I have been coming to this place for many years. I just realized I never left a review for here, so here you go! While it isn't the other touristy beaches, and a place where you're going to get some nice waves, shells, or sand dollars, it's still one of the best little places to hangout and catch some sun rays, dip your toes into the water, and watch the gorgeous sunsets that happen here. People come from all over for the sunsets alone. You won't be disappointed with the views, and the occasional dolphin jumps you'll see when the sun is setting. I love it here! Just $5 to park all day, let the kids play at the park, change in the nice booths for changing, use the restrooms and wash your hands, and use the outdoor shower to wash the sand and salt off your body before piling back up into the car. It's paradise for us locals.

My family and I love to go to this park when we visit our in-laws. It's such a calm beach, you can see dolphins sometimes and you can walk way out into the water. There are changing areas, bathrooms and a snack bar that has some decent selections. Great place for a picnic, bird watching and to see the sunset. Yesterday we went and the water was way up so not much beach was exposed and it was super windy but still a fun experience. We saw some kids using the sand boards and my son had fun jumping waves in the water.

Recently visited this park for a kids birthday party. They had booked a vacation rental right by the park. Gorgeous views. The parking fee is $5 for the whole day. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty crowded. But we could social distance. My friend said on week days it is less crowded. The water is pretty calm so you can kayak there. I also saw people fishing on the opposite side of the Pavillion. They do have signs of alligators in the water. Its FL! So what do you expect! The sunset was beautiful. The park is a little over 2 hrs from Orlando. If you wana getaway for a weekend, its a good spot.

The best place to catch a sunset!!!!! We stayed about 7 minutes away and went nightly to check it out. If you go after 445 (maybe earlier?) There is no fee to get in. We just walked and let the kids play! It is busy but not packed and everyone pretty much kept to themselves. I can't wait to return!

The water is tropical island clear !

When I first visited Spring Hill, this was a nice little oasis for me and family. We wanted to avoid the commute to the bigger crowded beaches like Clearwater Beach. This beach is about 35 minutes from my family's home in Brooksville. It features beach, park and picnic/bbq areas. The water is not far from parking, like many beaches. You can easily pull up and hop out with all your gear to get to the sand. No crazy hike involved. There's plenty for children and adults to do here. They have a adorable playground and volleyball area. We really enjoyed the fact that it's local and not congested. We were able to spend the earlier part of our day, bask in the sun, take a dip, play some volley ball and enjoy a picnic lunch. Recently, I tried to visit later in the afternoon (after 3:00 pm) and there was no available parking in the lot. A woman who was holding up a sign stating " lot full". Disappointed we drove 35 minutes back home. My best advice, is go early and leave happy. There are some great views here of the island. Ideal for picture taking and a day of family fun.

Fun in the sun at Pine Island Park! Small but nice beach and pier. Diamond in the rough family spot. Great getaway from the hectic, crowded beaches. Gorgeous Gulf views... sunsets are breathtaking. Lots of wildlife and natural settings. There's also several covered picnic tables with colorful fencing. Here you can spend the day - enjoy the water, playground for the kids, volleyball net and then take a break at the beachy grill for some refreshments and a snack! Clean facilities and a rinsing station for your tootsies!! They have a huge parking lot, welcome mobile homes - $5.00 parking to enter the park! What a deal!! We loved digging our toes in the sand and soaking in the sun at Pine Island!

Sunset

It is beautiful and peaceful. The ocean was shallow and during the sunset the water retreated at least 100 feet. The sunset was amazing!

$5 to get in, pretty cool place. A huge park for kids, nice sand, not many people. We will be back for sure!

Soooo where do I start. I gave it 2 because there were several people enjoying somehow this place was acceptable for them, so I have to accept that for some people this may be amazing. However if there is anyone out there looking to discover Florida Gulf Coast skip this place. Disappointed that not one person before rated this honestly. There may a tide factor (low tide) that made the water far worse, looked like nasty muddy beach . These seemed like a place where people came to just sit on the sand and watch the sunset. There is a little tiki food and drinks, they also had great reviews we did not try it. I have to say I am writing this because I need to share our disappointment and make others aware the other reviews are extremely deceiving.

