WARNING CULT LIKE ATMOSPHERE, NARCISSISTIC OWNER AND RACIST THAT MAY CAUSE TRIGGERS. Don't be fooled by the beauty of this place surrounded by nature. What awaits for you during training will require debriefing and counselling after the course is done. Coming from another country for training anything can happen with travel plans, after a delayed flight I arrived an hour later for orientation, in which I was not greeted pleasantly, I was told I may not be allowed to enter the training class and may not be able to make up, they implied the training had started, only to discover it was only orientation, basically what time you get up, go to sleep, etc etc. So over embellishing, straight lying and implying that I was at a disadvantage was WARNING SIGN. 1. WARNING SIGN 2. in the shared kitchen everyone cooks and cleans up after themselves, discovering there was no pan scrubber requires pans to be soaked to ensure proper cleaning which is exactly what I did, only to be called out during break, on what person left a dirty pan in the sink, in which I acknowledge that once it was done soaking it will be cleaned and removed, unless you provide me with a scrubber, I was then publicly scolded, for a second I thought my mom had traveled with me. I took it with a grain of salt, made a mental note and kept it moving as my purpose there was just for a weekend course as others were there for a month. WARNING SIGN 3. If anyone is familiar with cult like practices, one of the practices is 'deprivation of sleep' after 14 hours of training, we were required to watch a video on healthy eating, in which everyone literally began to fall asleep, making whatever was to be learned from the video pointless, at the time I was nursing an old sprained ankle, which needed to be elevated after either sitting or standing for long periods of time. Now at hour 16, the trainer entered and immediately noticed my foot elevated and demanded I remove it from the chair, mumbling about Thai culture and showing someone your feet, I immediate said I will shift my seating but my foot will not be removed, we were then grilled on what we learned. Hour 17, I left and went to the dorm room with a sore back from sitting for hours in a poorly temperature controlled room that some how always was on overheat causing persons to leave training to get fresh air. WARNING SIGN 4. In addition to sleep deprivation there is withholding of food, after a long day and night, I intentionally woke up late with just enough time to shower, grab a bit and walk into training, then I was reminded of Karma Yoga, which I am aware of but failed to see how it fit into this setting. We were all adults, you make a mess where ever, clean it up.... so when I was approached by the trainers helper as to why I am eating breakfast and not helping I inquired as to what assistance was needed, it was stated that every morning mats and pillows need to be put out by EVERYONE. The way in which I was approached shocked me, a young lady decided to get square in my face and said I need to STOP eating and help NOW. This amused me where a child thought it was ok to speak to an adult in that manner. It was clear she was experiencing some emotional issues so I decided to play along, I told her when I was done eating I will assist, she then began shouting NOW NOW. You help now or I will report you. OKKKAAAY, at this time I decided to defuse her or at least I thought this would, I explained briefly and calmly that my health will take precedence over whatever is important to you, I will finish eating so I can take a pain pill to survive another 17 hour day, by this time I was done eating and ignored the tantrum, I guess the yogi in me was in full effect. I walked into the room grabbed exactly one pillow, because literally that was all that was required and dropped it into place. I was then called into the principals office. WARNING SIGN 5 ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. I entered the office of the owners in which I was immediately told I was misbehaving and not in compliance with the rules, they claimed I signed an agreement to 'serve' and abide by all request, I promptly stopped the grilling and informed them I signed no such agreement, in which they both stuttered and said well its on the website. I was then informed that I would be denied food, yes food I BOUGHT, because I did not comply with requests when asked. This conversation went on for half hour in which I was told they are NOT concerned about any health issues or injuries OF ME OR ANY STUDENT, my job is just to do 'anything' that is requested of me, either I act right and be a 'good girl' or I can leave. Here I am stuck in the woods, no transportation, cell phone isn't working and some crazy man who is clearly on drugs threatening my well being. Signed up for the Thai Yoga month long program in late 2015. Was offered a very generous reduced tuition scholarship for a month long workshop for only $505.00 + books, housing etc came to only $1700.00. The cost is what made it possible for me to attend. Almost to good to be true and the trust fears (triggers) really