Jessie is personable, has great attention to detail, and is very thorough. She provided great advice and tips when washing and styling my hair. She asked questions and listened to my likes at the beginning of our session, and she customized styling my hair based on my preferences. And for the first time ever, I actually liked how my hair was styled after my cut; I usually never do after a dry cut/curly cut because stylists usually put too heavy products in my hair which weighs it down. On 5/29/26, I dropped off my super curly haired teenager here so they could do some magic for $300. We showed photos of what he wanted. I told Melissa he's a high schooler and also needs a sustainable cut/style. I should have never walked away leaving my underage kid there. I was really counting on Melissa to figure out if the look he wanted was possible with his hair texture after she got in his hair. When my kiddo came out, he had a fro with undefined curls, I was shocked and I could tell that my son was not happy. He said he thought there would be further styling or cutting but that did not happen. My teen doesn't quite yet have his voice to speak up. Needless to say when we got home, he was in tears and he had to stay home instead of going to a dinner event. I called the salon the next day and spoke to Angie. I sent her the pictures of what he wanted and what he ended up with. She said they would find a solution immediately. However it's been over a week of text messages that have not been returned. None of my voice mails have been returned. I even walked in to the salon and Angie was out to lunch. I was told Nicole would call me back. That has not happened. I managed to talk to Angie and she promised she would talk to Nicole that day and get me a response. It's now been over 7 days and this has not been resolved. We walked away paying Melissa $345 including tip. And another $100 in products. Seems like we need a call back and definitely need a redo which they advertise as their policy if there is unsatisfactory service or a refund. I hope that if Melissa reads this or the owners, they might consider growing a conscience in the treatment we have received. read more

Wow this place exceeded my expectations! I had an amazing experience getting a curly cut and style with my stylist Alexis. Like a wise hair therapist, she carefully listened as I conveyed current issues I was having with my hair and current style. While not all of the issues could be addressed right away (some of the problem seems to be coming from sleeping with my hair wet, and getting it thinned out, whoops) I was so happy with how healthy my hair looked and felt afterwards. Not only that, but from the cut to the wash to the style, Alexis patiently talked me through every step so that I can take the education back with me for the day to day and then texted me her notes afterwards (because let's be real sometimes there's so much information, you can forget stuff). I came here for my first ever curly cut the other day. Alexis was my stylist and she was amazing (shoutout to Tati who was assisting and did amazing as well). The salon was super clean and everyone I met with was very friendly. Alexis and Tati were so good at teaching me everything they were doing and how to go about washing, conditioning and styling to get the best result. They showed me at each step so I could follow along and were so patient with answering all my questions. My hair looks amazing. I came here after being passed around or dismissed by the overpopulated salons that only know how to cut 1 type of hair, blonde, no texture and silky hair and always cutting it wet. My experience was excellent and do not regret spending a penny on my hair cut. I reviewed every stylist and realized that all are talented. I selected Annalisa after seeing several Instagram videos and something about her that I felt that she was it. She is wonderful, approachable, engaging, and excellent at educating the client on the do's and don't of curly hair. She treated me like a real person, did not shy away from my coarse thick hair. After so many bad cuts, I developed trauma and just wanted to stop cutting my hair. I felt comfortable with Annalisa and learned a few things about my hair. My teenage son is the only family member with very curly hair and none of us has really known how to manage it. His stylist, Berri, was amazing. She took the time to teach my son how to wash his hair, how to use product and how to dry it so he doesn't end up with frizzy hair. This was my first curly cut I've ever had in my life and it's also the first time I've ever left a salon feeling happy; which is monumental for me! Alexis was my stylist and she was so professional and thorough with each step, showing me how to care for my hair correctly when I go do it myself at home. Edit: I originally left 3 stars and wrote an honest review listing a lot of positives and the one big issue I had (as seen below) but after the response from the owner, I'm now leaving one star and will