Christen does a FANTASTIC job applying color exactly how I've asked. I wanted natural looking "summer" hair with blonde highlights, NOT Malibu Barbie. She did a fantastic job and charges a very reasonable fee. I have very long, thick hair and the cuts have been consistent as well. She is fairly easy to schedule with as well, which is very important to me. The only downside is I don't care for the products that she's used in my hair for styling. Lots of static and tangles. If you are a parent of a smaller child (say two years old) then this place is not for you. Kelly says they do not "cater" to children. They are professional, hip, funny and very community oriented. As a guy, I enjoy the vibe and comfortable environment they have worked very hard to create. While searching for a new salon, my husband's co-worker suggested The 9's. On a Saturday morning I went to see Kelly for a cut and colour. The salon is great, with a really nice, open feel and Kelly was wonderful. She did a fantastic cut and colour and I really enjoyed chatting with her for the few hours I was there. I had my hair done at the 9's a week ago and I absolutely love it. Ashley Hansen did my hair and it turned out better than what I had originally had in mind. I showed Ashley a picture of what I wanted and she gave me some suggestions and I let her just do what she thought would look best. Everyone loves my hair, we went with an ombre look and a trim. Ashley was very patient and great company as well. She took great care of me and was very gentle. Anita is adept with both "curl" and "color". I naturally have ashy-mousy- dark brown wavy-frizzy hair but you'd never know it once Anita works with it. It turns into bouncy-fun warm-textured manageable hair that is easy to style many ways. Its really like magic! ... I've never had a stylist understand both curl and color. I went to get a white/platinum ombre. I have forgotten the name of the hairstylist, but the first time was really lovely. My hair is a dark brown. I got a blonde ombre, so as not to damage my hair. The next time I went in, I had changed my mind and asked for a silver/gray ombre. The hairstylist proceeded to tell me this was IMPOSSIBLE with my hair because it was so dark. She called over another hairstylist who agreed and said it was impossible to get my hair gray. I have see this done on other girls with very dark hair, so I am assuming they were just talking about their own level of competence. She got my hair platinum white, but went up even further on my hair than I told her I wanted, leaving yellow towards the roots. She even parted my hair on the wrong side after I told her I wanted it on the other side. I will not come back to this salon. This hairstylist was very friendly, I just would never go to her for my hair again. read more

The Nine's has a very comfortable and non pretentious atmosphere and staff. They are all highly professional and friendly. The greeting is quick, and the service is very timely. If the stylist is running more than 10 minutes late, I always receive a call. I appreciate that they respect my time.
