The people that run this rescue are amazing, have hearts of gold.... and have only one motive~ to save precious souls that are discarded like an old appliance or worn out piece of furniture! I have nothing but praise and the utmost respect for this particular rescue and would never hesitate to recommend them..... They run soley on donations... so if you would like a worthwhile charitiable place to place your hard earned money into- they will put it to wonderful use and you will know that it is money well spent!!! This team runs like a "well-oiled machine"!!!!

In the end one of…read morethe dogs I tried to adopt was harmed, in addition to me and my son because of how they mishandled everything. It was only 48 hours before getting this dog that the foster parent, not the rescue, informed me she had a prolapse rectum. The shelter didn't even know. Outside of being told she had a small cataract in her left eye, was told nothing else was wrong. In fact, the owner said she was "perfect.". This dog had dental disease, severe scarring in both ears and eyes to where she had limited vision and hearing. She was not potty trained at all. She was also severely underweight and could not handle a walk more than about four houses down my street. I agreed to take her with the understanding she would get the prolapse surgery after I got her, paid for by the shelter. The owner continued to disagree with every vet that saw her to talk about the surgery. No vet wanted to operate on her because she was malnourished and it was unclear why she was not able to gain any weight. All three vets said she should go on a hydrolyzed protein diet. The owner of the shelter refused stating the only food I could feed her was farmers dog. Finally after two months, the owner said I could put her on hydrolyzed protein food and she started gaining some weight. She had to get an ultrasound before the hospital would agree to do the surgery at that point. It took six weeks for the shelter to connect with the hospital that did the ultrasound to talk about next steps for the surgery. By that point I had had this dog for over three months and was dealing with all of the stuff I mentioned above. Because of all that at some point, I decided I could not do it anymore. It was a very painful decision to make and the shelter, made it extremely hard for me in the end. They were difficult to communicate with. I agreed to just fly her back to LA myself and the plan then changed three different times. They said they would come get her on a certain day, then changed it to another day then I said I would just bring her like I had planned then they asked me to keep her until they could find a place for her even though they said they had a place for her to go. Long story short it was extremely hard. I will put pictures of the texts from the owner in the end, who told me to literally stop complaining. The amount of time and money I spent out of my own pocket on this dog was significant. I thought at least an apology would be given, when I asked for one, the worker at the shelter stayed silent on the phone. And then the owner told me to stop complaining as you can see in the text photos. I share this to warn other people about what you might go through if you try to adopt a dog through them.

I was ready to adopt Eloise to you. It is the neighborhood that concerns me. My rescue friend adopted a dog to someone who paid a lot of money ($450) for the dog in the same neighborhood. The dog was hit by a car and dumped at North Central Shelter. My rescue friend got the dog back and had to pay a lot of medical bills as he had a broken leg. After I left, there was a chihuahua with out any collar walking down the street. I mention that the final adoption is determined on the home check as photos let me know if we should continue on. I feel that you would be great adopters, but I will not adopt to the neighborhood.." The owner Jasmin seemed more interested in interrogating my personal life asking about my relationship status/future possible marriage plans (Seriously?), rather than informing me about the puppy's needs. Not to mention she was so keen on selling her "only sold in England" products to people. I tried to hide my disgust since the other ladies were very nice. So today I decided to write a review to save some of you from disappointment. Had I read these reviews prior to sending my adoption application and attending the meet/greet I would've avoided this scam entirely! So this past Saturday Claims: 1) Want what is "best" for the puppy 2) Told that they wanted to consider all applicants thoroughly (since there were a few others). And since Jasmin's birthday was on Monday, she wouldn't review any applicants until Tuesday/Wednesday. She made that clear by saying that twice. So I felt reassured. Reality: 1) Who is willing to offer "pay" the most for this puppy? 2) Puppy was apparently adopted on Sunday. Period. I would never recommend them to anyone who is looking to adopt.

My kitten's foster let me spend an hour with her to give her time to warm up to me, which shows how much they care about finding the right home for their animals. After adoption, Tales of the Paw also arranged for a consult session with a cat behaviorist, which I thought was very unique and made us feel extra supported. I'm so grateful that Tales of the Paw took in Mochi when she was a sick 4-week-old kitten and raised her into a confident and loving kitty who has stolen our hearts!

