I am a long-term wearer (10+ years) of multi focal specialty contact lens. Initially, it took…read moreseveral appointments and many, many contacts to find the right fit, but my previous optometrist was a rock star at working though this process. And there was no upchage for this service. I recently moved to Baldwin county and needed to replace the contacts. So in doing my research for someone specializing in these types of contacts, I found Dr. Ferris-Metzger at Premier Medical in Daphne. The appointment went well and I provided Dr Ferris-Metzger with my previous contact vials which has all the measurements and sizing for the fit of the specialty lenses. I just needed to know if any of my distance / up close vision had changed and check the health of my eyes. Fast forward 4 weeks to when the lenses arrived and I get an invoice for 3x what Ive historically paid for the lenses (they are sold as 2 pairs to change out after 6 months of wear). I thought there has to be a mistake... the wrong type of lens was ordered or the technician wrongly ordered "2" sets (meaning 4 pair). I communicated my concerns with Dr Ferris-Metzger's technician and her response basically explaining to me how the lenses work, how they are sold and that this was the price. No new information to me and no answers to the questions I had proposed. At this point, I contacted my previous optometrist 4 hours away, to inquire about any price increases. They confirmed the price was what I'd paid previously (which was $600 less than Premier Medical) After that, I tried calling a business manager and was put in touch with the contact lens person. This went the same way as the previous conversations. No one appears to be interested in my honest attempt to understand the price difference at this place. And to add insult to injury, Dr Ferris-Metger had the contact lens associate inform me that I would be charged a contact fitting fee of $40 which I would have to pay before she would release my prescription (yes I asked for it as a matter of principle). If you will see above, there was basically no "contact fitting" because I provided my previous measurements. I now have an appointment with an optometrist in Fairhope. Their office confirmed that the price of the lens will be what I'm used to paying ($700) and I'll pay for another exam. But I don't think I have a choice. And yes, I absolutely love these lenses and understand that they are a premium product. But charging $600 more for the same lens I can purchase down the street is insane. Bottom line -- buyer beware.

I moved on from them. The lady that is responsible for prescriptions and lenses NEVER returns…read morecalls. I tried for two months to obtain my prescription with no luck. I even spoke to the "manager" who was supposed to call me back with my prescription, which she did not.

I had sinus surgery, performed by Dr. Harrison, just recently. If you are considering using him…read morefor this procedure, I should warn you ahead of time. To begin with, don't expect a good bedside manner from him. After seeing him a total of 4 times, the fifth time I went to see him, he couldn't even remember when I had surgery or what I was allergic to - I guess because he couldn't bother to look at my chart before he entered the room. Instead, I had to answer the same questions I had answered every other time I had seen him. Don't expect him to be honest about what to expect from this procedure, either. He told me I would be "uncomfortable" for 3 days after the surgery, and then I would be fine. That was not true. When I was being wheeled in to the operating room, one of the nurses told my husband it was one of the most painful surgeries around, and she wasn't fibbing. He will not give you any indication of what to expect while recovering, either. You will be spending lots of time rinsing your sinuses, using nasal saline, and taking other medications. Neither he or his staff will prepare you for all the aftercare procedures. He also has a bad habit of expecting you to read his mind. For instance, the paperwork he sent home with us said to rinse my sinuses at least twice a day. So, I did it three times a day. When I returned for my first visit after surgery, he accused my husband and I of lying - that I had not been rinsing. When we insisted I had, 3 times a day, he proceeded to inform us that that wasn't enough - we should have been doing it much more often - 6 or 8 times a day! I guess telling us late is better than not telling us at all. Also, I would avoid having the surgery on Friday. He has his practice take his calls on the weekends, and they don't have a clue. I'm giving him 2 stars instead of one because I think his surgical skills are good. The rest, however, needs improvement.