almost made me say "No" But instead they asked me if i would like to think on it for 48hrs. So glad i did not allow any of my personal issues (triggers) about accepting generosity from others, or the student community rules (posted on website), and can take personal responsibility for myself and my actions in a professional challenging program. Had a wonderful time! Excited to have Met new friends. Thankfully, my EGO did not get in the way of being able to be present to receive this amazing education from well trained happy Instructors. In class, we Learned much about Mind, Body and Spirit healing for ourselves and clients. Everyone Graduated successfully with a professional certificate of training and a plan of action for getting ourselves out there and help people. My currant Clients love that together we gain new health, and freedom from the suffering of body pain, EGO (false Mind) triggers and bad health like the food we eat, thoughts we think, people we hang with etc. Its all a reflection! If your concerned about making your money back? Well, since graduating in Nov 2015. Decided to apply the school business training taught by Aachan James for practitioners. Have earned back well over the $2500.00 that was spent on tuition, travel and setting up my new space, in my old office. What an amazing way to make a living and so less stressful. People want this type of healing for their lives. Training with Aachan James is not for the faint of heart as he trained during a time different In Thailand and he is very strict in class, and held students accountable for their own personal action while attending the program. Some Students in my class struggled with being on time from breaks, some did not know how to clean or why cleaning is important, most had trouble with not having a cell on them and checking, or being asked to get up at 7am and go to bed at 11pm. Yes, the days are long and hard its an Intensive Boot Camp training program. So is training to run a 10K which i did this last year too. Was sore, hunger, tired and always thinking about quitting everyday but got real with my self and completed that challenge, and won for me! Loved my experience at the Thai Yoga Center, so much that when students were asked to come back, and was offered another in class scholarship for continuing education. You bet I accepted on that day enrolled in the 1028hr Certified Teachers Program. Blessing to the oldest and best Thai Yoga Instructors in the USA of course IMHO! Please take note of all the reviews of this school, even the ones not recommended as I have realized a trend, the very first review of this school was negative, then persons associated with the school attempted to enter their own reviews. Fast forward to June 2016, 2 negative reviews were received followed closely by a slew of positive reviews once again by persons associated with this school. I also was a student in June 2016 along with the two other persons who gave negative reviews, both of their accounts of their experience are very accurate and true. I may also add that my experience at this school of Thai Yoga training was very unpleasant based on what I witnessed happening to both students who gave negative reviews. As my goal was to get in learn and get out I was not concerned with any other drama that occurred but now that I see it playing out online, I will take a step up and add to what is true. I was privy to a conversation that occurred with a guest that visited the school and stated their account of being greeted by two men who reeked of alcohol, this first negative impression for them was lasting. As the classes went on I too noticed the odor that the guest commented on, I thought this to be extremely disrespectful and unprofessional in a learning environment. As for the student who decided to mention the name of another student who allegedly left after one day and allegedly complained, (which did not occur) please note that all reviews are against or for the school, taking personal attacks against a student is uncalled for if you disagree with their review, this is a clear violation in Yelps privacy law. This particular session in June seemed to have multiple issues as 3 students left with similar complaints. I ask that anyone considering the school take heed to all the reviews even the ones not recommended. If you are into a "cult-like" atmosphere run by a controlling authoritarian couple then this is for you. Very unprofessional, unethical, oppressive, rigid, and not for anyone who is an independent sane person. After being in the class for 10 of the 30 days, I decided to leave. Working from 8am to 11pm, sometimes in horrific conditions, is not healthful. This is supposed to be a course in a health profession. The owner admitted he knows you better than you know yourself, doesn't care a rip about any health or physical issues you may have and forces his opinions upon you, and then demands you respect him. You are reminded daily he has 5 degrees of something or other blah blah blah vomit ad nauseam. The certification from this "college" is not worth the paper it is written on.
