The Paneer Makhni was rich, velvety, and deeply comforting. The paneer stayed soft and pillowy, soaking up a buttery tomato-cashew gravy that was slightly sweet, gently tangy, and finished with that unmistakable fenugreek aroma that tied everything together. The mains were just as unforgettable. Laal Maas came in bold and unapologetic. Tender goat slow-cooked until it practically melted off the bone, swimming in a deep, smoky gravy built on mathania chilies that brought slow heat. The Shrimp Malai Curry was the complete opposite in tone. Silky coconut milk wrapped around plump tiger shrimp, with Bengali whole spices adding a gentle sweetness and aromatic depth that made the dish feel light yet indulgent at the same time. You talk to people, maybe watch a little sports of whatever happens to be on at the time and just enjoy being in the moment with old and new friends. I don't live so close to here so my visits will be infrequent, but I'll definitely try to come back. Only issue is they no longer do the 75 cent tap beer (even though the sign visible from the LIRR still advertises it...) but that's ok. The service and friendly patrons more than made up for it.

So this happened 9 months ago, but I just made a Yelp account so. I had to choose one star because it doesn't allow me to give zero stars. Everything was fine until the owner got drunk at the bar and got into a BLM argument with one of my friends. It got pretty nasty. I got involved, and was the only brown girl there among several white people and the owner played some racist ass shit on the radio screaming to me from the other end of the bar "IS THIS RACIST OH IS THIS RACIST" (it was btw) she was fucking disgusting. Ugh I cringe at the thought of her. Her daughter, I think it was her daughter, was just as fowl and horrendous. This place needs to go out of business. They deserve nothing. They are what is wrong with this country. They are literally the definition of what the fuck is wrong with this country. Maybe I was just unaware of what type of crowd this bar servers and of the type of people who own this place. But I have never been involved in a bar fight or argument and this was just unbearable. The Dawg Pound in Central Levittown is a fun bar resturant filled with a bunch of nostalgia and hand painted murals supporting our local unions. The owners also give back to the community by sponsoring local fundraisers. The owners and bartenders are very friendly and always attentive and you can always rely on a nice smile, or a friendly joke. Their $5 lunch specials during the week offer awesome alternatives from their regular menu which is also priced very reasonable and proved very generous portions. The on site cooks prepare fresh dishes which are always plentiful. My personal favorite item on the menu is their chicken wings offered in various flavors. Great place with amazing wings, burgers and sandwiches, and a big variety of drink specials that range from $cheap to $$$$$ depending on your taste buds. The constant Uber eats and others coming and going with food all the time can also verify that the food is excellent as well. They also have great bands and never charge a cover, a real rarity on Long Island nowadays. This place is one of the few places around that also stays open until 4. This place was a home run for me today. As I am on the road often it's difficult to find great deals on lunch. The $5 lunch specials had me. I had the Turkey platter and a coke ( couldn't drink I was still at work ). I walked out spending $10 ($5 tip for the bartender and cook). Total HOME RUN. I noticed this bar just because it's on Gardiners ave. Well let me tell you. After a hard day I come in to get a drink. I waited for about twenty minutes for the bartender to even notice me! It's a bar - total bar atmosphere folks were welcoming & friendly. Lauren was amazing. We had the wings & the fish and chips which were delicious and Lauren whipped us up some yummy drinks. This spot is open till three in the morning. I can see why the food is yummy. The drinks are delish, terrific customer service and did I mention shots - oh yes.!!! This would be a great spot for Karaoke!

Ordered the "RI" Calamari for an app. This was priced at $21 which is pretty steep for Calamari appetizers in general. We got a lackluster scattered plate of sad, poorly breaded and soggy calamari. The breading was falling off most of it especially when you'd try to fork it up. The cherry peppers draped over the ones in the center added acidity, but further sogged out the already not well prepared squid. The hangover burger was cooked to medium rare, as I asked and was tasty. Fries and onion rings were totally fine. My table mates both got 2 different chicken paninis and thought they were mediocre. Some of the wait staff were joking around throughout. Didn't seem like there was a great management team in place. I'd definitely look around for other places next time I'm in that area
