Regular on the left, crunchy on the right

The Alley continues to be my go to bubble tea place. I recently tried the crunchy brown sugar milk tea and really liked it. The texture was more of a frosty but had crunchy cereal bits that gave it more of a bite. Bubbles are perfect as always. Love the regular tea also! Not much seating space, with only three tables and a bar seating so many ppl just got it and sat at the nearby park.

I remember loving The Alley when I last visited Toronto in 2018. I don't think this was the location we went to, but I didn't think there would be a big difference. Maybe my palette for boba have changed since then, IDK. ROYAL NO.9 MILK TEA 皇家九號奶茶 I don't remember how much this was, maybe around $7-8 after tax? I got it with boba, 25% sugar and light ice. You can taste the blueberry infused flavors, but the whole drink was watery and tasteless. I couldn't really pick out the tea flavors. Pearls were nice and chewy, but nothing substantial. Not sure if The Alley has gotten worse since 2018? I had a similar experience at another Alley location in Flushing last year where I thought the same thing when I got the same drink. It's sad because I really liked it in 2018!

The Alley is one of my all time favorite bubble tea places since I visited them for the first time in Australia.. Melbourne to be exact. And this location did not disappoint! I find that each location has a slight variation in menu, and my go-to drink for this location was the Ube Deerioca! Those chunks of Ube in the drink just did it for me! I don't actually believe there's any tea in this drink, I could be wrong, but I love the flavors, the chewiness of the boba, always fresh.. and the addition of the Ube chunks! Like everything else I had in Toronto, I came back to this location multiple times during my trip!

Tried a few bubble tea shops in Dowtown Toronto and the Alley was my favorite. Staff was friendly and it was located in a cool spot with indoor / outdoor seating that was next to an outdoor park.

Another authentic Taiwanese bubble tea shop! Despite being Taiwanese, I had never had it before while I was in Taiwan Until last week, our friends invited us to go there to buy a cup of tea and had a chat. I think its location is kind of perfect. Although it doesn't have many seats indoors, College Park is just outside of it and there are many seats with big tables. The drink I ordered was milky and the pearl (tapioca in caramelized brown sugar) was soft but still chewy. I was very satisfied with that.

Enjoyed the deerioca fever, it is a brown sugar pearl bubble tea. I only wish that we could customize the sugar and ice levels as with most bubble tea shops. The pearls were perfect, chewy, and warm for the first two sips but quickly turned rock hard and cold with the ice and it was a smidge too sweet for me. The employee seemed to know the drinks well though and was able to give several suggestions. I may come back to try another drink as they have several unique flavours however it would have to be one of the options that are customizable!

Convenient location in downtown Toronto at college park. This boba place is in "Aura" building, same building as Ikea, Marshall, home sense, on 1st floor, next to the Aura residential section, facing the park section & "college park" entrance. There's no food, just drink, boba, milk teas. The menu is pretty short. The staff was efficient. There's limited seating, mostly quiet, since it seems that most ppl buy to go or sit outdoor in the park. We got a taro boba, which was different than what were used to. We did like the creaminess, not so much the flavor itself. The prices are standard for downtown boba store (on pricey side).

Not being a native from Toronto, I was heavily encouraged to come check out The Alley for some good boba. It looks like this branch of the chain opened up about a month ago, but looks super nice. Located on the ground floor of some really fancy condos, The Alley serves fancy, Instagram worthy boba at a decent price. I tried the Royal No. 9 on this trip, with less ice and half sugar. Turns out this was just the right amount, as the drink wasn't too sweet, and there was a slight blueberry taste to it. The tapioca are all made in-house (according to the website) and were perfect--not overly chewy or sweet at all. Seating: seating was limited to about 8 bar stools and 4 tables that seat 2 people each. There were definitely still people sitting with their laptops, even at 10:30pm on a Sunday night. We managed to grab two seats at the bar, and enjoyed the nice view.

Why does my new favorite bubble tea place have to be SO FAR FROM HOME. You people in Toronto are LUCKY. The Alley was recommended to me by a friend from the Toronto area. She is a Bubble Tea connoisseurs of sorts after living in Asia for a number of years. So I took her word for it, and made it a point to stop at the Alley before I left town. Lucky for me, there was one not too far from me on Yonge Street not too far from my hotel on Carlton. Definitely worth the walk. First of all, this location is still new. You can tell because it is clean and orderly. The decor is very fresh. It's in a great location on a plaza so you can go and sip outside when the weather is nice. I originally went in and figure I would order taro milk tea (since earlier in my day I had a mango green bubble tea). They do not offer Taro flavor, which was probably all well and good, because I went ahead and ordered the jasmine green milk tea instead. BEST DECISION EVER. I have found my new favorite flavor. I ordered mine without sugar and standard ice. Many times when you order no sugar, your drink is still sweet. Too sweet. Not the case here. I got a very flavorful, but not sweet drink. The jasmine flavor pairs so well with the milk too, that I was really pleased. As I sipped my tea, it seemed that the boba took on the flavor of the tea more profoundly than any other tea I've had. So the experience of the boba was even more pleasant because it had texture and added taste. Honestly, this is probably the best bubble tea I've had, and I spent the summer scouring NYC, London, and now Toronto for some tasty teas that satisfy. Well done The Alley. You're it!

good ratio of tapioca to drink! could be a little sweeter but to be fair i asked for less sweet. mhm. ice level is very good and temperature is very good. also i appreciate the paper straws sturdiness. - wait actually the tapioca ratio is bad i'm gonna run out!

    Deerioca Fever with soy milk

During the first couple weeks that we could dine outside, I spent time with a friend and tried The Alley's Deerioca Fever with Soy Milk. It was about $6.80. Rating: 7.5/10 -The soy milk made the drink much lighter compared to fresh milk -I find this drink to be a healthier bubble tea version -It was refreshing but I'm a sucker for fresh milk in my bubble tea so I didn't vibe with this too much Follow @debeats_ on Instagram for more bubble tea recommendations in Toronto

Pretty good boba. We ordered a regular milk tea and matcha latte, and both were okay. The iced matcha latte tastes a bit like coconut for some reason. They had a soy milk-based drink option, so I thought they had alternative milks, but when I asked the employee at the cashier, she said they didn't have alternative milks. :( Other than that, nothing mind-blowing; just good boba.

This alley is so much better than the one on St John's St. Flavour is rich and full! Highly recommend their Royal No. 9!

Contrary to the weather outside. The young worker behind the counter greeted me with a smile, in spite of their preoccupation in making drinks. I asked her questions to help me narrow down my choice. I settled on a creamy mango with boba. With less ice and less sweetness. It was refreshing and satisfying, next time I will ask for 80% sugar because going down to 50% was too much of a drop. The place is pretty modern inside with an exposed brick interface, it kind of gave me the impression of being on a street in Taiwan. Outside they have this cute street post sign on the side of their building. All in all, service 10 outta 10, ambiance 10 outta 10 (although when I went the only other customer had left, so knowing how loud it gets, I was not able to decipher and that may impact this rating.) And drink... ah 7 outta 10. This is because it came out to be expensive for the size . Will try again.
