The Good: *Several pit toilets (don't look down) *Picnic tables *Parking lot isn't huge but it's ample enough. *Series of small cascading water falls with trails along the edges and access to the water. I'm honestly not sure how far back the trails go, but by the time I got to the top it looked like you could keep going for a bit. *Great spot for leaf-peeping The Meh: *The road around the lot is gravely, so don't drive too fast or you'll kick up rocks. The Ugly: *Those pit toilets are...0_o *Yelp Mods who can't read a map to save their lives. I've already had them adjust the pin on here several times and they never get it right--there's LITERALLY A PIN on the map that says "Small Falls Rest Area" and they just stick it in arbitrary places. I'm pretty sure they're fucking with me at this point. 0_o Conclusion: If you find yourself in Rangeley Maine or thereabouts, then be sure to add this place to your list of things to see.

It's a fun experience which we are attending for the third time in four years (2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic.) You're not stopping at a chocolatier at each stop. You're stopping at establishments that put a great deal of time preparing for this as well as running their own business. So give them a break, sit back, and enjoy. It's really that simple.

The rest were lackluster one of them was a small brownie that wasn't wrapped at all which made me not want to eat it given this time and age. Furthermore, you have an extremely well maintained walking trail (I guess you can bike it but it wont be easy) that goes along the gorge on one side crosses via bridge (there are several) to the other side and circles the entire thing The trail also pass in the middle of the towns lake. The trail is shaded under large trees so it is ideal even in warm days and has a nice spread of rest stops a long the way. The trail is not very long I would say around 2 Km and has several start/end points the reported address is only one of them. Highly recommanded for kids as well as adults.

Colebrook is a quaint mountain town in the very north of New Hampshire.... You can literally drive…read morehalf an hour and be in Canada! It is as picturesque as you imagine, surrounded by beautiful mountains and even has a small park with a waterfall that looks straight out of a vacation video. One drawback is the cold weather. It legit snows here straight through May. The one thing that is NOT "cute" is the main road that runs right through the center of it. It is a highway frequent by 18 wheelers carrying goods across the country. Stephen King's sister lives here and I think this might be the road featured in pet Sematary. THE DEAL: if you love the mountains, Colebrook is your kind of town. Simply pick a place off the main highway for video-worthy views!

Smoothed over rocks from rushing water? Check. A natural swimming hole? Check. (Wait! I guess that makes YOU the otter here!) This area can be extremely busy during the hot weather because it's an actual spot on the Kanc that one can go splashing around in (there are lots of places where this isn't recommended or is totally banned because of the jagged gorges and strong currents). Because it's a bit more "advertised" (and has actual picnic tables and restrooms), it can be insanely busy in the warmer weather. PRO TIP: there are other "swimming hole" areas nearby in this particular vicinity, but you'll have to go hiking for them... CARRY IN, CARRY OUT PLEASE.

Walk across the wooden Albany Covered Bridge, built above the boulder-studded Swift River in 1858…read moreand restored in 1970. It's one of the coolest covered bridges in New Hampshire. There is a large parking lot here and you can also purchase a recreational pass via the self-service station. The bridge is 120 feet long and it took 'just' $1300 to build it ;) There are walking paths on either side of the bridge and plenty of areas to climb out on the rocks in the river for a perfect scenic photo with the bridge in the background. Don't forget to cross the bridge in your car- it's allowed and on the other side, it's very beautiful. we took that path to reach Belfast. Note: Watch out for traffic crossing the wooden bridge.

That's what it feels like going over this bridge both via car and just walking along it. You're suspended over water and rock, and the whole thing just sways with every movement. It's very, very cool (if not a little scary too). On one side of the bridge, you can park along the trees and use one of the shaded picnic tables or walk down to the river bank (we came after a dry spell so a bit more of the riverbed was exposed allowing us to eat our lunch in the sun on the rocks). It's also a good place to splash around: we were pretty envious of the family floating down the (very shallow, it should be noted [but again, that might just be as a result of a hot, dry summer]) river on their tubes. It's definitely one of those landmarks, as a Mainer, you should see at least once in your lifetime!

They have a large parking lot, a small museum about the history of…read morethe railway (its construction and how the steam engine works), a large gift shop, and a basic cafe that has hotdogs and some grab and go items. The facilities are modern and clean. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our ride! We bought tickets the day of for the trip to Waumbek station on a weekday (they don't go up the summit after October). Seats are reserved, we sat at row 1 seats E and D which I think were the best seats. There was one train that sat 70 people. A roundtrip to the Waumbek station and back takes about an hour. On the 15 minute ride up, the MC went over the history of the railway and how things work at the railway. Once at the Waumbek station, we had about 20 minutes to take photos, enjoy some hot chocolate (very watered down), and make some s'mores ($4 kit available at the main station that includes Graham crackers, chocolate, and a big marshmellow, but they did provide small marshmallows for free). There is a bonfire, 3 levels of the station to hang out and take photos, and heating lamps. The views here were gorgeous! For the ride down, they do flip the steps so we went from the front row to the back row. Overall, it was a fun experience that I would recommend!

After reading the cemetery's one other Yelp review from years ago, my dad and I decided to follow the sign and see it for ourselves. Since my brief visit to the understated roadside memorial, I find myself repeatedly thinking about it. The on-site plaque provides a little information surrounding the Wallaces and their horses, and after taking to the internet to read more about them, I've come to see their story as a profound demonstration of love, authenticity, and the complexities of navigating as a living being. I've researched further and found blog posts/articles written by people who have also had their lives momentarily touched by this place, and again, I see it as a small yet meaningful reflection of our innate connection to one another. If you have an appreciation for visiting the more strange, quiet corners of the universe, then I think your heart would benefit from spending a moment here.
