Have been coming to the Third rail bar for years when living in Bellmore. They are well known for their burgers. Monday night is half off burger night. For a local bar they put out one of the better burgers. I highly recommend the Peter Luger Burger. I came in to get a burger on a Thursday at 6:30. The place isn't crowded at all, and I had 45 min tops. I was seated promptly, and then after waiting almost 20 min not a single person has come to take a drink or food order. I'm literally sitting here writing this watching everyone get service beside me, staring at the bartender and the "host" who's just standing there a couple feet away. I'm walking out. This is nonsense. I can't waste my time if they won't even acknowledge me. Damn, it looked half decent too. Won't come back, clearly it's locals only. read more

Such an under rated place. Reasons why you should stop in if you haven't in a while: - They have not jacked up their prices - I can guarantee this is "eating" (lol) into their bottom line. Came out here to handle some things at Harley/Triumph so we decided to grab a bite somewhere close. We came upon this bar. It was nice because it wasn't packed. It was still early afternoon so there were ample seats to dine in. We ordered: - mild bone-in wings - sesame chicken bites: bite sized, lightly fried, and tossed in Thai chili sauce - 3rd rail tidbits Steak: smothered in mozzarella on a toasted garlic hero. Served with french fries and bbq dipping sauce. All the food was AMAZING. Going into a bar, I wasn't expecting much. I was surprised at how good the food was! Went here the other day with a friend. Very typical bar/pub. It was early in the week, and the place was not packed, but there were patrons there. Our waitress was overwhelmed because she was the only one working, so the service was a little off and slow. We kind of felt bad. We got the Reuben Eggrolls, Pulled Pork Nachos, and a Chicken Caesar salad. The Eggrolls were really good. The nachos were okay. They didn't have any nacho cheese sauce, and the shredded cheese wasn't melted enough. The pulled pork was delicious. The salad didn't have any chicken on it, but we ate it anyway. It was good. They had no beer list, just a list of signature cocktails. If I wanted beer, I had to ask or go up to the bar and look. There were tv's with different sports games on which was good. Burgers are off the chart. Loved the Peter Lugar burger. Cooked perfectly. Baked clams are the only ones I have found that resemble mine. They were not full of bread. So flavorful. Great selection of cocktails and trending beer selection. Best thing about our experience was the customer service, gratitude, smile, of Kaitlin! She was warm and welcoming! Came for karaoke night, for which they advertise a $3 domestic draft beer special. Well either they didn't alert the bartenders to this pricing alteration, or Coors Light has moved to a bottling plant outside of the U.S. Not cool guys. But oh well, I still like the food and the karaoke is a good thing to have. 7/22/18 Mets vs. Yankees turned out to be a rainout, but I couldn't deny myself some yummy sports bar eating. I skipped the popcorn at the movies because I'd rather get my calories here: my favorite, giant pretzel with beer cheese (without the game to entertain me, I almost skipped this treat) and the Sesame Thai Chili Chicken bites made a great combination. Solid spot for a nice burger and quench your thirst. Our group of 6 popped in around 7:30pm a few Fridays ago. It was busy (thanks to the HH crowd) but there were a few tables available and we were seated right away. Once the lingering HH crowd departed, it got very easy to get a table. The manager came by to bring over a couple of more chairs as we started out as a party of 4 and the high top table was not intended to have seats on the end and crowd the floor where servers and customers had to walk by. Still, he was nice about it and made sure we were comfortable and that no one had to stand. We appreciated that. Our server was bubbly and friendly and was good with suggesting what to get (or to not). I settled on the Peter Luger burger which was cooked to a solid medium and which pummeled my appetite. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy what they ordered. Prices are decent. Parking just across the way, although was pretty filled up at the time of our arrival. I love this place! Great to watch islanders games. Great food; Bailey and Ashley are awesome bartenders, the male bartender insists on closing the bar early (12ish). Seems like a poor choice as they could make way more money... Chicken sandwich is one of the best I've had, great special nights, just need to find out who is bartending that night... Third rail is literally on the rail lol. You can hear the trains whizzing by as you eat. Nice spot to go to right off the train or if your a local. Food is above average bar food and ive never had a bad meal. This time we started with the large pretzel which was nice and fresh. Plenty for two to split. For my meal I got the balsamic chicken wrap with bree cheese and sundried tomatos. Was very good and the perfect size. Wasnt huge though so id go with something else if your a big eatter. My buddy got the rail burger which was huge. He said it was cooked well and was served on a nice fresh everything bun. