 minutes. We chose this place because it was the closest to where we were staying in Utah, but it was just okay. My husband got the Chicken Pad Thai and I got he Chicken Pad Se Ew. We order the same dishes regularly at our local thai place in Idaho, but were somewhat disappointed with Thai Rod Dee. The chicken was a bit overcooked and rubbery, the noodles lacked flavor, and the portion sizes were meh. My wife and I finally visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants in the SLC Valley. I am usually disappointed. I travel the US, and know about and eat the best real traditional Thai food there is. I have my favorite places all over the country. I have very high standards for Thai Cuisine. When I came here, I was hoping, but not counting on great food. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! THE FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The food is what you would get from the best places in Thailand. They pay attention to the details! We were seated immediately. Our server was courteous, and friendly. The menu was simple, but had a lot of great choices. They had items that you just can't normally find at a American Thai Restaurant. The portion size was great! It was enough for a meal and a half per item, which is great for sharing! My wife and I both enjoyed our food so much that there were no leftovers however. I am really looking forward to going there again soon. read more

I tried Thai Rod Dee quite by accident only because I didn't want to drive to Salt Lake and I was hungry. On my first visit, I didn't know quite what to expect and I hadn't heard anything at all about Thai Rod Dee. Imagine my surprise when the food turned out to be the MOST AUTHENTIC Thai food I've eaten since leaving Thailand 30 years ago. Since I speak Thai I was able to talk with the Chef, who, by the way, doesn't speak English. She is from Korat, arguably the culinary center of Thailand and she, her daughter and her granddaughter make the food "Old School" Everything is from fresh ingredients. The curry, the noodles, the soups, Everything is just wonderful. If you are looking for excellent Thai Food, don't judge this book by it's cover. The food is FANTASTIC!! read more

Best Thai food I've found so far in Northern Utah. Heck, it's better than most of the Thai restaurants I used to visit near San Francisco. We like to get the sampler platter to get the variety of appetizers and the sauces (love the peanut sauce). We love the curries and all the other dishes we have tried so far. There a bit of a language barrier which honestly is fine but if that's bothers you that would be a concern. My SO and I ate at this restaurant ONCE about three years ago and didn't really like it. We thought we'd try it again because of their current rating and I have to say that we were EXTREMELY happy with what we received. My husband and I decided to try this charming looking restaurant hoping to find a hidden treasure, but instead having one of the worst experiences of my life. We ordered some pretty typical dishes that seemed safe at the time. The Pad Thai noodles and some chicken curry. While eating my food I noticed a strange feeling in my mouth and to my surprise pulled a black hair out of my mouth. At this point I am a bit disgusted and get my husband to alert the server. They take the dish away and say they will make another one right away. The new dish comes out and it seems fine until I see a dead fly floating at the edge of the curry dish. My husband and I are now to disgusted to eat another bite, so we pay the bill and leave shortly. I do not know what food service standards are being followed back in the kitchen but I will not be eating at this restaurant again. I wanted to give it a chance but just ended up disappointed. There is another Thai restaurant in Layton that we have always had an amazing experience at, and would highly recommend over this one. read more

Possibly the best curry I've tasted in Utah to date. The Ga Pow is also really good, especially medium spicy. I usually order the curries mild because most of the time they still end up being fairly spicy. So good. My favorite is the Mussaman curry, but I also like the Yellow, Panang and Red curries. Haven't tried the Green here yet. I will have to though. Their lunch special is a banging good deal. You get a choice of pretty much whatever you want on the menu with the exception of the salads in a lunch sized portion, with a crab cheese wonton, eggroll and chicken satay plus a drink. It's a lot of food. And it's delicious. The service staff is friendly and always smiling. Great place to go. read more
