The rental home was very outdated and needed renovation but upon leaving the rental, Nixon removed $1,100.00 from the security deposit without any communication or explanation why they would need to remove this amount of money. They removed $350.00 for a cleaning service to clean the unit when vacant when the unit was left very clean, and undamaged in any way. I had already hired a professional cleaning company in Fredericksburg to do a final cleaning and we had already left the unit cleaned beyond a condition that the Texas law stipulates it is to be left in to receive the return of the whole security deposit. Nixon removed $750.00 to pay for painters to come in and fill nail holes in the walls and paint over where pictures had been hung. Texas law states that a tenant is allowed to "make the rental a home" and that includes hanging pictures on the walls. It is the management's responsibility to repaint when needed after a tenant leaves, not the tenant. The law states that it is acceptable for tenants to live in a rental and that there be "normal wear and tear" of occupancy but not damage. The property was left clean and no damage and a professional cleaning completed. That makes two professional cleanings on this unit! I contacted Nixon Real Estate and I was sent a list of issues they decided I would pay for from the security deposit: One smudge on the hardwood floor, a drip on the top of a vanity drawer, a drip on a door, a spider web in entryway, all baseboards in unit to be cleaned, the refrigerator to be pulled out and wall behind it and floor under it to be cleaned, the dryer filter to be removed and cleaned. Nixon directed their cleaning company to use a magic eraser to clean where necessary. I sent Nixon a mailing reciting Texas law and challenging their removal of $1,100 from the security deposit and requesting it back but they refused to acknowledge it. They have a pattern of taking money from security deposits that they should not be removing.

We talked for almost an hour about all things Fredericksburg. The store has a generally upscale inventory, some would say eccentric... but there's something for everyone there! Many little gift items, knick knacks, home decor furnishings, etc. Many very unique items, including a huge antler chandelier! LOL The outside looks like a collection of metal yard art, but go inside, it's amazing. So fun just to walk around and see the little things! A highly recommended stop if you're looking for an hour of fun in Fredericksburg!

I had a bad experience with this company from start to finish. They agreed to use my left over…read morerings, rod and fabric from a job I had done myself. I waited around one month for my drapes but never heard from them so I called them to be told that they were not ready but should be ready in a couple of weeks. But, she said, you have to add the time it takes for them to get here and we have to wait until one of our staff has time to install them. I wasn't too happy about the length of time this was taking because the window they were going on had sun on them all afternoon and would fade the new furniture and linens. When 2 ladies finally arrived to install my drapes they came to the conclusion that they were 4" too high. I told them I was upset with this and one of the ladies said "well, we were doing you a favor by using your fabric and rods to save you money. Her tone was accusatory .Her answer should have been. "We are sorry for this mistake, we will rectify it as soon as possible". The ladies said they had a local lady who could correct the problem and she is very fast. I thought they meant within 3-4 days. Nope. It was 1-1/2 weeks. When they came back to install the drapes for a second time I told them I was not very happy with the whole experience and they still didn't say sorry. In fact when they had finished they just picked up their tools and left in an unlike business manner. This next thing really made me angry. On the bill I got they stated: 1. Additional materials bought to be able to use customers own rod. My rod they installed is exactly the same as it was the day I bought it and is hanging on my window so I have no idea what they are talking about. 2' Alterations needed due to customer having wrong size rings causing measurements to be inaccurate. The rings are the same ones I had the day I bought them. 3, Extra trip charge due to customer not having enough of the correct size rings, Yes, I didn't have enough of the rings and I told the ladies that and I went to Home Depot and purchased 2 boxes of them, That was a round trip of 48 miles for me, NOT FOR THEM, and I have the receipt to prove it. The old ones I had and the new ones I purchased were both the same size. ALL IN ALL I ADVISE YOU ALL TO STAY AWAY FROM INSIDE STORY AND THEIR RUDE ASSISTANTS WHO MAKE LIFE UNPLEASANT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS

They never finished and the work they did was sub-par (to say the least). A roof that never leaked was removed in the process and it has leaked ever since (damaging interior sheetrock and growing mold, of course). I can't even fix the damage until someone figures out the roof issue. Naturally, they stopped trying and so I stopped paying. This ordeal has cost me unplanned interest expense and repairs and led to an inability to lease space (hard to do if you can't tell people when the space will be ready). A terrible experience overall. Always nice too when a contractor tries to blame the customer for problems...it wasn't me that didn't show up for weeks at a time and I sure didn't make the roof leak!
