It's unfortunate that mounts is located right by the airport with many planes and helicopters flying overhead, sort of takes you out of the tranquil ambience but my fiance seemed to appreciate the unexpected airshow. The flora and fauna of mounts is extremely varied and we discovered some new plants we'd never heard or seen before. The natural beauty was also very picturesque and we snapped so many good close ups of flowers butterflies, trees and even koi fish! I would recommend packing a lunch and some waters as they have stone benches and tables for sitting in many hideaway areas of mouths.

The city of Delray Beach holiday parade is this evening down Atlantic Ave. It starts at the…read moreIntracoastal Waterway at 6PM and travels west ending at W 5th Ave. The theme this year is Frosty and hometown hero and tennis prodigy Coco Gauff was Grand Marshall. The parade includes 70 floats, local politicians, bands, dancers, sports leagues, clubs, civic groups, businesses, and first responders. The best grand float, non-profit, dance/cheer group, business/commercial, and marching band receive awards.. The parade ends with Santa Claus on top of the Deerfield Beach fire truck. I really love seeing the hard working kids in bands and dance groups. They have to walk so far and they kept the energy up and the crowd entertained until the end. Delray Beach has such great Christmas spirit. They host this parade along with the boat parade last night and the 100 foot Christmas Tree in Old School Square. They really know how to make it feel like the holidays with free family friendly events.

We saw about 35 decorated boats head south past us for 45 minutes. The Boynton Beach holiday boat parade is held annually on the second Friday in December from 630 until 830. The parade features festively decorated boats, this is the premier holiday attraction along the intercoastal. It's a partnership with the towns of Hypoluxo, Boynton Beach, Lantana and Delray Beavh. a combination of privately owned and commercial vessels are decked out with dazzling lights, holiday decor, costumed captains, and lots of music, they travel along the intercostal waterfront. There are lots of parks and restaurants along the route to watch the festivities. Many of the intercoastal bridges will remain upright when the boat parade passes through the area. At 6:30 the parade formed at the Ocean Ave., Bridge in Lantana near the old Keylime House. The boats passed by the Boynton Beach waterfront, Delray, and ended on Linton Boulevard. Prized were awarded for the most creative boats in three different size categories. Initially, Toys for tots were collected .

We've taken a table at this indoor garage market at the expo center for several years. It's not…read morejust once a year (annual) anymore as this year alone there have been 3 sales, so far. Held in either the Expo West or Expo East -- or both as they connect --depending on how many folks sign up to exhibit/sell. Vendors tend to be a mix of antique dealers, homeowners, store/former store owners, and people who do the flea market circuit on a regular basis. There are all sorts of items sold here from furniture to clothes to housewares -- some new -- including crafts -- and a lot used or vintage. You never know what you'll find. This past weekend there were even folks selling Christmas ornaments, fine china dining sets, musical instruments, and large ceramic statues. Held on a Saturday, gates open to the early bird public buyers at 7 am for $7 and at 8 am for regular hours for $6 which means until 2 pm. Vendors must keep their booths open until 2 pm. Parking is ample and the Expo is easily accessed in the fairgrounds just off Southern Boulevard. If you like a bargain or just to browse, put on your comfortable shoes and spend a fun day. PS Bring cash as most vendors prefer to take this method of payment. There is an ATM machine on site by the concession stand. Food at the concession stand is a bit expensive. Some of the dedicated visitors come for a bit; Get a new ticket to reenter and go out for lunch and come back. There are restrooms near the concession stand, as well.

It is the perfect place to bring a family of all ages or friends looking to start their Halloween season of dress up and adult beverages. The CRA of Boynton Beach makes this event bigger and better every year. The weather was very hot and there needed to be more cool off areas. The food area was well set up but I thought the vendors didn't have enough variety on their menu but what they were serving was delicious or looked delicious. I can't wait until they Piratefest comes back next year.

I especially enjoyed the South Beach surfing section. I could not find my face though in the historic photo of beach goers and surfers. You will enjoy!

This new museum had its grand opening last Saturday, May 2nd. It's located in a shopping plaza on…read morethe west side of Dixie Highway just past the Institute of Beauty. It is the largest surfing museum in the east coast and the "second best surfing museum in the world" per Tom Warnke (see photo), the Executive Director. There are surfboards, photos, awards, and articles chronicling the history and culture of surfing in Florida -- and featuring Palm Beach. But other areas of Florida are highlighted as well in their own sections. Loved seeing the oldest known photo of surfing in Florida from 1919 (behind the Breakers) and a fully restored balsa wood surfboard -- which they think is the oldest surf board in Palm Beach County. Most of the items in the museum were donated. And most of the folks working are volunteers. Although admission is free, there is an opportunity to make a donation. While there, we got into a lovely discussion with a man who surfed along the Florida coast from Miami to Stuart. My husband and he shared a few South Beach surfing stories. This will be a popular tourist attraction -- not only to locals, but to visitors as well. It's a unique venue.