I ended up at this place by accident because Weeki Wachee was filled for the day. I have very high standards for beaches and water quality so my review is a bit harsher than most. The beach sand is more like crushed shells and the sand in the water is more like mud. The water is clear for the most part and there is active sea life. I managed to see a pod of dolphins near the shallows where I was swimming. I would not have gotten in the water if I wasn't with someone else asking me to go. I was pleasantly surprised the water was very warm though. I do recommend checking the tide schedule before planning your trip because tide was very low and it was not too enjoyable with how shallow it was. This park and beach is also NOT dog friendly! Even on the leash. The parking is $5.00, which is very reasonable. You can tell that the park and beach utilizes the money well because it is very clean and well taken care of. There is a snack shack with seating that offers a variety of food and frozen lemonade if you get hungry or thirsty. There are also kayak rentals nearby. The kids' play area makes me jealous with how cool the pirate ship-shaped jungle gym in there! I will definitely be back to relax on the beach, I am just very snobby about my beaches!

Was told about this place by our waitress at the Cove Restaurant. It's was awesome. Glad she told us about it. We went here on12/30/2017. It was so incredible. Amazing. I walked all the way out because the tide was far out. The sky was just so gorgeous this day we went. I recommend this place for sure. They have food hut and kayaking, kids playground, beach, volleyball area with net and sand around and more activities. Good parking. To get in you have to pay $5. There is a gate and a person that collects the cash. Staff there was very friendly. This place was just perfect. We will definitely do it again. :) 100%. A+.

I really love this park!…read more I saw the signs for it & just decided to check it out as I love to visit the Nature parks. This park is exceptionally beautiful. It has an old vintage Florida feel with gorgeous old moss covered trees, kids play areas, an old vintage railroad, tons of biking & walking/hiking trails & a giant Lilly covered pond/lake. I had such a great time the first time I went. There was wildlife everywhere & I got to video some very friendly birds. I went back again & it was even more beautiful the second time, than the first time as it had just rained & all the flowers were blooming. They have a little garden there. It's just so precious. This place is so very beautiful. I keep finding all these different trails, they are obviously working on it & making it bigger with more trails. It's a very peaceful place, Like a forgotten tropical wilderness stuck in time. I have not seen more than 5 people here at once. I love all the Nature Parks for hiking but I have to admit. This one is very special & very unique. I can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

The entire park is nestled up against the beautiful water. Today the tress were green & a breeze cooled the temperature as the sun was shining bright. What a HAPPY place! There's a 24/7 boat ramp w/ trailer parking. (Boat launching/trailer parking is $5 daily.) This park is six acres on the Gulf of Mexico. According to the website, there are 1,900 feet of beach frontage, 200 feet of swimming area, & 290 feet of beach front w/ fishing access. There are picnic tables, charcoal grills, a pedestal shower, restrooms, water fountains, a bike rack, a playground for very young children, swings, & at least five pavilions. (One is two story, although the second story serves only as an observation deck.) Sam's on the Beach & Inn on the Gulf are located on the park grounds; there's a large parking lot that attempts to accommodate the park & the businesses. According to multiple articles, finding a parking space in the evening (pre pandemic) was a major challenge. Please see the park pics as I am unable to adequately capture this memorial park's beauty in words alone.

Tom Varn Park is about a mile from downtown Brooksville. The structures are largely made from wood, which gives it such a cool aesthetic. The park includes two sections inside a fenced in area. One works better for older kids and one for younger. The play areas include numerous slides and some climbing poles with passageways up, down, over and around them. There are some balancing areas and strength objects as well. In the older area of the park, there is also a series of half buried tires. These large tires provide a great challenge for your older kids (climb over them) as well as fun for the younger ones (tunnel through them). The park includes swings that are designed for younger kids (my three year old could enjoy them but he was getting close to being too large). I don't remember seeing swings that are designed for older kids (one of the knocks on the park). In the little kid area, there is a boat that sways back and forth with your movements as well as some additional slides and climbing areas. Outside of the fenced in area there is a large grassy section where kids could throw footballs, kick around soccer balls, or sit under a tree to picnic. There was a pavilion full of picnic tables that could be sat at as well as bathrooms. This area seemed to be in slightly poorer condition than the rest of the park. The bathrooms and picnic area also weren't as nice as other parks I've visited in the Tampa/Pasco region. To the right of the pavilion area was an area that included some electronic games (lights, dancing, shapes). There is a similar machine at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa. My kids and I didn't go into that section so I can't really speak about what shape the machine was in and how much fun it offered. Tom Varn Park has a lot to offer anyone who has kids that are into being active, playing and being outside. It seems to offer a lot of shade which would be beneficial during the hot Florida summer. If you find yourself in Brooksville with a couple kids in tow, try it out!