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Wow guys, completely unbelievable. I don't know your name other than you're likely Jim's wife and Jim Jr's mom and own the place, but you have no idea how to treat your customers. Enjoy offering free stuff to all of your personal friends and then offering your table, after we had been waiting for an hour and told we could sit there, to your friends that just walked in. You were clueless to the fact that we had been waiting for an hour and WE were who the host was looking for a table for. Reservations for 6 or more, yet your friends that you needed to give your table to were a party of 4. We asked how many reservations were in front of us and were told there were only two, for parties of 10 and 6 and those tables were already waiting for them. When you were confronted, you lied and said they had a reservation. You continued your lie by saying that it was set up months ago. You knew we had our daughter and that she was hungry and waiting, but you decided your friends were more important and all you could muster was "I'm sorry" to us, when in fact you should have given your friends that message. Pathetic. Very disappointed in having supported you all these years after you purchased the place and for constantly recommending you. I liked that there was a jukebox there with a huge selection but we dropped like $15 on it and it only played one of our songs :( (out of like 7) we got a refund for the songs that didn't play but i honestly would've liked them to play because that would've been fun. Wow! Whatta surprise! Once a month Son & I eat out to catch up on our busy lives. His hours are crazier than mines. On this day Son & I were headed to Left Coast Kitchen but was told they weren't serving lunch yet. What?! Huh? Ok. Sooo glad we took a chance on this unassuming bar across from the Long Island Railroad. We were greeted & seated by our waitress Zayna. So sweet & pleasant. She asked for our drink orders & waited patiently while we settled on an order of wings & 2 burgers. Son got the Peter Luger Burger with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Crispy Onion Rings & Peter Luger Sauce. I ordered the Rail Burger which was Pulled Pork on a burger with Crispy Onion Straws & BBQ Sauce. Both were perfectly cooked, moist & flavorful! 5 star Pub Burger all the way! Oh I almost forgot about the wings the burgers were so good. The wings we got sauce on the side. Wings were perfectly Crispy how we like them & the blue cheese dressing had chunks of blue cheese in it. Soooo good! Zayna was an excellent waitress! She made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Great lunch for Mommy Son day. Would recommend in a heartbeat if you're looking for a really good burger with great service. Watermelon salad was also on point. Food was on the money for HH. Buffalo flatbread was great, pulled pork sliders were OK (tasted old) - but it's happy hour. Can't get too crazy for $7 a plate. Someone in the kitchen takes a bite and then plates it? What the puck is wrong with these people in the kitchen? And management is allowing the back of the house to ruin it for the front? Relaxed, casual atmosphere, great food and the service was excellent. Prices are more than reasonable. I have had their burger, which is delicious, salads and most recently tacos with nachos and mozzarella sticks as appetizers. Food is always fresh. The owner is very personable and friendly. Came here for a nice Thursday night football with my boyfriend. Sat at the bar and got the worst service. Sat there waiting for ranch that we asked for three times. Got an attitude. Because we wanted different sauce for our wings. She went back to the kitchen and still no ranch. Never again. Headed over here again recently with the expectation of the great experiences I have had previously and was very disappointed. We came in early Sat evening about 430 so place was relatively quiet, service was good and things were progressing smoothly until the food came... Soup special was corn chicken "chowder", which was more of a creamy soup lacking depth and not hot. The French onion Soups were so over salted they were inedible, we were literally not able to eat it other than the cheese. The Onion Ring "Tower" (Onion Rings stacked on a straw) is overpriced and they are just plain old rings with plain old flavor (dipping sauce was good) and the burger was so overcooked it was bone dry...very disappointing. Wings "Atomic" were ok but not enough sauce and needed a sweet backing(i love heat as the hotter the better but flavor important as heat for me). Service very good and She was understanding and helpful which meant a lot. Will never go back though. read more

We were in Bellmore and checked Yelp nearby restaurants and found The 3rd Rail...which was a great pick! When we entered we found a good crowd with a busy bar scene and tv's with sports on around the room. A real treat was when Beth L. , a fellow Elite came over and welcomed us...she is a server there and took care of us like we were at a family dinner. We got drinks straight away; 2 UFO lager beers and my Pint of Guiness! The place has a friendly vibe and the fun was just beginning.For Appys we got delish Nachos with Pulled Pork and a Crock of French Onion Soup...both good! For our mains: Bon G. and I got burgers...she the Rail Burger and I the Peter Luger Burger... The Rail Burger was the standard burger with condiments and mine had bacon, onion straws and cheese and prepared Rare was thick and juicy....both served with FF's. Daughter Amanda Jade had a huge wonderfully tasty Chicken/sundried tomato Wrap...was outstanding!!! Beth brought us desserts on her; molton choco cake with whipped cream and vanilla iced cream...outstanding! Also cheesecake that was smooth and delish. I don't know why, but I had low expectations on the food and really just came here for the trivia. Unfortunately trivia was cancelled because no other participants were there yesterday (in the bar's defense it was the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and road conditions weren't the greatest so they told us that wasn't normal for them. Plus they gave us each a free beer to make up for it). Luckily the food reached above the bar I had set for it. We had a group of 6 people so we started out with a variety of appetizers, which are half off on Tuesdays *EXCEPT* for the pretzel and chips/guac which was a disappointment so we didnt order those as we may have otherwise done so. Instead of we got the loaded nachos with chicken, two flavors of wings, and fried calamari. The nachos were truly loaded and not skimpy on the ingredients. They even brought out little wipes after the appetizers. For my meal I had the greek salad with chicken. While it certainly isn't one of the best greek salads the ingredients were fresh and the chicken was a more then generous portion. It was enough chicken that I still didn't finish my leftovers for lunch today and have at least one more full meal out of it if I add more salad. Our waitress was really sweet too. We were slow to order and slow to leave and she did a great job of occasionally checking up on us without rushing/overwhelming us.