not be returning. The unprofessionalism and sarcasm by dusty is appalling. For dusty: Your name describes your character perfectly! Dusty! Notice how your response didn't address the issue at hand? You think she covered everything but NO ONE explained my hair to me or how to properly care for it which is the main reason we go to specialists. But I guess that's how you keep us coming back huh? I don't even blame the stylist, you must be where she got it from. What recommendations I did receive were made to me by an apprentice, not by the expert doing my cut. As for the color, those comments were again made by the woman who specializes in that, not by the expert doing my cut. Life happens, I was away from yelp for a long time. That said, I started having issues with my hair long before I decided to leave this review. Your attitude is straight up nasty. I initially wanted color along with my cut but a different woman (the one who specializes in that) had explained to me that I should wait since my hair had already been bleached and she didn't want to jeopardize its integrity. All of this is great!! I'm giving three stars because my hair and I are back struggling. I don't know the porosity of my hair, I don't know which products to use, I don't know what my hair NEEDS. I expressed my issues with my hair and asked what products I should be using during my appointment other than the innersense brand (because I have a lot of hair and although the brand is genuinely good, replacing the empty bottles adds up fast) but received nothing. I really wanted to love the experience. overall the salon felt off to me- extremely bright overhead lights, loud music, no water or magazines etc. I was physically uncomfortable in the chairs and with the stylists instructions for how to sit or place my head during different points of the visit. A two hour visit and no offer of water. In the end, have THE shortest haircut of my life that I dont believe I asked for. It's an okay cut but for 400 plus dollars-- to be disappointed and feel ugly stinks. read more

This review is for the salon and Melissa M! I never thought I would feel so EMPOWERED walking *into* a salon but that's exactly what happened. I have been hiding my natural texture my whole life, mostly unsure of how to embrace it. I spent decades and dollars damaging my hair with bleach and heat tools to straighten and then curl it in a very particular way...time and money spent trying to be happy with a style that wasn't actually ME. I'm now 52 and have noticed my hair shedding and realized that some of this probably due to perimenopause, the rest of it likely due to the process I put my hair through day every day. (I even had hair extensions earlier this year just trying to figure my sh*t out). I happened to meet Melissa at a friends house recently...not knowing what she does for a living, I sat next to her and commented on how beautiful her hair was! It is a very cute cut that works with her natural texture. On that day, I was wearing a WIG (I promise, it was a costume party...) but I described my hair and was able to book an appointment within a few days without her even seeing my real hair. I walked into the salon and looked around and was immediately inspired and felt so EMPOWERED to see so many beautiful curls, waves and natural hair. I knew immediately I was in the right place. I never knew a salon like this existed! Brown women, Black women, White women, Men, even a dog...beautiful People with natural hair and big smiles. Per their rules, I came in with dry, freshly washed hair, no product, no pony tail, no tools. It was a HOT ASS MESS! I brushed it straight out of the shower. I had no idea what I was doing was totally counter-intuitive. Melissa greeted me with her sweet & caring, creative energy and we looked at my previously terrible haircut and talked about my hair goals. Goals that are mine, for me, and not me trying to project something I am not or no longer wish to be. She cut my hair DRY, which was new to me. She didn't cut much. Just enough to get things even and and supportive for my texture (truly a science I've learned). THEN came the wash... this was a WHOLE new process. She had me hold a mirror and watch as she described how to wash, condition and treat my hair. Life changing. NO BRUSHES. NO TOOLS. JUST ME and a few amazing organic products which are optional but really help a ton...be gentle. very gentle. be kind to your hair. that's what I learned. So I walked out feeling light and more myself than I have in a very long time. The real me. She's here....woot! While I still want to cover my gray at the root (I'm not ready for that yet) the amount of money I have spent in the past changing my hair away from what I actually have, my real hair, my authentic self is mind-boggling. While a curly cut at a specialist may seem pricey, I remember that the end goal is to embrace what I actually have and with that actually comes less long term maintenance. it just takes some gentle kindness to your hair.