A couple hours later, dead. 4 days later, another sparrow, the same thing. We left it alone, but kept an eye on it and called Animal Control, which directed(via automated system) to WVAS. I called and after a hold of about 10 minutes, an officer answered & I explained our concern. She told me we are welcome to bring any injured or wild animal we can safely gather and bring in 24/7. She suggested boxing the bird and bringing it in. We did. 15 minutes later, walking in and seeing the same officer I spoke with. Another employee took the box and went straight to the on-sight vet. While she input our name, address & contact #, I mentioned again that this was the 2nd bird in a few days and asked if we should be concerned or notify anyone else. She said no, the vet will see if they can do anything, if it survives it goes to a bird rehab facility for further monitoring, then eventual release. If it doesn't get better, not, then it's euthanized. I was wondering if the bird gets a autopsy to see what killed it. She said no. She then generated an impound code, in case we wanted to check for updates. We thanked her and left, feeling bad for the bird. When we got home - ANOTHER BIRD! This one in our driveway, just staring at our stucco wall. Grabbed a box & gloves, and back to the shelter we went. When we came in this time, she wasn't there, but the other worker who took the first bird back to the vet was. He took the box and away he went again. He returned to update our intake for the 2nd bird. He then told us that the first bird had died and it looked like the 2nd one was now dead. We again voiced our concern that now 3 birds within 4 days were found in very poor condition. Since we don't work in this field, we asked if this is a concern for them. He just stared at the motor and shook his head 'no,' then said he had all the info they needed and the impound code would be the same. We left hoping to not have to go back and we still don't know why this happened. As of today, no further birds found. We also haven't seen any alerts about bird diseases in our area, which is information the LA County Dept. of Health monitors and shares via their website, but it's good to know that we have this facility in the SFV where we can take a wild animal we may find injured or in poor health. After hours, there is a door bell to the right of the main entrance. Someone is always there to accept animals. Cheers! "CC"

My experience at West Valley Animal Shelter was extremely disappointing…read more On July 28, 2026, I accompanied a couple who had driven approximately 4 hours to adopt a kitten that had recently been removed from the euthanasia list. I was there as a representative of Purrrfect Rescues (a nonprofit) to help coordinate transportation and assist with the adoption process. Unfortunately, the experience quickly became frustrating. An employee named "Delfina" began yelling at me Becuase she wanted to speak with the adopters privately, instead of asking me to give them a moment she decided to escalate the situation and yell at me,I was excluded from the adoption conversation despite being involved in coordinating the adoption, leaving me without important information about changes to the plan. Communication from staff was inconsistent, and the adopters were later told they would need to make an additional round trip to pick up the kitten because he was under the required weight for neutering, then return again once he reached 2 pounds. This was different from what we had initially understood and created unnecessary inconvenience for a family that had already traveled several hours. The staff member we interacted with, Delfina, was discourteous and unprofessional throughout all interactions. Afterward, I learned she allegedly made comments about me to the adopters rather than addressing any concerns with me directly. The overall experience left the adopters feeling so uncomfortable that they ultimately decided not to proceed with the adoption! To make matters worse, when I asked for a supervisor's contact information so I could voice my concerns, I was refused direct contact information and was given a phone number and email address that did not work. I was also told a supervisor would be available the next day, only to later be told that was not the case. I appreciate the difficult work that animal shelter VOLUNTEERS do every day, and I am grateful that this kitten was removed from the euthanasia list. However, saving animals doesn't end there. Shelters should also make the adoption process welcoming, transparent, and supportive for responsible adopters. In this case, the process became unnecessarily complicated, and a kitten ultimately lost what could have been a loving home. I sincerely hope management reviews this incident and takes steps to improve communication, professionalism, and customer service so future adopters and rescue partners have a better experience.

It took him awhile to adjust, and myself awhile to adapt the house for him so he would be safe. Thanks so much to Manuel, who put up with me picking up Shammy-Nalu at odd hours; hugs to Mary who took a special interest in my dog for all the years he was there; and to Maggie who responded when I needed her. I…read morehad applied for dogs at several other orgs and not heard back (or, sadly, even kind of been given the runaround by one). Pet Adoption Fund was responsive, organized, and thorough. They follow best practices of an animal rescue for properly evaluating adopters, which means you will fill out forms, have a meeting with them and the pet, and have a home visit. This is all to ensure the welfare of the pet, and I am happy to oblige. In the end, the process worked very efficiently, and I got my new best friend, who had received great veterinary care from them. And got a bath before coming home. :) Also, they followed Covid protocols with masks, etc, which made me feel good. I dealt with several different people at this organization, and every one was committed, pleasant, and professional. I'm hugely grateful for their work!

I walked in, filled out the form, and waited for about 20 mins with no appt. The girls that helped me out were so sweet and helpful. They took Apple Pay as a form of payment which was super convenient. The waiting area itself is kind of small, but they having some seating outside as well. The parking here gets packed as well. I had to park on the street and walk about to 2 mins to get there, so it wasn't anything crazy. Overall, great experience! I've been recommending this place to everyone lately.

Kind of disorganized since people didnt really line-up like instructed, and staff member wasnt keeping track of who came first. So I would recommend, if you can, going with someone so that one of you can get the form to fill out and the other can hold your pet. Just from experience, since mine was too anxious to get close and then some people didnt leash their dogs/kitties. But I came and received my pups low cost vaccines and the vet(vet tech?) was super gentle with her. Pretty much took only 45 minutes. And I received my booklet and receipt of the services I took. They accepted cash and credit card. Please note, credit card use has an additional charge.
