The best part is that the owner Juel is a great teacher and an amazing gymnast and dancer herself. She is active in the pole dance competition circuit, so she understands and can teach new and advanced tricks and combinations, but at the same time she is very patient and encouraging with beginners, and makes sure that they learn the fundamentals correctly (and on both sides!). The combination of the tall poles and her expert instruction make my hour-long drive from Boston 100% worthwhile.

We weren't sure what to wear but you could really wear anything you'd like, from sweats to basically just underwear but the more skin contact with the pole the better! I wore a cropped cami with a bra over it and nike pros and could've still used a little less fabric between the pole and me. They also sell some sticky tack stuff outside the studios for extra grip. The…read moreplace is kind of hidden in plain site so for any new time comers be aware that the building is located right underneath the sign that reads, " BPG" I arrived 10 minutes prior to the start time only to still get there 5 mins late due to missing where the heck the precise entrance was! It was irritating, more so since it was dark on that street so yeah. On to the class itself, my instructor was Tamar and she was very welcoming to me despite me arriving 5 minutes late and stepping on the dance floor with my shoes ( whoops! ) I was lucky to find a pole and was able to catch up with the rest of the class for the warm up ( did yoga class prior to loosen up so I still would have been fine. ). She taught us how to grip the pole properly, how to climb properly, how to do a spin properly, a handstand trick and made sure to walk around the room to see everyone do each trick once to make sure we were all on the same page. I was so nervous when she came to me but she was so non judgmental, easy going, and helpful that I loosen up after a while and was able to perform better in result. Really appreciated that! Despite the location still undergoing construction, the facility was still clean even the restroom which i appreciated so much! Would definitely return again. This company is welcoming to all walks of life. I felt at ease as a black woman coming here and didn't feel uncomfortable for a second! One good thing for me (and any of her former clients in SF) that comes with a pandemic viral crisis is that her classes are now online! I've really enjoyed her HIIT the mat class which is some cardio with pilates and weights. A great mix to keep you happy, healthy and sweaty. I also took her stretch class last week (right after the HIIT class and Loved it!!) Who doesn't need to stretch these days- with all the sitting and overall lack of movement while we Shelter in Place. Occasionally there are some hiccups with ZOOM, but who hasn't had issues when the entire WORLD is using one platform to connect for work these days? So have some patience. First of all, you pull up and it's inside of a gun store, next to a trump store.. truly wanted to turn right around then but I had paid $28 for the class (more than what I pay at other places!) so I went in. That's when I realize they double book the classes, meaning there were 12 of us in the class and only 6 poles!!! Never have I ever had to share a pole before. The instructor didn't introduce herself to me, and started a half hour late while they posed for pictures. Then I had to sit on my ass for half the rest of the class because I was sharing a pole.. all for that high class price. The poles weren't even installed well, what a disaster. Some of the women in class were very nice to me, but this was a huge waste of my hard earned money and I will never go back!
