Sophia is my faveeee!! she's done my color for the last couple of years and nevvvvvver disappoints!! The first few times she did my balayage and it turned out perfect after becoming obsessed with being a blonde, I asked her to give me an all over bleach and tone and it was exactly what I wanted. She took her time and patience to make sure that my hair was going to be exactly what I wanted, and that the tone was spot on! I've never been so blonde in my life, and she made it look perfect! I've received so many compliments on my hair color, can't wait to get my hair done again! It's also a huge plus that she's the sweetest, and talking to her while getting my hair done is the best! It's one thing to love the final product of your hair service, but when you find someone you connect with, it's an all over amazing experience!! 100% recommend Sophia!!!

She's helped change my color, going from regular black to a subtle dark chocolate balayage with caramel lowlights, making it look still super natural and very pretty (thankfully just in time for graduation pictures). I love how she knows exactly what color and tone best fits my hair & is always able to deliver. She's also helped trim my dead ends and thinned out my hair to make it feel super light. I came to her after my hair got dyed by another hair stylist - it was a bad decision to trust a different stylist, and I wish I came to Sophia first!! I came to Sophia with my hair orange/brassy and not blended from a previous hair stylist. I have super difficult hair to work with, bc of my thick and damaged hair. I've had horrible experiences in the past with bleaching my hair (can't get away from brassy tones!) but the exp with Sophia isn't one of them. She was friendly and meticulous, and super patient with every strand of my thick hair. I went in not 100% sure what I wanted, but she was professional about what would work well with my skin tone and vibe. So so so happy with the result, and will be going back to her for toning and further lightening in the future! read more

What a breath of FRESH AIR Sophia is!! After years of trying to find the right hair colorist and ended up with either damaged hair, a color that I wasn't looking for, needing to go back several times for corrections, etc. Sophia has solved all my hair woes. Sophia is a professional on all accounts. She will communicate with you before your appointment to make sure you and her are on the same page and all expectations are understood before you arrive. She is incredibly detail oriented and with such ease that I feel so comfortable sitting in her chair. She has taken my hair from black to blonde while maintaining the integrity of it, and has put the health of my hair first (despite me wanting to go platinum blonde immediately!) Sophia is awesome! I should've gone to her first for my hair but I unfortunately didn't and was left with highlights that I had not asked for. I was not happy with my hair. I shared my concerns with her saying I never wanted to dye my hair again and was afraid to damage it even more she was very positive in saying there was hope for it and I could get the look I was definitely going for in the beginning. I came to The Maya Salon for a last-minute trim. After calling several salons trying to get a last…read moreminute appointment, this was the only place that had an opening. Finding the salon was easy and there was parking right out front, which made it even better. I stay in South Pasadena on weekends at my boyfriend's house, so I decided to give it a try. EJ was incredibly kind and welcoming. I arrived a few minutes early while he was finishing with another client, and he saw me right at my appointment time. He also offered drinks and snacks, which I really appreciated because I definitely needed the caffeine boost that day. He washed my hair and gave me the trim I desperately needed, removing all my split ends while still keeping my hair long just like I asked. I'm always nervous about losing too much length, but he really listened and delivered exactly what I wanted. His station was also very cute and calming, with plants around the mirror and a dream catcher. I deal with anxiety, so I really appreciated his relaxing energy during the appointment. I usually get my trims done in Beverly Hills with my longtime stylist, and I was pleasantly surprised that the price here was about the same -- $120, which is pretty standard for a good trim in Beverly Hills as well. Since I happened to be in the area, I thought "why not?" and I'm really glad I did because it turned out to be such a pleasant experience.

I had an idea of what I wanted, and he was able to take that and give me a more elevated version of it. He definitely understood the assignment! I already got a lot of positive compliments on the new haircut. During the haircut, Vanilla took me over to the high-tech massage chairs. It was so nice laying there while getting my head massaged and shampooed; I think I actually fell asleep. I left feeling relaxed and recharged. It still feels too good to be true, but I was reassured that the massage and wine will always be complimentary. There were no extra charges. The salon also has their own parking lot, though I was able to park on the streets without any issues.

When my kiddo came out, he had a fro with undefined curls, I was shocked and I could tell that my son was not happy. He said he thought there would be further styling or cutting but that did not happen. My teen doesn't quite yet have his voice to speak up. Needless to say when we got home, he was in tears and he had to stay home instead of going to a dinner event. I called the salon the next day and spoke to Angie. I sent her the pictures of what he wanted and what he ended up with. She said they would find a solution immediately. However it's been over a week of text messages that have not been returned. None of my voice mails have been returned. I even walked in to the salon and Angie was out to lunch. I was told Nicole would call me back. That has not happened. I managed to talk to Angie and she promised she would talk to Nicole that day and get me a response. It's now been over 7 days and this has not been resolved. We walked away paying Melissa $345 including tip. And another $100 in products. Seems like we need a call back and definitely need a redo which they advertise as their policy if there is unsatisfactory service or a refund. I hope that if Melissa reads this or the owners, they might consider growing a conscience in the treatment we have received.
